Installation Instructions
If you are unsure about the installation of this timer, please contact a licensed electrician.
Pre-installation Precautions
- For supply connections: use 14 AWG or larger wires suitable and rated for at least 75°C.
- For grounding lead: use 12 AWG or larger wires suitable and rated for at least 75°C.
- Tighten wire connections to 12.4 lbf-in. (1.4 Nm).
- Use copper wire only.
Step-by-Step Installation
Safety First
- Turn power off at the circuit breaker or fuse box before installation.
Preparation
- Remove the current wallplate and switch from the wall box.
- Strip wires to 5/8" (16mm).
- Remove the timer from its packaging. Identify the terminals on the back: LINE, LOAD, NEUTRAL, and GROUND.
Wiring Connections
- Loosen the LINE and LOAD terminal screws using a flat-blade or Phillips screwdriver. Stop when you feel resistance; do not remove the screws.
- Insert the line-side wire from the wall box into the terminal marked LINE and tighten the screw.
- Insert the load-side wire from the wall box into the terminal marked LOAD and tighten the screw.
- Attach the ground wire from the wall box to the ground lug on the timer.
- Insert and tighten the provided white jumper wire into the terminal marked NEUTRAL.
- Connect the timer's neutral wire (white) to the neutral wire in the wall box. This wire may be connected with a wire nut along with other neutral wires. Add the timer's neutral wire to the existing bundle and retighten the wire nut securely.
- Gently tug each wire to ensure a secure connection and retighten if necessary. Confirm all wires and wire nuts are secure.
Mounting and Finalization
- Insert the timer into the 2 1/2" wall box, taking care not to pinch any wires. Ensure the "TOP" indicator on the timer's yoke is facing upwards.
- Fasten the timer to the wall box using the provided screws.
- Place the rocker/decorator wallplate onto the timer, being careful not to overtighten the wallplate screws.
- Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker or fuse box.

Typical SPST Installation
The diagram illustrates a single-pole, single-throw (SPST) installation. It shows the connections between the power source (120 VAC), the timer's LINE, LOAD, NEUTRAL, and GROUND terminals, and the light fixture. The power source's black wire (Line) connects to the timer's LINE terminal. The power source's white wire (Neutral) connects to the timer's NEUTRAL terminal via a jumper wire. The power source's green wire (Ground) connects to the timer's GROUND terminal. The timer's LOAD terminal connects to the wire going to the light fixture. The diagram also depicts a wiring nut connecting the neutral wires and the ground wire connection to the timer's ground lug. The light fixture is shown connected between the LOAD terminal and the Neutral wire.
Compatibility
