Water Resistance Usage Details

⚠️ WARNING

  1. Watches with 30 m (3 bar) water resistance for everyday use can be used during washing, etc., but not in conditions where they will be submerged in water.
  2. Watches with enhanced water resistance Class I (50 m / 5 bar) for everyday use can be used during swimming, etc., but not during diving or underwater swimming.
  3. Watches with enhanced water resistance Class II (100 m or 200 m / 10 or 20 bar) for everyday use can be used during diving or underwater swimming, but not during scuba diving with an oxygen tank or diving operations with helium-based autonomous breathing apparatus.

⚠️ ATTENTION

  1. The crown should be in the recessed (normal) position. If it is a screw-down type, ensure it is tightly screwed down.
  2. Do not operate the crown underwater or when the watch is wet. Water may penetrate the watch case and compromise its water resistance.
  3. If your watch is not water-resistant, avoid water splashes (e.g., during washing, in rainy weather) and condensation. If the watch gets wet or condensation forms, wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
  4. Even if your watch is water-resistant for everyday use, avoid strong jets of water. Exceeding the specified water pressure level may compromise the watch's water resistance.
  5. If your water-resistant watch for everyday use comes into contact with seawater, shake off the water and wipe the case dry to prevent corrosion or other negative effects.
  6. A small amount of moisture is contained within the watch case. Therefore, when the ambient air temperature is lower than the air temperature inside the watch case, condensation may form on the inner surface of the glass. If the condensation is temporary, it does not harm the watch. However, if condensation persists for an extended period or if water has entered the watch, consult the place of purchase and do not ignore this problem.

Other Considerations

(2) Shock Resistance

  1. Remove the watch during vigorous sports, although sports like golf, etc., will not negatively affect the watch's condition.
  2. Avoid strong impacts such as dropping the watch on the floor.

(3) Magnetic Field Exposure

  1. Do not expose the watch to strong magnetic fields for extended periods, as watch components may become magnetized, leading to disruption of watch operation. Exercise caution.
  2. Under the influence of a magnetic field, the watch may temporarily run fast or slow. The accuracy of the watch will be restored once the magnetic field is removed. In such cases, reset the time.

(4) Vibration

The watch may lose accuracy if subjected to strong vibration, such as that caused by riding a motorcycle, using a jackhammer, a chainsaw, etc.

(5) Temperature

The watch may run incorrectly or stop at temperatures below or above the normal range (5°C – 35°C).

⚠️ ATTENTION

Do not use the watch in high temperatures (e.g., in a sauna). The watch may become hot and cause burns.

(6) Chemicals, Gases, etc.

Exercise maximum caution when in contact with gases, mercury, chemicals (paint thinner, gasoline, various solvents, cleaning agents containing such substances, adhesives, paints, medications, perfumes, cosmetics, etc.). These substances may change the color of the watch case, bracelet/strap, and dial. Color changes, deformation, and damage to polymer components are also possible.

(7) Small Parts

⚠️ WARNING

Do not give bracelet/strap pins and other small parts to children. In case of swallowing a small part, seek medical attention immediately.

(8) Allergic Reactions

⚠️ ATTENTION

If pain, rash, or irritation appears on the skin after contact with the bracelet, stop wearing the watch and seek medical attention immediately.

(9) Luminescent Coating

Some watches have a luminescent coating on the hands and dial. It is made of safe, non-radioactive paint that accumulates sunlight and artificial light and emits it in the dark. As it emits the accumulated light, the coating gradually becomes dimmer. The amount of light emitted and the duration of luminescence depend on various factors: the shape of the glass, the thickness of the paint layer, the ambient brightness level, the distance from the watch to the light source, and the degree of light absorption. Remember that if only a small amount of light is accumulated, the watch will glow weakly or for a short time.

(10) Water-Resistant Strap

Some models use leather and nylon straps that have undergone special treatment for protection against sweat and water. The water-resistant property of this strap may be lost depending on the period and conditions of use.

DETERMINING THE CALIBER NUMBER

Check your watch's caliber number using the watch model number or the case code on the back of the watch case.

1. Finding the 10-digit Model Number

Check the 10-digit model number on the warranty card included with the watch. You can also find the number on the product label attached to the watch. The second and third characters of the number indicate your watch's caliber number.

Example: If the model number is “UNA5007B”, the caliber number is “UN”.

2. Finding the Case Code

Find the case code on the back of your watch case. The first two digits correspond to the caliber number.

[Image Description: A diagram showing the back of a watch case with the ORIENT logo, "WATER RESISTANT", "ALL STAINLESS STEEL", "ORIENT WATCH CO.,LTD.", and a serial number. An arrow points to the area labeled "Код корпуса" (Case Code), indicating "KY (UNA5-DO) CS".]

Example: If the case code is “UNA5-D0”, the caliber number is “UN”.

* Depending on the watch's characteristics, the location of the case code may vary, and its characters may be small and difficult to distinguish.

* Drawings and illustrations in this manual may differ from the actual appearance of your watch, but the functions and operating procedures remain unchanged.

* The position of the crown, date and day of week indicators, etc., may vary on different watch models.

* On some watches, date indicators may be located in different positions – as separate digits for tens and units, or as a single date indicator.

MODELS WITH SCREW-DOWN CROWN

On some models, you cannot pull out the crown without unscrewing it (models with a screw-down crown).

To operate this type of watch:

  1. Before setting the time or date, turn the crown counter-clockwise to unlock it.
  2. After setting the time or date, push the crown in and turn it clockwise until it stops to lock it.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

SETTING THE TIME

  1. When the second hand reaches the 0-second position (12 o'clock), pull the crown out to the second click. The second hand will stop.
  2. Turn the crown to set the time. To set the time accurately, set the minute hand 4-5 minutes past the desired time, then move it back to the correct position.

* Since the date changes at midnight, try not to confuse a.m. and p.m. when setting the time.

  1. Push the crown in to return it to its original (unlocked) position.
[Image Description: Diagrams illustrating the crown positions for setting time: pulling out to the second click, turning clockwise for time setting, and pushing back in.]

SETTING THE CALENDAR

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click. On these watches, the crown can be pulled out to the first and second clicks.
  2. Turn the crown to set the current date and day of the week.

* On models with a separate date indicator, the tens digit will advance by one each time the units digit changes from 9 to 0.

See the table below for details on how to turn the crown.

* On some watches, the crown may rotate in the opposite direction to that indicated in the table below.

⚠️ WARNING

Do not change the calendar settings when the hands are in one of the segments indicated below. Otherwise, the settings may change incorrectly. If you need to change the calendar settings during this time period, first move the hands to any area of the dial except the indicated segments, then perform the settings, and then reset the correct time.

  • Models with date indicator: From 8:00 p.m. (20:00) to 2:00 a.m. (2:00)
  • Models with date and day of week indicator: From 8:00 p.m. (20:00) to 5:00 a.m. (5:00)

* The day of the week may be displayed in two languages (depending on the specific model's characteristics, only one language may be available). Select the language.

Date Adjustment at the End of the Month

* If a month has 30 days or fewer, the date needs to be adjusted. In such cases, set the date to the 1st of the following month.

* The position of the crown, date and day of week indicators, etc., may vary on different watch models.

USING THE ROTATING BEZEL

Note that some models are equipped with a rotating bezel, which should be used properly.

Rotate the bezel to align the ∇ mark with the minute hand. As a specific time passes, you can measure the elapsed time by the distance between the minute hand and the numbers on the rotating bezel. You can also set the ∇ mark to a desired time to remind yourself of how much time is left until a scheduled event.

[Image Description: A diagram of a watch with a rotating bezel. The bezel has markings from 0 to 60. The minute hand is shown pointing to a position, and an arrow indicates elapsed time measured against the bezel markings. The text states: "Elapsed time". Below the watch, it says: "As shown above, 20 minutes have passed since 10:10."]

The bezel cannot be rotated in the opposite direction because it is equipped with a safety mechanism designed to prevent accidental operation due to force or impact. The numbers on the rotating bezel can also simplify reading the current time.

* Depending on the design, the reverse rotation prevention and 1-minute "click" may not be present on some models.
