About the Outwell Avondale 6PA
This guide provides essential information for pitching, packing, and maintaining your Outwell Avondale 6PA tent. Designed for family camping, this tent utilizes advanced Air technology for easy setup.
Important Note: This tent should be erected by at least two persons.
Pitching Your Tent
Estimated Pitch Time: 12-23 minutes ⏱️.
Follow these steps for successful pitching:
- Unpack the tent and observe its original packing to aid repacking.
- Select an ideal pitch: a level, clear area free from stones, branches, or sharp objects. Avoid pitching directly under trees.
- Position the tent with the main entrance facing the desired direction and the rear into the wind for better stability.
- Inflate the air tubes using a pump, ensuring the pressure is between 7-9 PSI (0.6 bar). Use the pump gauge to monitor pressure.
- Secure the tent with pegs and guylines, ensuring it is taut but not overly stretched to allow for weather adaptation. Use storm pegs for strong winds and U-shaped pegs for hard/stony ground.
- Air Pressure Note: Air pressure in the tubes will fluctuate with temperature. It's normal for tubes to appear slack in cooler temperatures and tighten as they warm up. Avoid overinflating a cold tent in the morning. If tubes become too hard in heat, release a small amount of air.
Tip: Practice pitching the tent at home before your first trip.
Packing Away Your Tent
Ensure the tent is completely dry before packing to prevent mildew or rot.
- Deflate the air tubes.
- Fold the tent neatly, following the reverse of the pitching process.
- Lay the "Quick & Quiet" Closure magnets ? flat to prevent damage.
- Store the tent in its bag in a dry place.
Maintenance and Care Tips
Proper care will extend the life of your Outwell tent.
- UV Protection: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can damage the fabric. Outtex® fabric offers enhanced durability, but avoid leaving the tent in direct sun for extended periods. Camping near water can increase UV effect.
- Cleaning: Remove dirt with a soft sponge and clean water. Never use a washing machine or dry-cleaning.
- Seam Care: Periodically treat seams around zips and toggles with a seam sealer or waterproof spray, as these are high-stress areas. Repair any detached seam tape with sealer and spray.
- Water Repellency: Apply Outwell Waterguard to the flysheet material periodically to maintain water repellency.
- Condensation vs. Leakage: Condensation can form on the inside; ensure good ventilation and avoid drying wet clothes inside. Condensation is not a sign of leakage.
- Material Care: Do not touch the inside of the flysheet during rain, as this can affect waterproofing. Do not use insecticides inside or on the tent, as they can damage the fabric and coating.
- Mud Valance: Do not use the mud valance to adjust the tent or pull out pegs.
- Pole Care: Lightly grease metal poles with non-acidic oil after use.
