SALTO XS4 Original Ai6xx Installation Guide
This document provides installation instructions for the SALTO XS4 Original Ai6xx series electronic locks.
Certifications and Compatibility
- Certifications: UL LISTED, BHMA CERTIFIED A156.25 Grade 1 (when used with SALTO LA1T mortise lock).
- Mortise Lock: Not included. SALTO recommends using a mortise lock with a maximum 4° pre-turn angle.
- Tubular Latch: SALTO LT2Lxx Tubular Latch is required for the "A2" version.
- Escutcheons: Use only with SALTO compatible escutcheons.
- Door Thickness: Applicable for doors with thickness > 2-3/8" (60mm).

The XS4 Original Ai6xx series includes models such as:

Installation Steps
The installation process involves several steps, illustrated with diagrams. Key dimensions include:
- Main body dimensions: 3-1/8" (80mm) and 6-3/4" (170mm).
- Hole diameter for spindle: Ø 9/16" (Ø14mm).
- Hole diameter for cylinder/thumbturn: Ø 1-1/2" (38mm).
Step 1: Select Handing
Determine and set the correct handing for the door mechanism.
Step 2: Prepare Door and Install Latch
This involves fitting the mortise lock and the SALTO LT2Lxx tubular latch. Ensure correct orientation and alignment. The diagram shows the latch mechanism and its dimensions.
Step 3: Mount Exterior and Interior Trim
Attach the exterior and interior handles and escutcheons to the door, securing them with the provided hardware. Follow the sequence shown in the diagrams, ensuring all screws are properly tightened.
Step 4: Connect Internal Mechanism
Connect the internal wiring and mechanism components. A warning is present: "Do not disconnect" ⚠️ [do-not-disconnect-symbol].
Step 5: Secure the Lock Body
Mount the main lock body onto the door, aligning it with the latch and spindle. Secure it using the mounting screws.
Step 6: Install Batteries
Insert batteries (LR06/AA type) into the lock. A "NOT OK" indicator is shown, suggesting correct battery placement is crucial.
Step 7-9: Final Assembly and Testing
Complete the assembly of the handles and any cover plates. Test the lock's functionality, including the latch retraction and deadbolt operation.
Step 10: Programming and Door Closure Warning
CRITICAL WARNING: AT THIS POINT DO NOT CLOSE THE DOOR. PROGRAM THE LOCK FIRST. Refer to the user manual for programming instructions. ⚠️ [warning-symbol]
Special Considerations
Thumb Turn Model
For the thumb turn model, it is to be used only on the inside of the door.
Dorm Lock / Key Override
Instructions are provided for the Dorm Lock / Key Override function, detailing the mechanism for emergency key access or specific lock states.
Wireless Installation
For wireless models, the installation includes connecting the wireless module. The steps show to "Unplug" ? [plug-icon] and then "Plug" ? [plug-icon] the connector to establish wireless communication.
