Installation Steps
Step 1: Base Assembly
Diagram Description: Shows the base components (1) being assembled. Two base pieces (1) are positioned. Screws (M) are used to attach them, with four screws (M) on each side. A water level is used to ensure the base is level. Two diagonal braces (DET A) are attached to the base. The diagram indicates that diagonal measurements should be equal for proper squaring.
Action: Assemble the base structure using parts 1 and screws M. Ensure the base is level and square by checking diagonal measurements.
Step 2: Attaching Staves to Base
Diagram Description: Shows the process of attaching the staves (W, Y, Z) to the base cradles (1). Stave 2 is centered on cradle 1. Cradles are positioned inside the grooves of stave 2. The diagram shows the use of parts W, Y, Z, and X (drain set). Screws (M) are used for attachment.
Action: Attach the staves to the base cradles, ensuring they fit into the grooves. Use screws (M) for secure attachment.
Step 3: Forming the Barrel Shape
Diagram Description: Shows the staves being attached to form the barrel shape. A water level is used to ensure alignment. Screws (M) are used to fasten the staves together. The diagram shows multiple staves being attached sequentially.
Action: Continue attaching staves to form the barrel structure, using screws (M) and ensuring proper alignment with a water level.
Step 4: Securing Outer Bands
Diagram Description: Shows the outer bands (B) being installed around the barrel. Brackets (DET 3) are used to temporarily support the walls. Screws (H) are used to secure the bands. A detail shows drilling 4 holes with a 1/2 inch diameter through DET 2 outside. An IMPORTANT note advises leaving an approximately 1/4 inch gap when tightening screws to allow for adjustment when the outer bands (B) are installed.
Action: Install the outer bands (B) around the barrel. Use temporary supports (DET 3) and screws (H). Ensure a slight gap is maintained for adjustment.
Step 5: Adding More Staves and Bands
Diagram Description: Continues the process of adding staves and securing them with bands. The diagram shows using a strap to support boards during installation. It also shows removing temporary bracing and further securing with bands (DET 3).
Action: Continue adding staves and securing them with bands, using straps for support and removing temporary bracing.
Step 6: Joining Boards for Gaps
Diagram Description: Shows how to join boards (6, 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) to bridge gaps (A gap). Two boards are joined together to span the gap, recommended to be approximately 1/4 inch wider than the gap. A circular saw might be used to trim edges. Screws (4) are used to fasten the joined boards.
Action: Join designated boards to bridge any gaps in the barrel wall, ensuring they are slightly wider than the gap. Fasten securely with screws.
Step 7: Installing Outer Bands (Continued)
Diagram Description: Shows the installation of outer bands (DET B, DET B1). The bands are placed around the barrel on the outer side of the cradle. Screws and bolts (C, D, E) are used for securing. A detail shows a measurement of approximately 9 7/16 inches.
Action: Install the remaining outer bands, ensuring they are correctly positioned and secured with the provided hardware.
Step 8: Installing Vents and Bench Supports
Diagram Description: Shows the installation of upper and lower vents (DET G, DET F). Screws (K) are used for attachment. It also shows the installation of bench supports (10a) using screws (H) and DET 10. A note mentions that 72" and 88" saunas with front-glass walls use 4 pieces of DET 10a.
Action: Install the vents and bench supports. Ensure correct placement and secure with screws.
Step 9: Installing Benches
Diagram Description: Shows the installation of benches. Bench slats (10c) are attached to the bench supports (10a) using screws (M) and DET 11. A water level is used for accurate installation. The diagram shows attachment points under the benches.
Action: Install the bench slats onto the bench supports, ensuring they are level and securely fastened.
Step 10: Accommodating Heater and Safety Rail
Diagram Description: Shows the installation of support pieces (15a, 15b, 15c, 15d). A note advises trimming part 15A if needed to accommodate the heater size. It also shows the mounting of the sauna heater before installing the safety rail, per manufacturer's recommended safety clearance. Screws (H, I, J) are used.
Action: Install support pieces as shown. Prepare for heater installation by ensuring proper clearances and mounting the heater before the safety rail.
Step 11: Door Installation
Diagram Description: Shows the installation of the door frame components (20, 20a, 20b, 20c, 20d) and the door itself (DET 22). Screws (M, J, H) are used. The diagram emphasizes ensuring the door frame is pressed tightly against the wall and fastened from the inside. A water level is used. The front wall thickness is noted (Wooden front wall 1 1/8", Glass front wall 1 5/8").
Action: Assemble and install the door frame and door. Ensure a tight fit against the wall and secure from the inside.
Step 12: Roof Shingle Installation
Diagram Description: Shows the installation of roof shingles (DET N, DET O). The diagram shows overlapping shingles on top and cutting DET N into three equal segments. It also mentions checking the roof shingles installation manual inside the package.
Action: Install the roof shingles according to the provided diagrams and any additional instructions in the shingles package.
Step 13: Final Assembly
Diagram Description: Shows the final assembly steps, likely securing the roof or final components. It shows the use of DET 25 and screws (H). It also indicates to remove DET A.
Action: Complete the final assembly, securing all components and removing any temporary bracing.
