Cutting Capacities Diagram Description
A diagram illustrates cutting capacities at different angles. The diagram shows measurements in millimeters for 90° and 45° angles, indicating the maximum workpiece dimensions that can be cut. For example, at 90°, the capacity is 125mm height and 75mm width. At 45°, it's 76mm height and 130mm width (for angled cuts).
3. Machine Description
The machine is equipped with the following components:
- 1. Feeding handle with starter button
- 2. On/OFF button
- 3. Speed governor knob
- 4. Clamping lever
- 5. Workpiece stop
- 6. Vice
- 7. Saw blade guide
- 8. Vice Clamping lever
- 9. Blade tension knob
An illustration shows the band saw with these parts labeled numerically.
4. Electric Connection
The machine must be connected to a circuit with short circuit protection. The power socket must match the machine's power plug. If not, have it adapted by a qualified electrician. The power plug must be grounded/earthed.
WARNING: Operating a non-grounded/earthed machine poses a risk of ELECTROCUTION! ⚡️ This can lead to severe injuries and death!
5. Operation
ATTENTION: Prior to any checks or adjustments, disconnect the machine from the power supply! ⚠️ This prevents the risk of accidental start-up.
Before First Use
- Remove the thin corrosion-prevention layer from unpainted parts.
- Do not use Nitrite-Solvents, aggressive solvents, or water.
- The use of thinners, gasoline, aggressive chemicals, or abrasives can damage the surface and lead to corrosion.
Prior to Every Usage
- Check the machine for loose or missing screws and damaged parts.
- Check the condition of the saw blade.
- Ensure all tools, except the workpiece, are removed from the machine.
Perform a Cut
- Loosen the clamping lever (4) and swing the saw arm to the desired angle. Tighten the lever to secure the position.
- Swing the saw arm to its uppermost position.
- Place the workpiece according to the cutting line and secure it with the vice.
- Loosen the saw blade guide (7) and move it approximately 2cm near the workpiece.
- For cutting workpieces of the same length, adjust the workpiece stop (5).
- Adjust the speed governor (3) to the desired feed rate.
- Press the green button (2).
- Take the feeding handle (1) and press the start button. Wait until the blade reaches full speed.
- Perform the cut, adjusting the feed rate based on the material:
- Stainless steel, bronze: very slow feed
- Steel, brass: slow feed
- Aluminium: moderate feed
WARNING: Wait until the band stops and the saw arm is in the upper position before removing the cut workpiece or placing a new one. ⚠️
INFORMATION: If the band saw will not be used for the rest of the day, loosen the saw blade slightly with the knob (9). ?
Maintenance
ATTENTION: Do not clean or perform maintenance while the machine is connected to the power supply! ⚠️ This can cause injury due to unintended startup.
The machine requires minimal maintenance. For malfunctions or defects, contact trained service personnel.
Regular cleaning after each use prolongs the machine's lifespan and ensures a safe working environment.
Before first operation and every 100 operating hours, lubricate all connecting parts. Remove swarfs and dust beforehand.
Regularly check security stickers and replace if necessary.
Check the condition and adjustment of the saw blade guiding rollers, as they are essential for smooth operation and clean cuts.
Store the machine in a closed, dry location, away from high humidity.
Maintenance and Servicing Plan
Task | Frequency |
---|---|
Check for loose or lost screws | Prior to operation |
Check for damages of any machine part | Prior to operation |
Clean machine | After operation |
Lubricate all moving parts (esp. Gear box) | After first 10 operating hours, then every 3 months |
Adjust guiding rollers | Every month |
Cleaning
Clean the machine from dust and metal swarfs with a damp cloth. Apply a thin layer of corrosion protection to unpainted surfaces.
ADVICE: The use of solvents, aggressive chemicals, or abrasives damages the surface! ?
Saw Blade Change
ALWAYS WEAR SECURITY GLOVES WHEN TOUCHING THE SAW BLADE.
- Swing the saw arm fully up.
- Remove the 6 screws from the saw arm cover and remove the cover.
- Loosen the band saw blade using the belt tension knob (9).
- Remove the old saw blade.
- Install the new saw blade, ensuring it is oriented correctly (teeth facing the direction of cut).
- Slowly spin the blade wheels until the blade runs smoothly on them.
- Tighten the blade using the blade tension knob (9).
- Spin the blade wheel again and check if the blade is running straight.
- Re-mount the saw arm cover.
Adjust Guiding Rollers
The band saw blade is guided by rollers (7). The bearings are factory-set. If poor cutting results occur due to unstable blade run, the rollers may be the cause.
Adjust the band run by loosening the tightening screws of the rollers and repositioning them.
Replace the bearings of the saw blade guide rollers at least once a year.
Troubleshooting
Disconnect the machine from the power source before performing any checks or repairs.
Error | Possible Cause | Resolution |
---|---|---|
Machine does not start | Machine is not connected to power source | Check the power source |
Fuse defect, safety fuse deactivated | Change fuse, activate fuse | |
Cable defect | Exchange cable | |
Saw Blade does not reach full speed | Motor has not full power | Check if extension cord is too long; replace if necessary. Let an electrician check if the motor receives power through all 3 phases and if the power supply is suitable for the machine. |
Machine vibrates strongly | Uneven underground | Adjust |
Motor mounting is loose. | Tighten | |
Saw blade tension spring is worn or defect. | Replace | |
Bad cutting results | Too fast feeding rate | Lower the saw arm slower |
Saw blade is running too loose | Tighten it a bit more with knob (9) | |
Saw blade is worn | Replace | |
False saw blade for material | Use correct saw blade (material, number of teeth) | |
Guiding rollers | Readjust |
