Installation Instructions
WARNING: Prior to installation, please ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of any solvents, dust, grease, or oil. If the door is painted, the paint must be uniformly applied and completely dry. (Beware of quick-drying primers that leave a powdered surface, as this may cause a complete lack of adhesion.)
NOTE: Wood frames that are painted or have other finished surfaces must be non-porous and smooth.
For best application, please test the adhesion on a small doorframe area prior to installation. Adhesive tape sets gradually and is fully set in 24 hours. The strip adheres to most any doorframe surface, but we cannot control the various paints and paint additives that may be used.
- Adhesive must be applied on a clean, dry frame with a room temperature of 50°F and 100°F, with end use temperatures between -30°F and 140°F.
- Cut one piece of gasketing to fit the top width of the frame. Peel off the backing and press it onto the frame inch by inch, without stretching it.
- Cut two pieces of gasketing for the height of the frame and attach as shown for the lock and hinge sides. Peel and press them onto each side inch by inch, again without stretching.
- Open and close the door several times to ensure gasketing is adjusted properly and doesn't interfere with the door self-closing or latching. IMPORTANT: Do not overlap or run strips continuously—cut at corners where head and jambs meet.
