Outwell Parkdale 6PA Tent
Model: Parkdale 6PA
Collection: Prime Air
Pitching Instructions
This tent is designed for family camping and utilizes an air pole system for quick and easy setup. It is recommended that the tent be erected by at least two persons.
Pitch Time: Approximately 10 minutes for a quick pitch, 27 minutes for a full pitch.
Preparation and Positioning
Upon unpacking, observe how the tent is packed to assist with repacking later.
Select an ideal pitch site that is as even and clear as possible, free from rocks, branches, and other sharp objects. Avoid pitching the tent directly under trees.
Spread out the tent with the main entrance facing the desired direction. For optimal stability in windy conditions, position the rear of the tent into the wind.
It is highly recommended to practice pitching the tent at home before your first camping trip to familiarize yourself with the process.
Inflating the Air Tubes
Using the provided pump and gauge, inflate the air tubes to the recommended operational pressure, which is between 7 PSI and a maximum of 9 PSI (0.6 bar).
Important Note on Air Pressure: Air expands when warm and contracts when cold. During cooler overnight temperatures, the air tubes may appear slightly slack. This is normal and will resolve as the ambient temperature rises. Avoid overinflating a cold tent in the morning, as this could lead to excessive pressure when temperatures increase during the day.
To check pressure, squeeze the air tubes. If they feel too hard in hot weather, slightly open the inflation valve to release some air, then re-inflate to the recommended pressure.
Securing the Tent
Use the provided tent pegs to secure the tent firmly to the ground. For expected strong winds, replace standard pegs with storm pegs. For stony or hard ground, stronger U-shaped pegs are recommended. Ensure pegs are not pulled out using guylines.
Packing Away
Before packing, ensure the tent is completely dry to prevent mildew and rotting.
- Deflate all air tubes by opening the inflation valves.
- Fold the tent material neatly, ideally following the original packing method.
- Place the folded tent into its designated carry bag.
- When packing, lay the 'Quick & Quiet' closure magnets flat to prevent any damage.
Maintenance and Care Tips
General Cleaning: Remove dirt using a soft sponge and clean water. Never wash the tent in a washing machine or use dry cleaning services. Always store the tent in a dry location.
Seam Care: Although special waterproof thread is used, periodically treat seams, especially around zips and toggles, with a seam sealer or waterproof spray. These areas experience higher tension.
Tape Repair: Seam sealing tape may detach after prolonged exposure to sunlight. If this occurs, remove loose tape and re-seal the seams using a seam sealer and waterproof spray.
Leak Prevention: Minor leaks from seams can be easily resealed with seam sealer. These can be caused by single threads, tape folds, or handling errors.
Water Repellency: For extended lifespan, regularly apply Outwell Waterguard to the flysheet material.
UV Protection: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can damage tent fabric. Outtex® fabric, used in Outwell tents, is designed to increase durability against UV rays.
Product Usage: Outwell products are intended for camping use (typically 2-5 weeks per year) and are not designed for permanent or continuous residential use. Camping near bodies of water can amplify UV radiation effects.
Tent Pegs and Poles: Use storm pegs for strong winds and U-shaped pegs for hard or stony ground. Do not use guylines to remove pegs. Lightly grease metal poles with non-acidic oil after use.
Mud Valance: The mud valance is designed to keep wind and water out of the living and storage areas. Do not use it to adjust the tent's position or to pull out tent pegs.
Insecticides: Avoid spraying insecticides inside or on the tent, as they can damage the fabric and its protective coating.
