Outwell Elmdale 5PA Air Tent Guide
Innovative Family Camping
Pitching Your Elmdale 5PA Tent
This tent is designed for family camping and features an Air system for quick and easy setup. It is recommended that two persons erect the tent.
Estimated Pitching Time: Approximately 9-15 minutes.
Key Steps & Tips:
- Unpack the tent and observe how it is packed to aid in repacking later.
- Choose a level, clean pitch free from sharp objects. Avoid pitching directly under trees.
- Position the tent with the entrance facing the desired direction and the rear into the wind for stability.
- Inflate the air tubes (A1, A2, A3, A4) using a pump with a gauge. Maintain an operational pressure between 7 PSI and 9 PSI (0.6 bar).
- Air pressure will fluctuate with temperature; this is normal. Avoid overinflating a cold tent in the morning.
- Secure the tent with pegs and guylines. Use storm pegs for strong winds and U-shaped pegs for hard/stony ground.
- Do not use guylines to pull out pegs.

Packing Away Your Tent
Ensure the tent is completely dry before packing to prevent mildew or rot.
- Lightly grease metal poles with a non-acidic oil after use.
- Lay the Quick & Quiet* closure magnets flat to prevent damage.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life of your Outwell tent.
- UV Protection: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can damage the fabric. Camping near water can intensify UV effects. Outtex® fabric offers enhanced durability.
- Condensation: Condensation can form on the inside. Prevent it by removing wet items, ensuring good ventilation, or using an Outwell® Footprint. Condensation is not leakage.
- Waterproofing: The flysheet is waterproof. Avoid touching the inside of the flysheet in the rain, as this can affect waterproofing.
- Tension: Do not pitch the tent too tightly; it needs to adapt to weather changes.
- Cleaning: Remove dirt with a soft sponge and clean water. Never use a washing machine or dry cleaning. Store the tent dry.
- Seams: Seams, especially around zips and toggles, are high-stress areas. Periodically treat them with a seam sealer or waterproof spray. Tape may detach after prolonged sun exposure; repair with seam sealer and spray.
- Water Repellency: Apply Outwell Waterguard periodically to the flysheet material to maintain water repellency and extend lifespan.
- Mud Valance: Do not use the mud valance to adjust the tent or pull out pegs. It is designed only to keep wind and water out.
