This document provides installation instructions for the SALTO XS4 Original Ai6xx series electronic door lock.
Certifications:
- BHMA CERTIFIED A156.25 grade 1 (requires SALTO LA1T mortise lock)
- cULus LISTED (requires UL listed SALTO mortise lock or latch)

Important Notes:
- Mortise lock is not included.
- The "A2" version must be installed with the SALTO LT2L tubular latch.
- Use only with SALTO compatible escutcheons.
- Recommended door thickness: greater than 2-3/8" (60mm).
- SALTO recommends using a mortise lock with a maximum 4° pre-turn.
Installation Procedure
1. Handling Selection
This section details how to select the correct handing (left or right) for the lock mechanism. The process involves disassembling the handle, removing the spindle, and reinserting it in the appropriate orientation.
⚠️ Warning: Do not disconnect electrical components during this process.
2. Door Preparation and Initial Mounting
Diagrams illustrate the steps for preparing the door and mounting the lock components.
- Step 1: Drill holes for the latch and spindle. Required hole diameters are: Ø9/16" (Ø14mm) for the spindle, Ø1-1/2" (Ø38mm) for the main lock body, and Ø5/8" (Ø16mm) for the thumb turn mechanism (if applicable).
- Step 2: Install the SALTO LT2Lxx tubular latch into the door edge. Insert the spindle through the latch and the door.
- Step 3: Mount the exterior handle assembly onto the door, ensuring the spindle passes through the handle mechanism.
Note for Thumb Turn Model: This feature is for the inside only.
3. Interior Assembly and Wiring
Diagrams show the subsequent steps for completing the installation.
- Step 4: Mount the interior handle assembly, aligning it with the spindle and mounting screws.
- Step 5: Attach the main lock body and electronic module, securing them with screws.
- Step 6: Install batteries (LR06/AA type) into the battery compartment.
- Steps 7-9: Secure the internal covers and final components.
4. Critical Pre-Programming Step
⚠️ Critical Warning: At this point, do not close the door. Program the lock first. Refer to the user manual for detailed programming instructions.
5. Specific Lock Types and Wireless Connection
Dorm Lock / Key Override Installation
Instructions and diagrams are provided for installing the dorm lock functionality or the key override mechanism, showing specific parts and their correct placement.
Wireless Lock Connection
For wireless models, the installation includes connecting the wireless module. This typically involves unplugging an existing connection and plugging in the wireless module.
Note: For fixing components, turn clockwise.
