Safety Warnings
WARNING: DISCONNECT POWER AT THE MAIN FUSE BOX BEFORE INSTALLATION.
This fixture is intended for installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all local code specifications. If you are not familiar with code requirements, installation by a certified electrician is recommended.
Preparation
Before assembly, remove all parts and part packages from the box. If anything is missing, please contact the retailer from which the product was purchased.
Installation Steps
Step 1: Prepare House Wires
Carefully pull house wires out of the junction box so they are easily accessible during installation.
Step 2: Mount the Bracket
Position the mounting bracket (A) against the junction box so the longer end of the threaded pipe (E) attached to the mounting bracket (A) points outward. Align each slotted hole in the mounting bracket (A) with each small hole in the junction box.
Step 3: Secure the Mounting Bracket
Thread one junction box screw (B) into each slot in the mounting bracket (A) and into the holes in the junction box. Tighten junction box screws (B) to secure the mounting bracket (A) to the junction box. CAUTION: DO NOT pinch wires between the mounting bracket and the wall.
Step 4: Prepare Fixture Wires
Strip 3/4" (approximately 19.05 mm) of insulation from the ends of the fixture wires.
Step 5: Connect Ground Wire
Slightly loosen the ground screw on the mounting bracket (A). Do not completely remove the ground screw. Wrap the house ground wire (copper) around the ground screw, leaving enough ground wire to attach to the fixture ground wire. Twist the end of the fixture ground wire and the end of the house ground wire together. Twist a wire connector (C) onto the ends of the wires. Completely tighten the wire connector (C).
Ground Wire Connection Chart: Connect the supply (house) ground copper wire to: Bare Copper Wire, Bare Silver Wire, or Green Insulated Wire.
Diagram Description: A diagram shows the house ground wire (copper) wrapped around the ground screw on the mounting bracket (A). The fixture ground wire is twisted together with the house ground wire and secured with a wire connector (C).
Step 6: Connect Lead and Neutral Wires
Twist the end of the house lead wire (black) and the end of the fixture lead wire together. Twist a wire connector (C) onto the ends of the wires. Completely tighten the wire connector (C).
Twist the end of the house neutral wire (white) and the end of the fixture neutral wire together. Twist a wire connector (C) onto the ends of the wires. Completely tighten the wire connector (C).
Wire Connection Chart:
Connect Black Lead Supply (House) Wire to: Connect White Neutral Supply (House) Wire to: Black Wire, *Parallel Cord (Round and Smooth), wire with no printed words on insulation, or Insulated Wire (other than green) with Copper Conductor. White Wire, *Parallel Cord (Square and Ridged), wire with printed words on insulation, or Insulated Wire (other than green) with Silver Conductor. *Note on Parallel Wire (SPT 1 & SPT 2): The lead wire is round/smooth. The neutral wire is square/ridged.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows the wire connections: Fixture Lead Wire, Fixture Ground Wire, and Fixture Neutral Wire are shown connecting to corresponding House Wires (black, copper, white) using wire connectors (C).
Step 7: Secure Wire Connections
Wrap electrical tape (not included) around the wire connectors (C) and wires. Ensure wires are securely fastened into the wire connectors.
Step 8: Insert Wires into Junction Box
Carefully push all wires and wire connectors into the junction box.
Step 9: Attach Backplate
Place the backplate (D) over the mounting bracket (A). Pass the hole in the center of the backplate (D) over the end of the threaded pipe (E) on the mounting bracket (A). CAUTION: Do not pinch wires between the backplate and the wall.
Step 10: Secure Fixture
Screw the threaded cap (F) onto the end of the threaded pipe (E). Tighten the threaded cap (F) to secure the fixture to the wall.
Step 11: Attach Shade
Lower the shade (K) down over the socket.
Step 12: Install Bulb
Screw the recommended bulb (E26 Edison bulb type, not included) into the socket. Verify the correct bulb wattage marked on the socket of the fixture. WARNING: DO NOT exceed the maximum bulb wattage.
