Where to Place Your Outdoor Wall Lights
[Diagram Description: An illustration of a house with an outdoor wall light fixture mounted next to the front door. Dimensions shown include a 14.5" Tall Fixture, 80" Door height, 80" Door width, and 60" height for each fixture.]
Proper placement ensures optimal illumination and functionality.
- Single Light Placement: If installing one light next to an entryway or garage door, position it at 1/3 of the door's height.
- Dual Light Placement: If installing lights on both sides of the door, position each light at 1/4 of the door's height.
- Height Calculation: Measure the door's height from the floor. Divide by 4 for two lights, or by 3 for one light.
- Illumination Height: Lights should be placed 66 inches from the floor or ground to properly illuminate the lock and handle.
- Edge Placement: Position lights 6 inches from the edge of the door.
- Single Light Side: If using only one light, place it on the side of the door closest to the door handle.
Helpful Tip: This product features a dusk-to-dawn sensor. Ensure no objects, such as eaves, obstruct the sensor during installation, as this may cause the light to remain on constantly.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does it feature a dusk-to-dawn sensor?
Yes, this fixture has an intelligent dusk-to-dawn sensor that automatically adjusts to ambient light levels. It turns on below 20 LUX and off above 90 LUX, saving energy and eliminating manual operation.
2. What could be the reason if the lamp does not turn on during installation?
This is likely due to the dusk-to-dawn sensor's deactivation during daylight hours. To test functionality, cover the sensor with your hand or a cloth after turning on the power switch. If the lamp illuminates, it confirms the lamp is working correctly, and the issue is related to the automatic day/night cycle.
3. What if I do not need the dusk-to-dawn functionality?
The fixture includes a convenient rubber cap. Slide this cap over the sensor to disable the dusk-to-dawn feature and enable manual control.
4. What should I do if the glass lampshade I received is cracked or broken?
If your glass lampshade is cracked, broken, or not in perfect condition, please contact customer service immediately. They are dedicated to providing the best possible solution and ensuring your satisfaction.
