? Warning
This product is intended for advanced users. Improper installation may result in damage to your equipment. Phanteks assumes no liability for damage(s) occurring to components due to installation errors or product defects. Do not disassemble the water block; doing so will void the warranty.
Before proceeding, turn off your system's power and discharge any static electricity from your body. If you are not comfortable performing the installation, consult a qualified computer technician.
Step 1. Removing Stock Cooler
Unscrew all highlighted screws to remove the stock cooler. This includes backplate screws and stock cooler screws.
? Ensure you unplug the LED and Fan cables when removing the stock cooler.
Utilize the provided EVA-Foam from the box as a protective base during the installation process.
The guide shows visuals of the ASUS ROG STRIX LC RTX 3090TI and ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 3090TI graphics cards, indicating screw locations for cooler removal.
Step 2. Applying Thermal Paste & Pads
Clean the original thermal compound from the GPU surface. Isopropanol alcohol is recommended for this cleaning process.
Apply a small drop of Phanteks Thermal Compound to the center of the GPU chip.
Carefully remove the protective film from the thermal pads. Place the thermal pads onto their designated positions on the PCB. Note that Pad No. 14 is included with the backplate. Ensure the protective film is removed from both sides of all thermal pads before placement.
Diagrams illustrate the correct placement of thermal pads on the PCB for both the ASUS ROG STRIX LC RTX 3090TI and ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 3090TI. A specific note indicates that three thermal pads are exclusively for the STRIX model.
Step 3. Mount the Water Block
Carefully position the water block onto the graphics card. Align the mounting holes on the PCB with the corresponding holes on the water block. Secure the water block using the 4 M2.5x5mm screws and washers provided.
? Ensure the GPU with the water block is laid flat and does not rest on the PCI bracket during installation.
A visual guide shows the water block being attached to the graphics card PCB with screws, illustrating the alignment of mounting holes.
Step 4. Install the Glacier Backplate
Refer to the separate Backplate manual for detailed instructions on this step.
An image displays the Glacier backplate component.
Step 5. Connect D-RGB Lighting
Connect the D-RGB cable to the D-RGB strip located within the water block.
? Phanteks D-RGB products support daisy-chaining for expanded connectivity.
? The D-RGB cable can be connected to a compatible motherboard via the included D-RGB Motherboard Adapter.
A diagram illustrates the D-RGB connection process, showing the cable linking the water block to the motherboard adapter, and then to the motherboard.
Step 6. Installing Fittings
Install G1/4 threaded male fittings into the designated ports. Use the two included Stop Fittings to close any remaining unused ports.
? It is crucial to perform a leak test before powering on any system components.
A diagram shows the water block ports, indicating where to install fittings and stop fittings.
