HANDLING THE WATCH

(1) Water Resistance

The table below classifies watches based on their water resistance and suitability for various activities.

Type Water Resistance Classification
Without marking (WATER RESIST) Daily use (WATER RESISTANT) Enhanced Class I for daily use (WATER RESISTANT) 50m (5bar) Enhanced Class II for daily use (WATER RESISTANT) 100m (10bar) / 200m (20bar) Diver's watches for scuba diving (AIR DIVER'S 100m / 150m / 200m) Diver's watches for mixed gas diving (He-GAS DIVER'S 200m / 300m /...)
Water-permeable
Water-resistant for daily use
Enhanced water resistance Class I for daily use
Enhanced water resistance Class II for daily use
Diver's watches for scuba diving
Diver's watches for mixed gas diving

* It is recommended to use the watch in accordance with the above classification, after checking the water resistance marking on the dial or case.

⚠️ WARNING

  1. Water-resistant watches for daily use rated 30m (3 bar) can be used for washing hands and similar activities, but not for immersion in water.
  2. Water-resistant watches for daily use rated 50m (5 bar) can be used for swimming, but not for diving or skin diving.
  3. Water-resistant watches rated 100m or 200m (10 or 20 bar) can be used for diving or skin diving, but not for saturation diving with helium-mixed gas or professional diving.

❗️ ATTENTION

  1. When operating the watch, the crown must be in the normal (pushed-in) position. If the watch has a screw-down crown, it must be securely screwed down.
  2. Do not use the crown underwater or if the watch is wet. Water can penetrate the case and compromise its water resistance.
  3. If your watch is not water-resistant, avoid splashes (e.g., during washing, in rain), and condensation. If water gets on the watch or it fogs up, wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
  4. Even if your watch is water-resistant for daily use, avoid strong jets of water. Exceeding the rated water pressure may compromise the watch's water resistance.
  5. If your water-resistant watch for daily use gets saltwater on it, rinse it with fresh water and wipe it dry to prevent corrosion or other damage.
  6. There is a small amount of moisture inside the case. Therefore, when the ambient temperature is lower than the temperature inside the case, condensation may form on the inner surface of the glass. If the condensation is temporary, it does not harm the watch. However, if the condensation persists for a long time or if water has entered the watch, consult your place of purchase and do not ignore this problem.

(2) Shock Resistance

Remove your watch during strenuous sports activities. However, sports like golf will not negatively affect the watch's condition.

Avoid strong impacts, such as dropping the watch on the floor.

(3) Magnetic Field Exposure

Do not expose the watch to strong magnetic fields for extended periods, as this may magnetize the watch's components, leading to malfunctions. Exercise caution.

Under the influence of a magnetic field, the watch may temporarily run fast or slow. Accuracy will be restored once the magnetic field is removed. In such cases, reset the time.

(4) Vibration

The watch may lose accuracy if subjected to strong vibrations, such as those caused by riding a motorcycle, using a jackhammer, or a chainsaw.

(5) Temperature

The watch may run incorrectly or stop at temperatures below or above the normal range (5°C – 35°C).

❗️ ATTENTION
Do not wear the watch in high temperatures (e.g., in a sauna). The watch may become hot and cause burns.

(6) Chemicals, Gases, etc.

Exercise extreme caution when in contact with gases, mercury, chemicals (paint thinner, gasoline, various solvents, detergents containing such substances, adhesives, paints, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, cosmetics, etc.). These substances may change the color of the watch case, bracelet/strap, and dial. Changes in color, deformation, and damage to polymer components are also possible.

(7) Additional Details

⚠️ WARNING
Do not give bracelet/strap pins and other small parts to children. If a small part is swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

(8) Allergic Reactions

❗️ ATTENTION
If you experience itching or rash on your skin after contact with the bracelet, stop wearing the watch and consult a doctor immediately.

(9) Luminescent Coating

Some watches feature a luminescent coating on the hands and dial. This coating is made from safe, non-radioactive paint that absorbs sunlight and artificial light, emitting it in the dark. As it emits stored light, the coating gradually becomes dimmer. The amount of light emitted and the duration of luminescence depend on various factors: the shape of the glass, the thickness of the paint layer, the brightness of the surrounding environment, the distance from the watch to the light source, and the degree of light absorption. Remember that if little light is absorbed, the watch will glow weakly or for a short time.

(10) Water-resistant Strap

Some models use leather and nylon straps that have been specially treated to protect against sweat and water. The water-resistant property of this strap may be lost depending on the period and conditions of use.

CALIBER NUMBER IDENTIFICATION

Check your watch's caliber number by the watch model number or case code on the back cover of the watch case.

1. Finding the 10-digit Model Number

Check the 10-digit model number on the warranty card included with the watch. You can also find the number on the product label attached to the watch. The second and third characters of the number indicate your watch's caliber number.

Example: If the model number is "UNA5007B", the caliber number is "UN".

2. Finding by Case Code

Locate the case code on the back cover of your watch. The first two digits correspond to the caliber number.

Example: If the case code is "UNA5-D0", the caliber number is "UN".

Description of Diagram: The diagram shows the back of a watch case with markings like "ORIENT", "KY UNA5-DO CS", "WATER RESISTANT", "ALL STAINLESS STEEL", "ORIENT WATCH CO.,LTD.", and a serial number "000000". The "Case code" is indicated.

* Depending on the watch's characteristics, the location of the case code may vary, its characters may be small and difficult to distinguish.

* Illustrations and diagrams in this manual may differ from the actual appearance of your watch, but the functions and operating procedures remain unchanged.

COMPONENT NAMES AND FUNCTIONS

Component Labels:

Description of Diagrams: Two watch face diagrams are shown. The first, labeled "<With date indicator>", shows hour, minute, and second hands, a date window (F), and the crown (D). The second, labeled "<With date and day of the week indicator>", shows hour, minute, and second hands, a date window (F), a day of the week indicator (G), and the crown (D).

* The position of the crown, date and day of the week indicators, etc., may vary on different watch models.

* On some watches, date indicators may be located in different positions, as separate digits for tens and units, or as a single date indicator.

MODELS WITH SCREW-DOWN CROWN

On some models, you cannot pull out the crown without unscrewing it (models with a screw-down crown).

For operating this type of watch:

  1. Before setting the time or date, turn the crown counter-clockwise to unlock it.
  2. After setting the time or date, push the crown in and turn it clockwise until it stops to lock it.

SETTING THE TIME

  1. When the second hand reaches the 0-second position (12 o'clock), pull the crown out to the second click. The second hand will stop.
  2. Turn the crown to set the time. To set the exact time, set the minute hand 4-5 minutes ahead of the desired time, then move it back to the correct position.
  3. Note: Since the date changes at midnight, try not to confuse a.m. and p.m. when setting the time.
  4. Push the crown back to its original (unlocked) position.

SETTING THE CALENDAR

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click. On these watches, the crown can be pulled out to the first or second click.
  2. Turn the crown to set the current date and day of the week.
  3. Note: On models with a separate date indicator, the tens digit will advance by one each time the units digit changes from 9 to 0.
  4. Note: On some watches, the crowns may turn in the opposite direction to that indicated in the table below.
Date Correction Day of the Week Correction
Watches with date indicator Turn clockwise Turn counter-clockwise
Watches with date and day of the week indicator Turn counter-clockwise Turn clockwise

⚠️ WARNING
Do not change the calendar settings when the hands are in one of the segments indicated below. Otherwise, the settings may change incorrectly. If you need to adjust the calendar settings within this time frame, first move the hands to any area of the dial except the indicated segments, then make the adjustments, and then reset the correct time.

Note: The day of the week may be displayed in two languages (depending on the specific model's characteristics, only one language may be available). Select the language.

Description of Diagram: The diagram shows a watch face with hands and indicators. Arrows indicate turning the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise for setting.

SETTING THE DATE AND DAY OF THE WEEK (Continued)

  1. Push the crown back to its original (unlocked) position.
  2. Date correction at the end of the month: If a month has 30 days or less, the date needs to be corrected. In this case, set the date to the [1st] of the following month.
  3. Note: The position of the crown, date and day of the week indicators, etc., may vary on different watch models.

USING THE ROTATING BEZEL

Please note that some models are equipped with a rotating indicator bezel, which should be used correctly.

Turn the bezel to align the ▼ mark with the minute hand. As time passes, you can measure the elapsed time by the distance between the minute hand and the numerals on the rotating bezel. You can also set the mark to a desired time to remind yourself of the remaining time until a scheduled event.

Description of Diagram: A watch face with a rotating bezel is shown. The bezel has markings from 0 to 60. The minute hand is pointing to the 20-minute mark. The text indicates "Elapsed time". Another text box states: "The illustration above shows that 20 minutes have passed since 10:10."

The bezel cannot be turned in the opposite direction as it is equipped with a protective mechanism designed to prevent accidental operation due to force or impact. The numerals on the rotating bezel can also simplify reading the current time.

* Depending on the design, the reverse rotation prevention and 1-minute 'click' may be absent on some models.
