4. Getting Started
Charging the Keyboard
Diagram: Shows charging status (pulsing green) and fully charged status (solid green).

ℹ️ For optimal use, ensure the keyboard is fully charged before first use. The keyboard can still be used while charging.

Low Battery Notification

6. Configuring Razer Synapse
This guide outlines the new Razer Synapse application and may only partially cover your device's features. Razer Synapse requires an internet connection for installation, updates, and cloud-based features. Razer ID registration is optional. Features may vary by version, connected devices, and supported add-ons.
“SYNAPSE Cloud” Tab
When you first launch Razer Synapse, the “Synapse Cloud” tab is the default. Use the following buttons to navigate the user interface:
- Minimize: Minimizes the application to the system tray while it runs in the background.
- Maximize: Expands the window to fill the entire screen. Click again to restore the window to its original size.
- Close: Closes all related tabs and terminates the application.
- < Previous Tab: Returns to the last visited tab.
- > Next Tab: If you recently used the “Previous Tab” button, clicking this button will advance to the next page.
- Refresh Tab: Reloads the current page. Use this button if the page is displayed incorrectly or you want to view the latest content.
Synapse Interface Navigation
- Further: If this button appears, it indicates changes to the application. Use it to refresh if the page is displayed incorrectly or you want to view the latest content.
- More: Clicking this button opens a window to access the “Devices”, “Modules”, and “Other Installed Applications” tabs.
- Settings: Clicking this button opens the “Settings” tab for quick changes to the application's settings.
- Profile: This button opens a pop-up window to access “Sign In”, “Feedback”, “Rate Software”, “Add Wi-Fi Device”, and “Exit” options.
- Information: Hovering your mouse over this button displays additional information about a feature or function.
- Control Panel: The “Control Panel” tab serves as the main console for Razer Synapse, allowing access to all Razer devices, modules, and online services.
Gamer Room
The “Gamer Room” tab displays all devices with Razer Aether functionality. Here, you can view and manage devices that support Gamer Room.
Synapse Cloud Overview
This section allows you to select and customize lighting effects for your devices, and use Razer Synapse to synchronize devices with supported Chroma-enabled games and Chroma Connect applications.
Controlled by Gamer Room App
This section displays all devices remotely controlled by the Gamer Room application.
Devices and Modules
The “Modules” tab lists all installed and available modules.
General Shortcuts
Bind actions or Razer Synapse functions to custom key combinations for any Synapse-enabled device input, and apply them across all device profiles. ℹ️ Only inputs from Synapse-enabled devices are recognized.
Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-profile HyperSpeed Configuration
Profile Management
The “Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-profile HyperSpeed” tab is the main tab for your Razer keyboard. You can change device settings here, such as key assignments, lighting effects, and power consumption. Any changes made in this tab are automatically saved to your local system and cloud storage. Use the following buttons to access profile options:
- Profile Dropdown Menu: Clicking this dropdown displays all profiles for the device, allowing you to quickly switch between them.
- ... Other: Clicking this button opens options related to your current profile.
- Onboard Profiles: Clicking this button opens a pop-up window showing remaining storage space and allowing you to transfer or change profiles saved on the device.
Customize Tab
The “Customize” sub-tab allows you to adjust key assignments, optimize polling rate, and configure Snap Tap functionality.
- Game Mode: Disable Windows key, Copilot key, Alt+Tab, and Alt+F4.
- Polling Rate: Adjust polling rate for reduced input lag.
- Hypershift: Activate a secondary layer of key assignments.
- HyperSpeed Multi-Device Pairing: Pair multiple compatible Razer devices using a single receiver.
- Key Responsiveness: Optimize analog key settings for input or game modes.
Remapping Menu
Clicking the “Remap Menu” button () displays all current assignments for your Razer keyboard and allows you to change them.
You can assign functions like Volume Up/Down, Mute, Play/Pause, Next/Previous Track, and more.
Macro keys (M1-M4) can also be assigned.
AI functions can be assigned as well.
Alternatively, you can jump to specific assignments by selecting them in the “Customize” tab.
Assigning Functions
After selecting an assignment, you can change it to one of the following functions:
- Default Settings: Resets the key to its original setting.
- AI Launcher: Opens an embedded window for AI queries. Can be launched from the “AI Prompt Master” or “AI Chat” tabs.
- Keyboard Function: Assign keyboard functions. Turbo mode can be enabled for repeated function key presses.
- Mouse Function: Assign mouse functions such as Left Click, Right Click, Middle Click, Double Click, Scroll Up/Down, Back, Forward, Left/Right Scroll, and Repeat Scroll Up/Down/Left/Right. Turbo mode can be enabled for repeated mouse function presses.
- Macro: Record and assign complex sequences of commands.
- Device Interaction: Control functions of other Razer Synapse-enabled devices.
- Switch Profile: Quickly switch between saved profiles.
- Switch Chroma Effect: Easily cycle through Chroma lighting effects.
- Device Brightness: Adjust or turn off device LED lighting.
- Razer Hypershift: Activate a secondary layer of key assignments.
- Launch Application: Assign keys to open specific applications or websites.
- Multimedia: Assign keys for media playback controls.
- Windows Shortcuts: Assign keys to execute operating system shortcuts.
- Text Function: Input pre-written text. Supports Unicode.
- Disable: Makes an assigned key unusable.
Lighting Settings
The “Lighting” tab allows you to modify your Razer device's lighting settings.
Brightness
Adjust brightness or turn off lights using the slider.
Turn off lights
A power-saving feature that turns off device lighting after a period of inactivity or when the system display is off/auto-shutdown.
Effects
Choose from various lighting effects:
- Environmental Awareness: Keyboard lighting reflects the average color of a selected screen area.
- Audio Meter: Keyboard lighting reacts to audio levels based on color spectrum.
- Breathing Effect: Keys fade in and out with selected colors.
- Firefly Effect: Keys light up warmly to simulate a firefly's glow.
- Ripple Effect: Pressing a key causes the lighting to ripple outwards.
- Spectrum Cycling: Lights cycle through 16.8 million colors.
- Starlight Effect: Each LED fades in and out at random intervals.
- Static Effect: Keys remain lit with the selected color.
- Wave Effect: Lights scroll in a chosen direction.
- Rotational Effect: Keyboard lighting scrolls in a selected direction based on the color spectrum.
Chroma Sync: Sync lighting effects with other Chroma-enabled Razer devices.
Advanced Effects: Select Chroma effect profiles or launch Chroma Studio to create custom effects.
Power Settings
The “Power” tab allows you to manage power consumption when the device is battery-powered.
- Dim Lighting: Device dims after a period of inactivity on battery power.
- Wireless Sleep: Device enters sleep mode after a selected standby time on battery power.
Linked Games
The “Linked Games” tab lets you add applications, link peripherals, or search for games.
Games
Link applications to peripherals. Sort applications alphabetically, by recently played, or most played. Applications are listed even without Razer devices. Add applications manually or via scan. Search for specific games or programs.
To link applications to your Razer devices, select the application and choose the device and its profile. Settings are automatically applied when the application launches.
Devices
The “Devices” tab allows you to view peripherals and link applications to them. You can view linked applications, add new ones, or remove them. Filter applications using the “View” and “Sort” dropdowns. Add executable files by dragging them or using the “Add” button. Use “Refresh” (C) to rescan installed applications, “Search” (Q) to find specific games or programs, or “Browse” to manually search.
To link applications to your Razer devices, select the application in the search interface.
Macros
Macros are pre-recorded sequences of keystrokes, mouse actions, and cursor movements executed with precise timing. You can bind them to a device for execution. This feature requires the Macro module.
My Macros
The “My Macros” sub-tab allows you to create, edit, and organize macros, and assign them to keys or buttons on your Razer devices. Use the following buttons to access macro options:
- Macro Dropdown Menu: Displays all macros for the device. You can search for specific macros, sort them, create new folders, and create new macros. Selecting a macro activates other options like renaming, copying, or deleting.
- ... Other: Clicking this button opens options related to your selected macro.
- New Macro: Use this link to quickly create and select new macros.
Macro Recording
Customize macro recording:
- Start Delay: Set a brief delay (1 to 5 seconds) before recording begins.
- Hotkey: Specify a hotkey to start macro recording, even when Razer Synapse is running in the background.
- Delay Settings: Customize the interval between each command.
- Mouse Movement Tracking: Enable mouse movement recording and set conditions for recording.
After recording macro commands, click the “Stop” button () or press the hotkey to end recording. You can edit your recorded commands by selecting each command on the macro screen. Each keystroke or mouse action is listed sequentially.
Use the “Insert” menu on the left side of the screen to add delays, input keystrokes and mouse actions, insert entire macro groups, launch applications, run commands, type text, and loop commands within a macro.
Key Bindings
The “Key Bindings” sub-tab allows you to view the hotkeys for your selected macros. By clicking the “Assign Macro to Device” button (+), you can bind macros to selected keys without leaving the “Macros” tab.
Settings
Click the (⚙️) button to enter the “Settings” tab, where you can configure various options:
Synapse Cloud
In the “Synapse Cloud” sub-tab, you can find application-specific options.
Auto-Start
Allows you to configure the application's startup behavior.
Notifications
Allows the application to display screen notifications, even when you are running a fullscreen application.
Recommendations
Displays recommendations based on your installed devices and linked games.
Tutorial Reset
Resets tutorials to help you familiarize yourself with Razer Synapse features.
Synapse 3 Profile Migration
Migrate profiles, macros, and Chroma effects from Synapse 3 to Synapse 4.
Device Lighting
Choose which application controls the lighting effects on your devices.
General
Access other application options and find information about the software.
Language
Change the display language of Razer Synapse.
About
Displays the current software version, copyright notice, and links to Razer's terms of use and social communities.
Feedback

7. Safety and Maintenance
Safety Guidelines
To ensure maximum safety when using the Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-profile HyperSpeed, we recommend following these guidelines:
- If the device malfunctions, unplug it and contact Razer support or visit support.razer.com/cn for technical assistance.
- Keep the keyboard and all its parts away from children to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Do not disassemble the device, and do not use it under abnormal electrical load conditions, as this will void the warranty.
- Keep the device away from liquids and humid environments. Use only in environments between 0°C and 40°C. If the temperature exceeds this range, unplug or turn off the device to stabilize the temperature.
Ergonomics
Prolonged repetitive motions, improper setup of computer peripherals, incorrect posture, and bad habits can affect health and cause nerve, tendon, and muscle injuries. The following guidelines can help prevent such injuries and ensure comfortable use of the Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-profile HyperSpeed:
- Position the keyboard and monitor directly in front of you, with the mouse next to the keyboard. Keep your elbows at your sides, not too far out, and place the keyboard within easy reach.
- Adjust the height of your chair and desk so that the keyboard and mouse are not higher than your elbows.
- Ensure your feet are always well-supported and your body is straight with relaxed shoulders.
- Keep your wrists relaxed and straight while gaming. If you perform repetitive motions, try not to bend, stretch, or twist your hands for extended periods.
- Do not rest your wrists on hard surfaces for long periods.
- Use the wrist rest to support your wrists while gaming.
- Customize your keyboard layout based on your gaming style to minimize repetitive or uncomfortable movements.
- Avoid sitting in the same posture all day. Get up from your desk regularly to move around, stretch your arms, and move your shoulders, neck, and legs.
If you experience any discomfort, such as pain, numbness, or tingling in your hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck, or back, consult a qualified medical professional immediately.
Maintenance and Use
The Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-profile HyperSpeed requires minimal maintenance to maintain optimal performance. We recommend unplugging the device and turning off its power monthly for cleaning with a soft cloth or cotton swab to prevent dirt buildup. Do not use soap or corrosive cleaning agents.
Battery Warning
The Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-profile HyperSpeed is equipped with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Generally, the lifespan of this battery depends on usage. If you suspect the built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery of the Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-profile HyperSpeed has been depleted (very low battery), try charging it.
WARNING: Do not open, damage, or expose the battery to conductive materials (metal), humid environments, liquids, fire sources, or heat sources. Doing so may cause battery leakage or explosion, resulting in personal injury. Battery life varies depending on usage.
