Lithonia Lighting BLT4R: 1'x4' Volumetric Recessed LED Relight Troffer
Product Overview
The Lithonia Lighting BLT4R is designed as a high-performance LED relight solution for existing 1'x4' fluorescent troffers. It offers a seamless retrofit, bypassing old fluorescent components for reliable, long-lasting illumination and compatibility with modern networked controls. It is suitable for T-grid mounted recessed installations and is UL rated for air-handling troffer housings.
Note: Certain airborne contaminants may affect acrylic integrity. Refer to the Acrylic Environmental Compatibility table for suitable uses.
Construction
Features universal end brackets made of painted steel, designed for secure fit in most 1'x4' lensed or parabolic troffers. The unitized doorframe reflector and electrical chassis require no field assembly. The high-reflectivity matte white powder coating and diffuser trim rings provide a finished appearance and mounting points for integral controls and sensors. All electrical and mechanical components are accessible from below the ceiling plane.
Optics
Provides volumetric illumination by creating an optimal mix of light for walls, partitions, and work surfaces, resulting in a balanced luminous environment. High-performance extruded acrylic diffusers conceal LEDs and deliver light in a volumetric distribution. Available in four diffuser designs: curved and square with linear prisms, or smooth frosted finish.
Electrical
Utilizes long-life LEDs and high-efficiency drivers for superior illumination quality and extended service life. Offers >80% LED lumen maintenance at 60,000 hours (L80) and calculated L70 lumen maintenance >150,000 hours. Color variation is within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse (3SDCM).
Base BLTR (non-configurable): Generic 0-10 volt dimming driver, dims to 10%.
Configurable BLTR: Provides >135 LPW across a range of lumen outputs, CCTs, and driver options. eldoLED driver options offer choice of dimming range, control, flicker-free operation, low-current inrush, 89% efficiency, and low EMI.
Optional Field Adjustable Output (FAOE, FAO) devices allow for mechanical adjustment of high-end lumens.
Step-level dimming option allows switching to 50% power for energy code compliance while maintaining fixture appearance.
Integrated Sensors & Controls
Individual Control
SensorSwitch MSD7ADCX (PIR) or MSDPDT7ADCX (PIR/Microphonics Dual Tech): Integrated occupancy sensor and automatic dimming photocell. Powers off the luminaire when the space is unoccupied or has sufficient ambient light. (See page 4 for details).
nLight Wired Networking
nLight-enabled sensors communicate over an nLight network using CAT-5 cabling. Creates control zones when linked with other nLight devices and can be managed remotely via SensorView software when connected to a Gateway. (See page 6 for options).
nLight Air Wireless Platform
The rES7 sensor is nLight AIR enabled, communicating wirelessly. Available with automatic dimming photocell and PIR or PDT occupancy sensor. Pairs with other luminaires and wall switches via the CLAIRITY™ mobile app for simple sensor adjustment. (See page 6 for details).
Wireless Single Room Control
SensorSwitch SSAIR or SSAIR VAPIR luminaire-embedded occupancy and ambient light sensor allows the luminaire to power off when the space is unoccupied or has sufficient ambient light. (See page 4 for details).
Installation
After removing existing fluorescent components, universal end brackets are secured with TEKS™ screws. The integrated driver and light engine door assembly hinges to the brackets for plug-in wiring. The doorframe assembly closes and cam latches secure it. Suitable for damp location installations (sensor versions not available for damp locations).

UL924 Sequence of Operation & BSE Labeling
UL924 Sequence of Operation: EM devices maintain high-end trim and ignore wireless commands unless a normal-power-sensed (NPS) broadcast is received every 8 seconds. CLAIRITY+ app is used to associate EM devices with a normal power sensing device. Specific nLight AIR luminaires support NPS.
BSE Labeling Options: BSE10 and BSE14 options relate to driver load transfer relays and prewire configurations for voltage and emergency circuits.
Enabled with STAR
Emergency Lighting with Self-Testing Automated Reporting (STAR) aids in life safety code compliance. Solutions include Mobile STAR (data logged individually, broadcast to CLAIRITY+ app) or Connected STAR (data logged via STAR Gateway by IOTA®, emailed directly). STAR simplifies compliance by eliminating manual record-keeping.
Life Safety Code NFPA 101 requirements include: Testing for 30 seconds every 30 days, testing for 90 minutes annually, and record keeping for authorities.
Application Guide
BLT4R: Typically used for lensed troffer installations. Includes white end brackets and optional white trim strips for gap closure. Fits Lithonia's Avante non-air fixture.
BLT4R A: Typically used for parabolic installations with black reveals. Features black end brackets to match the housing. Does not interfere with host housing air supply/return.
