Assembly
The following steps guide you through assembling your Minelab Vanquish metal detector:
- Connect the lower shaft to the control box/handle assembly.
- Attach the search coil to the end of the lower shaft using the provided hardware.
- Connect the upper shaft to the lower shaft.
- Adjust the length of the upper shaft to your preferred setting.
- The detector is now assembled.
Refer to diagrams for visual guidance on connecting components and using mounting hardware.
Quick Start
Follow these simple steps to begin detecting:
- Power On: Press the power button.
- Wait: Allow approximately 5 seconds for the detector to initialize.
- Start Detecting: Begin sweeping the coil over the ground.
Search Modes
The Vanquish 440/540 offers several pre-set search modes:
Coin Mode
Ideal for searching for coins in parks or on beaches, designed to ignore common trash items.
Relic Mode
Optimized for finding deep relics in fields and forests.
Jewelry Mode
Designed to locate valuable lost jewelry.
Custom Settings Mode
Allows users to create and save personalized settings for optimal performance and trash rejection.
Controls
Familiarize yourself with the detector's control panel:
- 1. Backlight (540 only): Toggle the screen backlight on/off.
- 2. Power On/Off: Turns the detector on or off.
- 3. Volume Up/Down: Adjusts the audio volume.
- 4. All Metal: Activates a mode that detects all types of metal. (Long press for Iron Bias on 540 model).
- 5. Pinpoint: Activates pinpoint mode for precise target location.
- 6. Sensitivity Up/Down: Adjusts the detector's sensitivity to targets.
- 7. Accept/Reject: Used for discrimination settings.
- 8. Discrimination Pattern: Adjusts which types of metal are ignored.
- 9. Search Mode: Selects the desired search mode.
- 10. Bluetooth (540 only): Toggles Bluetooth connectivity on/off.
- 11. Target ID Guide: Provides information on target identification numbers.
Display Indicators
Understand the information shown on the display:
- 12. Battery Level: Indicates the remaining battery power.
- 13. Backlight Indicator (540 only): Shows if the backlight is active.
- 14. Bluetooth Indicator (540 only): Shows Bluetooth connection status.
- 15. Volume Level: Displays the current audio volume setting.
- 16. Sensitivity Level: Shows the current sensitivity setting.
- 17. Iron Bias Indicator: Indicates the level of iron bias applied.
- 18. Target ID Number: Displays a numerical value representing the likely type of metal detected.
- 19. Depth Measurement: Estimates the depth of the detected target.
- 20. Search Mode Indicator: Shows the currently active search mode.
- 21. Discrimination Segment: Visual representation of discrimination settings.
- 22. Target ID Accuracy Indicator: Shows the confidence level of the Target ID.
