Getting Started Guide

Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your Minelab Vanquish metal detector.

The assembly diagram shows the following components:

1. Lower Shaft
2. Control Box
3. Coil
4. Upper Shaft
5. Coil Cable
6. Armrest
7. Batteries (AA x4) ?
8. Handle
9. Locking Collar

Assembly involves connecting these parts. The diagram indicates connection points with arrows and numbers. Specifically:

Attach the coil (3) to the lower shaft (1).
Connect the lower shaft (1) to the upper shaft (4).
Mount the control box (2) onto the upper shaft (4).
Connect the coil cable (5) to the control box (2).
Attach the armrest (6).
Insert four AA batteries (7) into the battery compartment.
Attach the handle (8).
Use the locking collar (9) to secure shaft sections.

Quick Start

Get started quickly with these three steps:

Turn On the detector.
Wait approximately 5 seconds for initialization.
Begin searching.

Control Panel Overview

The control panel features the following buttons and indicators:

1. Backlight: Toggles the display backlight on/off (Model 540).
2. Power: Turns the detector on or off (?).
3. Volume: Adjusts audio volume (?).
4. All Metal Mode: Activates all-metal detection. Press and hold to access Iron Bias (540).
5. Pinpoint: Enters precise target location mode (?).
6. Sensitivity: Adjusts the detector's sensitivity to targets (?).
7. Accept/Reject: Confirms or rejects discrimination settings (✔️ / ❌).
8. Discrimination Pattern: Adjusts the type of targets the detector will ignore.
9. Search Mode: Selects the primary search mode.
10. Bluetooth: Toggles Bluetooth connectivity on/off (Model 540) (?).
11. Target ID Scale: Shows the range of possible target identifications.

Display Overview

The display provides real-time information:

12. Battery Level: Indicates remaining battery power (?).
13. Backlight Indicator: Shows backlight status (Model 540).
14. Bluetooth Indicator: Shows Bluetooth connection status (Model 540) (?).
15. Volume Level: Displays the current audio volume setting.
16. Sensitivity Level: Shows the current sensitivity setting.
17. Iron Bias Indicator: Indicates if Iron Bias is active (Model 540).
18. Target ID: Numeric value representing the likely type of metal detected (?).
19. Depth Indicator: Estimates the depth of the target (⬇️).
20. Work Modes: Icons representing the selected search mode.
21. Discrimination Segments: Visual representation of discrimination settings.
22. Pinpoint Indicator: Shows when the pinpoint mode is active (?).

The Vanquish 440/540 offers several search modes tailored for different environments:

? Relics: Optimized for detecting deeply buried relics in fields and forests.
