This guide provides instructions and information for using your Fitbit Charge 6.

Setting Up Your Charge 6

Download and install the Fitbit app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Your Fitbit Charge 6 works with most phones running Android 9.0 or newer, or iOS 15 or newer. It requires a Google account, the Fitbit mobile app, and internet access. Some features require a Fitbit mobile app subscription. Visit fitbit.com/devices for more information.

Open the Fitbit app and tap 'Join Fitbit'. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a Fitbit account and connect (pair) your Fitbit device with your phone. Pairing ensures your Fitbit device and phone can communicate with each other by syncing data.

Get More with Premium

Your Charge 6 comes with a 6-month Fitbit Premium membership. Achieve new heights in your fitness routine with a complete library of workout programs from Fitbit's expert trainers. Use your daily readiness score to optimize your routine. Choose a subscription to start your membership.

Note: Premium membership is for new and returning users. It must be activated within 60 days of device activation. It renews automatically at the specified monthly rate unless canceled before the trial period ends. Content and features may change and may not be available in all regions. This membership cannot be gifted.

Fitbit Basic Features

Use your Charge 6 daily to track a variety of statistics:

Viewing Your Stats on Charge 6

Swipe up from the clock face to see your daily health and fitness stats:

View a history of your stats in the Fitbit app.

Navigating Charge 6

The clock face is your home screen. Swipe down for quick settings. Swipe up for daily stats. Swipe left or right to see apps on your tracker. Press the button to return to the clock face. To use the button effectively, place your thumb and index finger on either side of the tracker and squeeze.

Daily Goal

Set a goal to make starting your health and fitness journey easier. Your default goal is to walk 10,000 steps a day. You can change the number of steps or choose a different activity goal.

Reminders to Move

Reminders encourage you to walk at least 250 steps each hour. You'll feel a vibration and see a reminder on the screen 10 minutes before the hour if you haven't walked 250 steps. If you reach the 250-step goal after receiving a reminder, you'll feel another vibration and see a congratulatory message.

Exercise and GPS

Track specific exercise sessions with the Exercise app on Charge 6 to see real-time statistics, including heart rate data, calories burned, duration, and a post-workout summary on your wrist. For complete exercise statistics and a map of workout intensity (if you used GPS), tap the exercise field in the Fitbit app.

Google Maps Navigation

Get seamless navigation with turn-by-turn directions from Google Maps. Google apps and services may not be available in all countries or languages. Data rates may apply. Control music for your workouts directly from your wrist with YouTube Music control. Start, stop, and skip over 100 million songs from the world's largest music catalog. Get workout music recommendations based on your training.

Note: YouTube Music control requires a YouTube Music Premium subscription. You can try a 1-month free trial. Your compatible phone must be within Bluetooth range of your Fitbit device. Works with most phones running Android 9 or iOS 15 or newer. Requires a Google account and internet access.

Heart Zones

Charge 6 personalizes your heart rate zones based on your resting heart rate. This helps you target your workout intensity. Your tracker will notify you when you enter a heart rate zone.

Heart Rate on Equipment

Connect your Charge 6 to your favorite compatible exercise machine and see your heart rate in real-time directly on the display. Compatible with exercise machines that support the Bluetooth Heart Rate profile, such as newer models from iFit, Nordictrack, Peloton, Concept2, and Strava. Pulse communication is unencrypted, similar to a chest strap with a heart rate monitor.

Sleep

Wear your Charge 6 to bed to automatically track basic sleep statistics, including time asleep, sleep stages (time in REM, light, and deep sleep), and sleep score (sleep quality). Charge 6 also tracks your estimated blood oxygen variation (SpO2) throughout the night to help identify potential breathing disturbances and your skin temperature variation.

View your sleep statistics by syncing your tracker when you wake up and checking the Fitbit app or by swiping up from the clock face on your tracker.

Payments

Add your credit and debit cards to select Fitbit devices to make contactless payments directly from your device, even when traveling internationally. Google Pay protects your payment information with multiple layers of security. When you pay in stores, Google Pay does not share your actual card number. Using contactless payments on your Fitbit device requires a personal 4-digit PIN code. You'll need to enter your PIN when you authorize a payment the first time, since removing your device, or if 24 hours have passed since your last payment.

Alarms and Timers

Set one-time or recurring alarms using the alarms app. Your tracker will vibrate when an alarm goes off.

Quick Settings

Get quick access to settings by swiping down from the clock face.

Notifications

A notification causes your tracker to vibrate. Tap the notification to expand the message. If you don't read a notification when it arrives, you can check it later in the notifications app. Swipe right or left on the notifications app, then swipe up to open it.

Charging Your Device

Hold the end of the charging cable near the port on the back of the watch until it magnetically attaches. If your device is charging, the Fitbit logo or battery percentage will appear on the screen. If you see a blank screen, remove the device from the charger and try again.

Charging can take up to 2 hours, depending on the current battery level. A fully charged Charge 6 has a battery life of up to 7 days. Battery life and charging time may vary based on usage, settings, and other factors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sync my Fitbit device?

Syncing is the process of transferring the data your device collects to your Fitbit account. Follow your progress, see how you slept, set goals, and log food and water in the Fitbit app.

  1. Force close the Fitbit app on your phone. Refer to the Apple help article or Android help article (Google).
  2. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and on again.
  3. Open the Fitbit app and try to sync your device.
  4. If your device doesn't sync, restart it.

How do I restart my Fitbit device?

If you experience any of the following issues, restart your tracker:

Restarting your tracker does not delete any data.

To restart:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable.
  2. Press the button on the flat end of the charger 3 times within 8 seconds, holding each press for about 1 second.
  3. Wait 10 seconds, or until the Fitbit logo appears.

Note: If the device does not restart, wait 15 seconds and try again.
