Bumper Removal
- Remove rear light clusters, two fixings on each light around boot shut area.
- Remove six fixings from the bumper lower edge, one fixing in each wheel arch. Carefully peel back wheel arch trim to reveal one tip fixing, one fixing either side of boot shut area, carefully remove the rear bumper unplugging any necessary wiring looms.
- Remove the rear impact beam, this is not refitted with the Towbar assembly.
Towbar Installation
- Insert Items B into each correct chassis and fix in place using Item E and Item K.
- Fix Item A to the rear panel using Item F and Item L. Fix Item A to Items B using Items G and Item K.
- Using Item H with Item K and Item J with Item K fix Item C and Item D to Item A.
- Fully tighten all fixings ensuring the Towbar is rigid, square and secure.
- Cut the rear bumper as shown below.
- Refit the rear bumper.
Diagram Description
The towbar assembly consists of a main crossmember (Item A) that spans the vehicle's rear chassis. Two handed side arms (Item B) are attached to the chassis on either side of the crossmember. A detachable neck (Item C) with a tow ball is connected to the front of the crossmember, along with a flip-up socket plate (Item D). The assembly is secured using various fasteners including M12 bolts (Items E, G, H, J), M8 nyloc nuts (Item F), and flat washers (Items K, L) in specified quantities.
A separate diagram illustrates the necessary modifications to the vehicle's rear bumper. It indicates specific cut-out dimensions: a width of 100mm, a depth of 215mm, and a height of 12mm, to accommodate the towbar assembly.
