Bumper Removal
- Open the rear tail gate and remove the bump stops found either side of the boot opening, remove by twisting 45 degrees and pull.
- Remove four fixings from the bumper lower edge, five fixings from each wheel arch and release the bumper tips from the vehicle body, then pull bumper rearward disconnecting any necessary wiring looms.
- Remove rear impact beam (This is not refitted with the Towbar assembly).
- Cut the rear bumper as per the sketch below.
Towbar Installation
- Insert Items B into each correct chassis member and fix in place at the forward most vehicle mounting point only using Item E and Item J.
- Insert Item A into the open ends of each chassis and fix between each side arm using Items E with Item K.
- Using Item F with Item J fix Item A and Items B through the rearmost vehicle mounting point.
- Fully tighten all fixings ensuring the Towbar is rigid, square and secure.
- Refit the rear bumper.
- Fix Item C and Item D to Item A using Items G with Items K and Item H. (Note R-Design may require the socket plate to be fitted from the lower mounting point only)
- Fully tighten all remaining fixings.
Diagram Descriptions
Towbar Assembly Diagram: The diagram shows the main towbar assembly. Item A, the Crossmember, is the central bar. Items B, the Handed Side Arms, attach to the ends of the Crossmember and connect to the vehicle's chassis mounting points. Item C, the Swan Neck, is the part that extends from the towbar to attach a trailer. Item D, the Socket Plate, is where the trailer's electrical connector is housed. Various bolts, nuts, washers, and spacer plates (Items E, F, G, H, J, K) are used to secure these components to the vehicle and to each other.
Bumper Cut Details Diagram: This diagram illustrates the necessary modifications to the vehicle's rear bumper. It indicates a cut-out section with specific dimensions: 110mm measured from the center line on each side, and a depth of 10mm.
