Operating Environment

Important Safety Instructions -- Read Before Using!

Basic Shredding Operation

  1. Plug in the shredder and set the disconnect power switch to the ON (?) position.
  2. Press the ON (?) button on the control panel to activate the shredder.
  3. Feed paper or cards straight into the paper entry and release.
  4. For CDs/cards: Hold by the edge and feed into the center of the entry, then release.
  5. When finished shredding, set the control panel to OFF (?).
  6. The shredder will automatically enter sleep mode after 2 minutes of inactivity.

Advanced Product Features

Jam Proof System

Eliminates paper jams and powers through tough jobs.

Jam Proof System Operation

  1. Advanced Jam Prevention: The shredder electronically measures paper thickness.
    • RED Indicator: Too many sheets have been inserted.
    • YELLOW Indicator: Productivity is optimized.
    • GREEN Indicator: More sheets can be added.
  2. If a misfeed occurs: All indicators will light up, and the shredder will pause for 3-6 seconds. Remove several sheets until the indicator is below the red zone. Wait for flashing to stop; regular shredding will resume.
  3. If the [remove-paper-icon] indicator illuminates after paper has been reversed, press the reverse button (◀️) and remove the paper. Otherwise, regular shredding will resume automatically.

SafeSense® Technology

Stops shredding immediately when hands touch the paper entry.

SafeSense® Technology Operation

  1. Turn the shredder ON (?) to activate SafeSense®.
  2. Touch the designated test area. The SafeSense® indicator (?) should illuminate, confirming it is active and working properly.
  3. If a hand is held on the SafeSense® area for more than 3 seconds, the shredder will automatically shut off.

Energy Savings System

Optimal energy efficiency 100% of the time – in use and out of use. Saves energy in four ways: energy-efficient electronics, jam prevention, standby mode, and sleep mode.

Sleep Mode: Shuts down the shredder after 2 minutes of inactivity.

To exit sleep mode: Touch the control panel or insert paper.

Product Maintenance

Cleaning Auto-Start Infrared Sensors

Paper detection sensors are designed for maintenance-free operation. However, on rare occasions, they may become blocked by paper dust, causing the motor to run even when no paper is present. (Note: two paper detection sensors are located in the center of the paper entry).

To Clean the Sensors:

  1. Turn off and unplug the shredder.
  2. Locate the auto-start infrared sensor(s) in the center of the paper entry.
  3. Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol.
  4. Using the cotton swab, gently wipe away any contamination from the paper sensors.

Oiling Shredder

All cross-cut shredders require oil for peak performance. If not oiled, a machine may experience diminished sheet capacity, intrusive noise when shredding, and could ultimately stop running. To avoid these problems, it is recommended to oil your shredder each time you empty the waste bin.

Follow Oiling Procedure Below and Repeat Twice:

  1. Apply oil across the paper entry.
  2. Press and hold the forward button (➡️) for 2-3 seconds.

Note: Only use a non-aerosol vegetable oil in a long nozzle container, such as Fellowes 35250.
