Specific Part of the European Technical Assessment
1. Technical description of product
The fischer Bolt anchor FBN II HDG is an anchor made of zinc plated, hot-dip galvanised steel. It is installed into a drilled hole and anchored by torque-controlled expansion. The corrosion protection layer has a minimum thickness of 40 µm, with a batch average of minimum 50 µm.
Product and product description are detailed in Annex A.
Characteristic material values, dimensions, and tolerances not specified in the annexes correspond to the technical documentation of this assessment.
The anchors are intended for use with embedment depths specified in Annex B, Table B4.1. Intended use specifications are detailed in Annex B1.
2. Specification of the intended use(s)
Performances are valid only if the anchor is used in compliance with the specifications and conditions given in Annex B.
This assessment is based on an assumed intended working life of the anchor, dependent on corrosion protection, as given in Annex B.
Working life indications are not a guarantee but serve as a guide for selecting products for the expected economically reasonable working life of the works.
Performance and Methods of Assessment
3.1 Characteristics of product
Mechanical resistance and stability (BWR 1): Essential characteristics are detailed in Annexes C1 to C2.
Safety in case of fire (BWR 2): No performance assessed.
3.2 Methods of assessment
The assessment of fitness for intended use regarding mechanical resistance, stability, and safety in use (Basic Works Requirements 1 and 4) was conducted according to EAD 330232-01-0601-v01; Mechanical fasteners for use in concrete.
Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP)
4.1 AVCP system
The AVCP system applied is System 1, according to the decision 1996/582/EC of the European Commission (see Annex V to Regulation (EU) No 305/2011).
5. Technical details for AVCP implementation
Technical details for AVCP implementation are laid down in the control plan deposited at ETA-Danmark prior to CE marking.
Issued in Copenhagen on 2025-07-03 by Thomas Bruun, Managing Director, ETA-Danmark.
Annexes Overview
Annex A1: Product Description
Illustrates the fischer Bolt Anchor FBN II HDG components: Cone bolt (cold-formed or turned), Expansion sleeve, Hexagon nut, and Washer. Diagrams show the components and the anchor installed in concrete.
Annex A2: Marking and Fixture Thickness
Details marking areas on the anchor components for FBN II HDG and FBN II K HDG. Tables A2.1 and A2.2 provide letter codes for marking area 1 and the maximum thickness of fixture (tfix) for standard and reduced embedment depths.
Annex A3: Anchor Dimensions and Materials
Table A3.1 provides anchor dimensions (d0, dk, Lmin, Lmax, m, ts, ds) for sizes M8 to M20. Table A3.2 specifies materials for each component, including galvanization standards.
Annex B1: Specifications of Intended Use and Durability
Outlines intended use for static and quasi-static loads in uncracked concrete (strength classes C20/25 to C50/60). Covers use conditions, design responsibilities, installation procedures, and durability based on coating thickness and corrosivity categories (Table B1.1).
Annex B2: Indoor Environments
Describes typical indoor atmospheric environments and their relation to corrosivity categories (C1 to CX) and durability.
Annex B3: Outdoor Environments
Describes typical outdoor atmospheric environments and their relation to corrosivity categories (C1 to CX) and durability.
Annex B4: Installation Parameters
Table B4.1 lists installation parameters including drill hole diameter, embedment depth, clearance hole diameter, and required setting torque for anchor sizes M8 to M20. A diagram illustrates these parameters.
Annex B5: Member Thickness, Spacing, Edge Distance, and Installation Instructions
Table B5.1 specifies minimum concrete member thickness, spacing, and edge distance for standard and reduced embedment depths. Detailed installation instructions for Hammer drilling and Hollow drilling are provided with accompanying diagrams.
Annex C1: Tension Resistance
Presents characteristic values of tension resistance for standard and reduced embedment depths, including steel failure, pullout failure, and concrete cone/splitting failure. Includes relevant safety factors and increasing factors for pullout resistance.
Annex C2: Shear Resistance and Displacements
Provides characteristic values of shear resistance for standard and reduced embedment depths, covering steel failure and concrete pryout/edge failure. Includes relevant safety factors. Also details displacements due to tension and shear loads for various anchor sizes.
