Anko Crochet Bottle Holder Kit Instruction Manual

This manual provides step-by-step instructions for creating a crochet bottle holder using the Anko Crochet Bottle Holder Kit. It includes guides for basic crochet stitches and assembly instructions.

Basic Crochet Stitches

1. Stitch (Abbreviated 'st')

This is the initial slip knot used to start any crochet project. To create it, loop the yarn around two fingers, leaving a tail. Pull the tail halfway through the loop. Insert the crochet hook into the second loop and gently pull the loop onto the crochet hook.

2. Chain Stitch (Abbreviated 'ch')

The chain stitch is the basis for all crochet, also called a foundation chain. It involves pulling a loop of yarn through another loop on the hook.

3. Slip Stitch (Abbreviated 'sl st')

The slip stitch is the smallest crochet stitch and is often used to join pieces or create a flat finish. To make it, insert the hook into a stitch, yarn over, and pull the yarn through both the stitch and the loop on the hook.

4. Single Crochet (Abbreviated 'sc')

The single crochet is the most fundamental crochet stitch. To perform it, insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, and pull through both loops on the hook.

5. Increase (Abbreviated 'inc')

You can increase stitches by making two single crochets in the same stitch or space. This is often done at the beginning of a row.

6. Double Crochet (Abbreviated 'Dc')

The double crochet is taller than a single crochet. To make it:

  1. Wrap the yarn around the crochet hook.
  2. Insert the hook into the next stitch.
  3. Wrap the yarn around the hook and pull a loop through the stitch. You will have three loops on the hook.
  4. Wrap the yarn around the hook again and pull it through the first two loops, leaving two loops on the hook.
  5. Wrap the yarn around the hook again and pull it through the remaining two loops, leaving only one loop on the hook.
  6. Repeat this process to complete the row.

7. Popcorn Stitch (Abbreviated '5 dc popcorn')

Make 5 double crochets in the same stitch. Flip the work over, then make a single crochet in the back of the first double crochet to create a popcorn effect.

8. Insert your hook into 2nd back hoop

This instruction refers to a specific technique for inserting the crochet hook into the back loop only of the previous row's stitches.

9. Round (Abbreviated 'Rd')

This refers to continuing crochet stitches in a circular pattern. Each round typically starts with a chain stitch and ends with a slip stitch to join the round.

10. Fasten off (Abbreviated 'F/O')

To fasten off, pull the yarn through the last loop on the hook and pull it taut. Cut the yarn, leaving an end to weave in.

11. Decrease (Abbreviated 'dec')

You can decrease stitches by combining two stitches into one. To make a half single crochet decrease, insert the hook into the first stitch, pull up a loop. Then, insert the hook into the second stitch, pull up another loop. You will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all three loops.

12. Half double crochet (Abbreviated 'hdc')

To make a half double crochet, wrap the yarn around the hook, insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop. You will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all three loops.

13. Weaving in / invisible close

Cut the yarn, leaving a long end. Draw this end through the final loop on the hook and thread it onto a yarn needle. Weave the needle through the front loops only of the last round, then pull tight to close the gap. Weave the remaining yarn tail into your piece to secure it.

14. Sewing

Sewing is generally used for connecting two parts. Use a plastic needle to thread yarn through the knots where the two parts need to be connected. If stitching details like mouths or eyes, use the plastic needle to follow the grain of the fabric.

15. Magic ring

When crocheting circular items, start with a magic ring. Create a loop with the yarn, then make a single crochet into the loop to secure it. After making the required number of stitches into the loop, pull the yarn tail to tighten the ring. Make a chain stitch in the first knot to close the magic ring.

1. Square Pieces (x 4)

You will need to make four square pieces. Follow these instructions for each:

  1. R1: Using the yellow yarn, make 12 double crochets (dc). (Refer to Fig. 1)
  2. R2: Using the white yarn, make 12 (5 dc popcorn) stitches. (Refer to Fig. 2)
  3. R3: Using the gray yarn, work (3 dc, 2 ch, 3 dc) in the same stitch, repeated 4 times. Then work (3 hdc in 1st stitch) twice. (Refer to Fig. 3)
  4. R4: Using the gray yarn, work (3 dc, 2 ch, 3 dc) repeated 4 times, then work (3 hdc in 1st stitch). (Refer to Fig. 4)

Complete four square pieces following these steps.

2. Connect the Square Pieces

Join three of the square pieces together by making 3 double crochets (dc) in each corresponding knot. Note: Make a slip stitch (sl) at the beginning and end of each connection. Do not connect the top and bottom edges of the squares. (Refer to Fig. 5-6)

3. Connect the Bottom of the Bottle Holder

Join the remaining square piece to the bottom of the connected squares. Work 4 decrease double crochets (dec-dc), then 2 decrease-double crochets (dec-2dc), followed by a slip stitch (sl). Reserve 15cm of gray yarn to tighten with the plastic needle. (Refer to Fig. 7-9)

4. The Opening of Bottle Holder

Work 34 single crochets (sc) around the top opening of the bottle holder. (Refer to Fig. 10)

5. The Strap of Bottle Holder

Make a slip stitch (sl) in the middle knot on the left side of the bottle holder's top opening. Then, create a chain of 60 stitches (60 ch). Cross this chain to the right center knot and make a slip stitch (sl) to secure it. Create another chain of 60 stitches (60 ch) and tie it back into the original knot on the left side. Finally, reserve 5cm of gray yarn, tie it off, and pull tight. Hide the yarn end inside the holder using the plastic needle. You have now finished a complete crochet bottle holder. (Refer to Fig. 12)
