Bosch SMV4HAX19E Dishwasher Quick Start Guide

This guide provides essential information for the initial setup and operation of your Bosch SMV4HAX19E dishwasher.

Home Connect Setup

Connect your appliance to the Home Connect app for convenient control and settings management.

  1. Scan the QR code below to install the Home Connect app and connect your appliance. [QR code for Home Connect app download]
  2. Follow the instructions within the Home Connect app.

Water Hardness Settings

Adjust the water softener setting based on your local water hardness. Refer to the table for adjustable values.

To adjust:

  1. Press [Control Button].
  2. To open basic settings, press [Setup Button] for 3 seconds. The display will show Hxx.
  3. Press [Control Button] until the correct water hardness is set.
  4. To save settings, press [Setup Button] for 3 seconds.

Adding Special Salt

To prevent appliance damage, add special salt only just before starting a program.

  1. Unscrew and remove the lid of the special salt compartment.
  2. For first-time use: Fill the compartment completely with water.
  3. Pour special salt into the compartment. Water will overflow and drain. Do not add detergent. [Diagram: Salt compartment filling]
  4. Replace and close the salt compartment lid.

Adding Rinse Aid

Ensure optimal drying results by adding rinse aid.

  1. Press the latch on the rinse aid compartment lid and lift it. [Diagram: Rinse aid compartment]
  2. Add rinse aid up to the MAX mark.
  3. Close the rinse aid compartment lid. It will click into place.

Adding Detergent

Add detergent to the dry detergent compartment.

  1. Pour detergent into the dry compartment. [Diagram: Detergent compartment]
  2. Close the detergent compartment lid. It will click into place.

Programs

Program data are laboratory values according to European standard EN 60436. Consumption values are indicative and depend on the selected program and additional functions. Drying times may vary if the rinse aid system is deactivated or if rinse aid is missing.

1 Program suitable for night use: extended running time, therefore very quiet.

Operation

  1. Load the dishwasher. Only wash dishwasher-safe items. Remove coarse food residue. Ensure the spray arms can rotate freely.
  2. Add detergent.
  3. Switch on the appliance [Power Button].
  4. Select the program.
  5. Start the program [Start Button].
  6. Unload the dishwasher after the program finishes.
  7. To interrupt the program, press [Reset Button] for approx. 4 seconds. The program will be interrupted and finish after approx. 1 minute.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Filters

  1. After each wash, check filters for residue.
  2. Turn the coarse filter anti-clockwise and remove the filter system [Diagram: Filter system removal].
  3. Remove the microfilter by pulling it downwards.
  4. Press the retaining tabs and pull the coarse filter upwards.
  5. Wash filter elements under running water.
  6. Reassemble the filter system.
  7. Insert the filter system into the appliance and turn the coarse filter clockwise. Ensure the arrows align.

Cleaning the Spray Arms

  1. Unscrew the upper spray arm and detach it by pulling downwards [Diagram: Spray arm removal].
  2. Pull the lower spray arm upwards.
  3. Check under running water that the spray arm nozzles are not blocked and remove any foreign objects.
  4. Insert the lower spray arm. It will click into place.
  5. Insert the upper spray arm and screw it on tightly.

Cleaning the Drain Pump

  1. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply [Power Off Symbol].
  2. Remove the filter system.
  3. Drain any remaining water.
  4. Using a spoon, lift the pump cover by gripping the ribbing.
  5. Lift the pump cover obliquely inwards and remove it.
  6. Remove food residue and foreign objects from the impeller area.
  7. Insert the pump cover and press it down. The pump cover will click into place [Diagram: Pump cover reassembly].
  8. Reassemble the filter system.

E:32-00 displayed or water supply indicator light is on.
  • Inlet hose is kinked. ➡️ Lay the inlet hose without kinks.
  • Water tap is closed. ➡️ Open the water tap.
  • Water tap is blocked or calcified. ➡️ Open the water tap. Water flow must be at least 10 l/min when the tap is open.
  • Inlet filters in the hose or AquaStop are blocked.
  • 1. Switch off the appliance.
  • 2. Unplug the appliance.
  • 3. Close the water tap.
  • 4. Unscrew the water connection.
  • 5. Remove the filter from the inlet hose.
  • 6. Clean the filter.
  • 7. Insert the filter into the inlet hose.
  • 8. Reconnect the water connection.
  • 9. Check the water connection for leaks.
  • 10. Restore power.
  • 11. Switch on the appliance.
E:61-02 displayed.
  • Drain pump is blocked. ➡️ Clean the drain pump.
  • Drain pump cover is loose. ➡️ Secure the drain pump cover correctly.
E:92-40 displayed.
  • Filters are dirty or blocked. ➡️ Clean the filters.
  • Dishwasher is too full or items are packed too tightly.
  • 1. Load the dishwasher with sufficient space between items.
  • Water jets must reach all surfaces.
  • 2. Avoid contact points.
  • Spray arms rotation is blocked. ➡️ Load the dishwasher so that the spray arms can rotate freely.
  • Spray arm nozzles are blocked. ➡️ Clean the spray arms.
  • Filters are dirty. ➡️ Clean the filters.
  • Filters are inserted incorrectly and/or not locked.
  • 1. Insert filters correctly.
  • 2. Lock filters.
  • Program selected is too weak. ➡️ Select a more intensive program.
Removable streaks on glasses, metallic-looking glasses, and cutlery.
  • Rinse aid dosage is set too high. ➡️ Set the rinse aid system to a lower level.
  • Rinse aid has not been added. ➡️ Add rinse aid.
Rust marks on cutlery.
  • Cutlery is not sufficiently rust-resistant. Knife blades are often affected more. ➡️ Use rust-resistant cutlery.
  • Cutlery rusts even when washed with rusting items. ➡️ Do not wash rusting parts together.
Detergent residue in the detergent compartment or tablet tray.
  • Spray arms were blocked by dishes, and detergent was not rinsed out. ➡️ Ensure spray arms are not blocked and can rotate freely.
All LEDs are lit or flashing, or the program does not continue.
  • The electronic system has detected an error. ➡️ Press the main switch button for approx. 4 seconds. The appliance will reset and restart.
