Thank you for purchasing the Marantz CINEMA 400 AV Surround Receiver. This guide will walk you through the initial setup process, ensuring you can start enjoying your home entertainment system quickly.
For first-time use, the Setup Assistant feature will guide you through configuring the unit. Please follow the on-screen instructions displayed on your connected TV.
This document covers the steps leading up to the commencement of the Setup Assistant.

Before You Begin Setup
Ensure you have the following items for setup:
- Television
- Speaker cables
- HDMI cable (Use "High Speed HDMI cable with Ethernet" for Deep Color, 4K, ARC, and eARC. Use an certified "Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" for 8K and 4K 120Hz.)
- Speakers
- Subwoofer cable
- LAN cable or Wi-Fi router (Optional)

- Main Unit
- Microphone Stand (Useful for speaker measurement, allowing automatic optimal settings for your listening environment.)
- Power Cord
- Remote Control (RC048SR)
- FM Indoor Antenna
- AA Dry Batteries (x2)
- AM Loop Antenna
- Bluetooth®/Wi-Fi External Antenna (x2)
- Cable Labels
- Setup Microphone
Using Cable Labels: Attach the included cable labels to your speaker and HDMI cables to easily identify connections to your speakers and HDMI devices.
Setup Procedure
- Connect Bluetooth/Wi-Fi External Antenna: Align the antenna with the terminal on the rear panel and tighten by turning clockwise. Adjust the antenna for the best reception. For wired LAN connection, use a LAN cable to connect the unit to your router. For wireless LAN, disconnect the LAN cable.
- Connect Power Cord: Connect the power cord to the unit and then to a power outlet near your TV.
- Connect Unit to TV: Use a high-quality HDMI cable to connect the HDMI OUT MONITOR 1 terminal on the unit to the HDMI (ARC/eARC) terminal on your TV. ARC/eARC allows audio signals to be sent from the TV back to the receiver via the same HDMI cable, enabling playback of TV tuner or app audio. eARC supports higher bitrate multi-channel audio formats.
- Turn on the TV: Use your TV remote to power on the television.
- Select HDMI Input on TV: Use the TV remote's INPUT or TV/VIDEO button to select the correct HDMI input that the Marantz CINEMA 400 is connected to.
- Insert Batteries into Remote Control: Open the battery compartment on the remote control and insert the provided AA batteries, observing correct polarity.
- Confirm Connection: The Setup Assistant should appear on your TV screen. If it does not, repeat the connection steps. If you have previously set up the unit, press the SETUP button on the remote and select Setup Assistant from the menu.
- Follow Setup Assistant Guidance: The Setup Assistant will guide you through connecting speakers and players. Use the remote control to follow the on-screen instructions for configuration.

To fully enjoy your home entertainment experience, download the HEOS app and the Marantz AVR Remote app (free of charge).
- HEOS App: Browse and play music from your library and online music services.
- Marantz AVR Remote App: Control the Marantz CINEMA 400 unit.
