Operating Principals and Specifications

Operating Principals

The device uses digital gyroscopes and acceleration sensors for balance and motion control based on the user's center of gravity. A control system drives the motors located within the wheels. A built-in inertia dynamic stabilization system assists balance when moving forward/backward, but not while turning.

TIP: To increase stability, shift your weight to overcome centrifugal force during turns, especially at higher speeds.

⚠️ WARNING: Any malfunctioning Hover-1 Eclipse can cause loss of control and falls. Inspect the entire device thoroughly before each ride and do not ride until problems are corrected.

Controls and Display

Please read the following instructions carefully.

Turning Your Device On/Off

The scooter has a self-balance function that usually activates on power-on. If not, press the power button twice while the scooter is on.

Mat Sensor

Four sensors are located under the foot mats. Stepping off initiates self-calibration. Ensure you step on the foot mats only; do not step on other areas. Applying weight/pressure to only one mat may cause vibration or spinning.

Battery Indicator

Located on the display board:

When the LED light turns red, recharge the device.

Running Indicator

Lights up when foot mats are triggered, indicating the running state. Turns red for system errors.

Bluetooth Speaker Functionality

The Eclipse features powerful built-in wireless speakers for music playback.

Pairing the Speaker

  1. Turn on the Eclipse; speakers will "Ping" to indicate pairing mode.
  2. Place the Eclipse and Bluetooth device within operating distance (recommend within 3 feet).
  3. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
  4. Select "HY-ECL" from the list of available Bluetooth devices.
  5. If prompted, enter PIN code "000000".
  6. The Eclipse will say "Paired" upon successful connection.
  7. Pairing mode lasts two minutes; it will return to standby if no devices are paired.
  8. If pairing fails, turn off the Eclipse and re-pair.
  9. If your smart device is out of range or has low battery, the speaker may disconnect. Reconnect by following pairing steps or recharging.

NOTE: The speaker remembers paired devices and will auto-pair when Bluetooth is active and in range. Up to two devices can be paired for multi-point connection.

Listening to Music

Once paired, stream music wirelessly. Only one speaker plays music; the other is for safety alerts. Select tracks on your device. Volume and track controls are managed via your music device. Refer to your device's manual for streaming issues.

Smart Phone App

The Eclipse is app-enabled for Apple iOS and Android devices. Download the free Hover-1 App to access features like headlight colors and skill mode.

Before Riding

It is crucial to understand all elements of your Eclipse for proper control. Practice using the mechanisms at slower speeds in a flat, open area before riding in public.

Pre-Ride Checklist

Ensure your Eclipse is in proper working order before each ride. If any part malfunctions, contact the Customer Support Center.

⚠️ WARNING: A malfunctioning Eclipse can cause loss of control and falls. Do not ride a damaged scooter; replace damaged parts before riding.

Safety Precautions

Be aware of local laws and regulations governing riding on public roads.

Hover-1 is not liable for tickets or violations due to non-compliance with local laws.

The Eclipse is not equipped with reflectors. Riding in low visibility conditions is not recommended.

⚠️ WARNING: In low visibility (fog, dusk, night), you may be difficult to see, leading to collisions. Keep your headlight on and wear bright, reflective clothing.

Think about safety to prevent accidents. The safety checklist is a helpful resource.

Safety Checklist and Riding Guidelines

⚠️ WARNING: Adult supervision is required. Never use in roadways, near motor vehicles, on steep inclines/steps, or swimming pools/water bodies. Always wear shoes and allow only one rider.

Riding Your Eclipse

FAILURE TO FOLLOW SAFETY PRECAUTIONS CAN LEAD TO DEVICE DAMAGE, VOIDED WARRANTY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, AND DEATH.

Familiarize yourself with operating procedures before use.

Operating Your Device

Ensure the device is fully charged before initial use. Follow charging instructions.

Stepping On: Stand behind the device. Place one foot on the corresponding foot mat, keeping weight on the ground foot. Shift weight to the foot on the device, then step on evenly with the second foot.

[Diagram: Stepping onto the scooter]

? NOTES: Stay relaxed, step on quickly and confidently, like climbing stairs. The Eclipse may vibrate or spin if weight/pressure is applied to only one mat; this is normal. Find your center of gravity; if it's level, you should stand easily. It takes 3-5 minutes to get comfortable and maintain balance. A spotter can help.

The Eclipse is intuitive and senses motion; anxiety can cause panic or unwanted movement.

Moving: To move, focus on your desired direction. Your center of gravity will shift, propelling you. Your center of gravity controls movement, acceleration, deceleration, and stopping. Tilt your center of gravity to move.

Turning: Focus on the direction you wish to turn and stay relaxed.

⚠️ WARNING: Do not turn sharply or at high speeds to avoid danger. Do not turn or ride quickly along slopes, as it may cause injury.

As you become comfortable, maneuvering becomes easier. At higher speeds, shift weight to overcome centrifugal force.

On bumps or uneven surfaces, bend knees, then dismount and carry the Eclipse to a safe surface.

Dismounting and Limitations

? NOTES: Stay relaxed and focus on your center of gravity for full control.

Dismounting can be easy, but incorrect dismounting can cause falls. To dismount: from a stopped position, lift one leg and step back onto the ground (STEPPING BACK). Then step off completely.

[Diagram: Dismounting the scooter]

⚠️ WARNING: Lift your leg completely off the foot mat to clear the device when stepping back to dismount. Failure to do so may send the Eclipse into a tailspin.

Weight and Speed Limitations

Operating Range and Calibration

⚠️ WARNING: Overweight exertion may increase the possibility of injury or product damage.

? NOTES: To prevent injury, when max speed is reached, the Hover-1 Eclipse will beep and tilt the rider slowly back.

Operating Range

The Eclipse can travel up to 8.4 miles on a fully charged battery in ideal conditions. Factors affecting range include:

Balance & Calibration

If your Eclipse is unbalanced, vibrating, or not turning properly, follow these steps to calibrate:

  1. Place the Eclipse on a flat, horizontal surface (floor or table). Foot mats should be even and not tilted. Ensure the charger is unplugged and the board is off.
  2. Press and hold the ON/OFF button for 15 seconds. The scooter will turn on, lighting the battery indicator.
  3. Turn the board off, then turn it back on by pressing the power button twice. Calibration is now complete.

Safety Alerts

If there is a system error or illegal operation, the device will prompt the user. The Running Indicator Light will turn RED, and a beep sound will alert you to take precaution and cease operation, potentially causing a sudden stop.

Common occurrences triggering Safety Alerts:

While sustaining high discharge current (e.g., steep slope for a long period), the engine will power off after 15 seconds.

⚠️ WARNING: When the Eclipse turns off during a Safety Alert, all operation systems halt. Do not continue riding. Turn the Eclipse off and back on to unlock it from a Safety Lock.
