Introduction

This manual contains important information and instructions for the installation and correct use of the Holzmann ZS400U and ZS560U mini wide belt sanders. Please read and obey all safety instructions. Technical specifications are subject to change.

Safety Instructions

General Safety:

Read the user and maintenance manual carefully before operating the machine.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (eye protection, ear protection, dust mask, safety shoes).
Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the machine.
Do not operate the machine if you are tired, not concentrated, or under the influence of medication, alcohol, or drugs.
Do not use the machine in areas with flammable vapors or liquids.
Ensure the machine is properly earthed.
Always disconnect the machine from the power supply before cleaning, maintenance, or repair work.

Operation

Starting/Stopping:

Press the ON/OFF switch to position A to start the machine.
Press the ON/OFF switch to position B to stop the machine.

Adjusting Sanding Height: Use the handle to adjust the height. The adjusted height can be checked on the scale or the crank handle counter.

Choosing the Feeding Speed: The feed rate can be infinitely adjusted using the potentiometer. Select a slower feed rate for harder wood and finer grain. A maximum material removal of 0.15 mm is recommended.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning:

Use only mild detergents and avoid solvents or nitro thinners.
Lubricate bare machine parts with acid-free lubricating oil.
Clean the machine after each use.

Maintenance:

Disconnect the machine from the power supply before maintenance.
Check safety devices regularly.
Check screw connections weekly.
Ensure warning and safety labels are legible.

Changing Sanding Belt

CAUTION: Before changing the belt, stop the spindles and wait for them to come to a standstill.

Open the cover, unthread the old sanding belt, and thread the new belt, ensuring it is tight and not loose. Available sanding belts include K80, K100, K120, K150 (ZS400 only), K240 (ZS560U only).

Storage

NOTICE: Store the machine and parts in a dry environment to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting

Uneven thickness of workpiece	Sanding drum not parallel to table	Set sanding drum parallel to the table
Bad grinding results	Abrasive too coarse-grained, Too much pressure, Sanding across the grain	Use less coarse abrasive, Reduce pressure, Change sanding direction towards the grain
Machine stops during operation	Motor protection triggered	Switch off the machine, wait for motor to cool, identify and remove cause of overloading.
