Riding Your Eclipse
FAILURE TO FOLLOW SAFETY PRECAUTIONS CAN LEAD TO DEVICE DAMAGE, VOIDED WARRANTY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, AND DEATH.
Familiarize yourself with operating procedures before use.
Operating Your Device
Ensure the device is fully charged before initial use. Follow charging instructions.
Stepping On: Stand behind the device. Place one foot on the corresponding foot mat, keeping weight on the ground foot. Shift weight to the foot on the device, then step on evenly with the second foot.
[Diagram: Stepping onto the scooter]
? NOTES: Stay relaxed, step on quickly and confidently, like climbing stairs. The Eclipse may vibrate or spin if weight/pressure is applied to only one mat; this is normal. Find your center of gravity; if it's level, you should stand easily. It takes 3-5 minutes to get comfortable and maintain balance. A spotter can help.
The Eclipse is intuitive and senses motion; anxiety can cause panic or unwanted movement.
Moving: To move, focus on your desired direction. Your center of gravity will shift, propelling you. Your center of gravity controls movement, acceleration, deceleration, and stopping. Tilt your center of gravity to move.
Turning: Focus on the direction you wish to turn and stay relaxed.
⚠️ WARNING: Do not turn sharply or at high speeds to avoid danger. Do not turn or ride quickly along slopes, as it may cause injury.
As you become comfortable, maneuvering becomes easier. At higher speeds, shift weight to overcome centrifugal force.
On bumps or uneven surfaces, bend knees, then dismount and carry the Eclipse to a safe surface.
[Diagram: Move Backward] [Diagram: Stop] [Diagram: Move Forward]
Dismounting and Limitations
? NOTES: Stay relaxed and focus on your center of gravity for full control.
Dismounting can be easy, but incorrect dismounting can cause falls. To dismount: from a stopped position, lift one leg and step back onto the ground (STEPPING BACK). Then step off completely.
[Diagram: Dismounting the scooter]
⚠️ WARNING: Lift your leg completely off the foot mat to clear the device when stepping back to dismount. Failure to do so may send the Eclipse into a tailspin.
Weight and Speed Limitations
- Maximum Weight: 220 lbs
- Minimum Weight: 44 lbs
- Maximum Speed: Up to 7.45 mph
Operating Range and Calibration
⚠️ WARNING: Overweight exertion may increase the possibility of injury or product damage.
? NOTES: To prevent injury, when max speed is reached, the Hover-1 Eclipse will beep and tilt the rider slowly back.
Operating Range
The Eclipse can travel up to 8.4 miles on a fully charged battery in ideal conditions. Factors affecting range include:
- Terrain: Riding distance is highest on smooth, flat surfaces. Uphill or rough terrain significantly reduces distance.
- Weight: Lighter users have further range.
- Ambient Temperature: Ride and store under recommended temperatures to increase distance, battery life, and performance.
- Speed and Riding Style: Moderate, consistent speed maximizes distance. High speeds, frequent starts/stops, idling, and frequent acceleration/deceleration decrease range.
Balance & Calibration
If your Eclipse is unbalanced, vibrating, or not turning properly, follow these steps to calibrate:
- Place the Eclipse on a flat, horizontal surface (floor or table). Foot mats should be even and not tilted. Ensure the charger is unplugged and the board is off.
- Press and hold the ON/OFF button for 15 seconds. The scooter will turn on, lighting the battery indicator.
- Turn the board off, then turn it back on by pressing the power button twice. Calibration is now complete.
Safety Alerts
If there is a system error or illegal operation, the device will prompt the user. The Running Indicator Light will turn RED, and a beep sound will alert you to take precaution and cease operation, potentially causing a sudden stop.
Common occurrences triggering Safety Alerts:
- Unsafe riding surfaces (uneven, too steep, unsafe, etc.).
- Platform tilted more than 17 degrees forward or backward when stepping on.
- Battery voltage is too low.
- Device is still charging.
- Platform self-tilts due to excess speed during operation.
- Overheating or motor temperature is too high.
- Device rocking back and forth for over 30 seconds.
- System enters protection mode (alarm indicator lights up, board vibrates), often when the battery is nearly depleted.
- Platform tilted forward or backward more than 17 degrees: Eclipse powers off suddenly, risking loss of balance or falls.
- Tires blocked: Device stops after 2 seconds.
- Battery depleted below protection mode: Device engine powers off after 15 seconds.
While sustaining high discharge current (e.g., steep slope for a long period), the engine will power off after 15 seconds.
⚠️ WARNING: When the Eclipse turns off during a Safety Alert, all operation systems halt. Do not continue riding. Turn the Eclipse off and back on to unlock it from a Safety Lock.
