1. Know Your Machine

This section provides an overview of the AUVON EasyStim TN28_OTC device and its components.

Device Diagram and Controls:

The device features a digital display and several control buttons. Key components include:

  • 1. Frequency (Hz): Displays the operating frequency.
  • 2. Program: Indicates the selected program number.
  • 3. "P" (preset mode) / "M" (manual mode): Shows the current operating mode.
  • 4. Channel 1 intensity: Displays the intensity level for Channel 1.
  • 5. Paused indicator: Shows when the device is paused.
  • 6. Pause button: Pauses or resumes the device operation.
  • 7. Program selection button: Cycles through available programs.
  • 8. Channel 1 intensity increase: Increases intensity for Channel 1.
  • 9. Channel 1 intensity decrease: Decreases intensity for Channel 1.
  • 10. Pulse width (uS): Displays the pulse width.
  • 11. Running time (min): Shows the remaining treatment time.
  • 12. Waveform: Displays the selected waveform type.
  • 13. Locked indicator: Indicates when the control panel is locked.
  • 14. Power button: Turns the device on or off.
  • 15. Channel 2 intensity: Displays the intensity level for Channel 2.
  • 16. Low battery indicator: Alerts when batteries are low.
  • 17. MENU button: Used for selecting parameters in manual modes and other functions.
  • 18. Channel 2 intensity increase: Increases intensity for Channel 2.
  • 19. Channel 2 intensity decrease: Decreases intensity for Channel 2.
  • 20. Channel 1: Connection port for Channel 1 lead wire.
  • 21. Belt Clip: For attaching the device to clothing.
  • 22. Channel 2: Connection port for Channel 2 lead wire.

2. Install Batteries

Follow these steps to install batteries:

  • Step 1: Push and press the corner of the clip with your left thumb and pull down with your right hand to open the battery compartment cover.
  • Step 2: Open the lid of the battery compartment.
  • Step 3: Insert the batteries (AA Alkaline 1.5 volt batteries recommended). Ensure the ribbon is positioned behind the batteries for easy removal.

CAUTION: There is a risk of explosion if batteries are fitted incorrectly. Use only specified battery types. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Keep batteries out of reach of children. Remove batteries if the unit is not used for a long period.

A low battery indicator will flash on the screen when batteries are running low, and it is important to change them promptly.

3. Connect Lead Wires to CH1 or CH2

Decide whether to use one or two lead wires. If using two leads, insert the plugs into both the CH1 and CH2 jacks on the unit. If using only one lead, insert it into a single jack.

4. Connect Electrode Pads to Lead Wires

Take the electrode pads from their packaging and connect them to the lead wires. Each lead wire should connect to one electrode pad.

5. Place Electrode Pads

Remove the electrode pads from their protective plastic film and place them onto your skin. Ensure the skin area is clean and thoroughly dry before application. Position the pads on your body as required.

NOTE: The system will automatically set the intensity to "0" for a channel if electrode pads are not correctly attached to the lead wires or placed on the body.

6. Operation of the Device

Power On/Off: Press the power button for 2 seconds to turn the device on or off. The unit will automatically turn off if no other key is pressed for 5 minutes.

Pause/Resume: Press the pause button to pause the unit. Press it again to continue. When paused, the intensity level resets to zero, and a pause indicator is displayed. The device will resume from where it was paused. If the device is paused for over 5 minutes, it will shut off automatically.

Manual Mode Parameter Selection: Press the MENU button to cycle through and select parameters one by one in manual modes.

Intensity Adjustment: Use the CH1 and CH2 intensity increase/decrease buttons (marked with `▲` and `▼`) to adjust the intensity level for each channel from 0 to 60.

Program Selection: Press the program selection button (`P`) to cycle through and select programs. The device offers 32 different programs. The display will show "P" for preset modes or "M" for manual modes. Preset modes are indicated by a small point on the display, pointing to the specific treatment area.

NOTE: If no keys are pressed for 30 seconds, the unit will lock, indicated by a lock symbol on the LCD. To unlock, press the `▼` button on CH1 or CH2.

7. Introduction of Programs

For TENS Programs:

When using any of the 11 TENS programs (P1-P11) for pain relief, begin with the lowest intensity and gradually increase it until a "tingling" sensation is felt. All programs offer different sensations. Experiment with all 11 programs to find what feels best. Never increase intensity to the point of pain; always stay within a comfortable range.

Note on Waveforms: Waveforms are represented by graphical symbols. The primary waveforms are Symmetrical Bi-phasic Rectangular and Alternative mono-phasic rectangular.

EMS Programs (P12-P22):

For muscle stimulation (EMS), programs P12-P22 are recommended for muscle strains, massage, and restoring muscle vitality. Start with low intensity and gradually increase intensity and treatment time. Regular use can provide benefits similar to passive exercise.

Massage Programs (P23-P32):

Gentle massage modes are preprogrammed for relaxation. Programs P23-P32 can be used anytime for relaxation.

Steps to Use Modes

a. Steps to use pre-set modes (P1-P10 for TENS, P12-P21 for EMS, P23-P32 for Massage):

  1. Press the 'P' button to select pre-set modes.
  2. Press the `▲` or `▼` buttons to increase or decrease the intensity level (0-60 intensities).

NOTE: For safety, intensity defaults to "0" if the device is not set up properly. Intensity also defaults to "0" when adjusting waveform or switching modes.

Waveform Selection:

  1. Press the MENU button to make the waveform parameter flash.
  2. Press the CH2 `▲` or `▼` buttons to select the desired waveform. The device offers Symmetrical Bi-phasic Rectangular and Alternative mono-phasic rectangular waveforms. (Note: Programs P30 and P31 have only one waveform option.)

b. Steps to use manual modes (P11 for TENS, P22 for EMS):

  1. If you want to use manual modes, press 'P' to select manual mode P11 (TENS) or P22 (EMS).
  2. Adjust the intensity for the selected channel using the CH1 or CH2 `▲`/`▼` buttons (0-60 intensities).
  3. Press the MENU button to make the time parameter flash.
  4. Press `▲`/`▼` to select the treatment time (options include 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes, including continuous time options). When continuous time is selected, 'TIME' will be displayed accordingly.
  5. Repeat pressing MENU to set up waveform, frequency, and pulse width by using the CH2 `▲`/`▼` buttons.
  6. For EMS manual mode P22, additional adjustable parameters include Rise Time, Action Time, Fall Time, and Rest Time.

Manual Mode Parameter Definitions:

  • Rise Time: The time it takes for the output intensity to gradually increase from low to high (maximum 5 seconds).
  • Action Time: The duration when the intensity is at its maximum (maximum 60 seconds).
  • Fall Time: The time it takes for the output intensity to gradually decrease from high to low (maximum 5 seconds).
  • Rest Time: The duration when the intensity is zero (maximum 60 seconds).

Manual Mode Frequency and Pulse Width Ranges:

  • Frequency: 1-10Hz, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150 Hz (for P11 & P22).
  • Pulse width: 50~250µs (for P11), 50-400µs (for P22).

8. Other Features

  1. The intensity will immediately reset to zero and flash if the unit is not properly connected to the body.
  2. When the output intensity level of CH1 and CH2 is above zero, the corresponding output sockets will light up. If an open circuit occurs, the sockets will light off after 5 seconds.
  3. After powering on, the LCD backlight will turn off automatically if no keys are pressed for 10 seconds. Press any key to relight the LCD.
  4. Treatment time is accumulated when the output level is above zero. Press and hold the "MENU" button and the CH2 `▼` button for 3 seconds to display the accumulated treatment time in minutes. Press and hold the "MENU" button and the CH1 `▼` button for 3 seconds to clear the treatment time to zero.

9. Store Properly After Use

a. After Use:

Always ensure the unit is switched OFF before removing electrodes. After use, return the electrodes to their clear plastic shields. There is no need to separate the leads from the electrodes.

b. Use TENS Pads Holder:

The device includes a TENS Pads Holder made of high-quality ABS material for safe and secure use. It offers wide compatibility for patches of different sizes. The shape is designed with salient points to minimize damage to the patches.

Instruction for Holder Use:

  • Step 1: Stick the electrode patches onto the holder to prevent dust accumulation.
  • Step 2: Wind the lead wires around the holder for easy storage and use, as shown in the illustration.

10. Troubleshooting

Always check the unit and accessories before use to prevent damage and defects.
