Elk Home 89727/8 Chandelier Installation Guide
Important Warnings
⚠️ WARNING: DISCONNECT POWER AT THE MAIN FUSE BOX BEFORE INSTALLATION.
This fixture is intended for installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all local code specifications. If you are not familiar with code requirements, installation by a certified electrician is recommended.
Before Assembly
Before assembly, remove all parts and part packages from the box. If anything is missing, please contact the retailer from which the product was purchased.
Installation Instructions
- Step 1: Carefully pull house wires out of the junction box so they are easily accessible during installation.
- Step 2: Position mounting bracket (A) so threaded ends of attached fixture mounting screws (E) are facing down towards the floor.
- Step 3: Carefully pull house wires through the center hole in mounting bracket (A). Align small holes in mounting bracket (A) with holes in the junction box.
- Step 4: Thread each junction box screw (B) into holes in mounting bracket (A) and into holes in the junction box. Tighten junction box screws (B) to secure mounting bracket (A) to the junction box. ⚠️ CAUTION: Make sure house wires are pulled completely through the hole in mounting bracket. DO NOT pinch wires between mounting bracket and ceiling.
- Step 5: Rotate arms until arms are evenly spaced apart.
- Step 6: Carefully push fixture wires up through stem (M). Pull fixture wires out of the top of stem (M). Pull fixture wires taut. Screw the bottom of stem (M) onto the top of the fixture body (O). DO NOT pinch fixture wires between the fixture body and stem.
- Step 7: Push fixture wires through the bottom of loop (L). Pull fixture wires taut. Thread loop (L) onto the top of stem (M).
- Step 8: Thread a second stem (M) into the second coupling on top of the fixture body (O). Thread a second loop (L) onto the top of the second stem (M).
- Step 9: Attach one locking link (G) to each loop (L) on top of each stem (M).
- Step 10: Determine the desired hanging height of the fixture. Cut chain (H) to length to achieve the desired height. Ensure sections of chain (H) are the same length.
- Step 11: Slip the last chain link at the end of each chain (H) onto the locking link (G) on each loop (L) on top of each stem (M).
- Step 12: Attach one locking link (G) onto the end of each section of chain (H).
- Step 13: Weave fixture wires through chain links, skipping every other chain link.
- Step 14: Push fixture wires up through the loop on canopy (D). Pull fixture wires up through canopy (D).
- Step 15: Attach one locking link (G) onto the last chain link on each section of chain (H) and then to each loop on canopy (D).
- Step 16: Strip 3/4" (approx. 19.05 mm) of insulation from the ends of fixture wires.
- Step 17: Slightly loosen the ground screw on mounting bracket (A). Do not completely remove the ground screw. Wrap the house ground wire (copper) around the ground screw, leaving enough ground wire to attach to the fixture ground wire. Twist the end of the fixture ground wire and the end of the house ground wire together. Twist wire nut (C) onto the ends of the wires. Completely tighten wire nut (C).
- Step 18: Twist the end of the house lead wire (black) and the end of the fixture lead wire together. Twist wire nut (C) onto the ends of the wires. Completely tighten wire nut (C). Twist the end of the house neutral wire (white) and the end of the fixture neutral wire together. Twist wire nut (C) onto the ends of the wires. Completely tighten wire nut (C).
- Step 19: Wrap electrical tape (not included) around wire nuts (C) and wires. Ensure wires are securely fastened into wire nuts.
- Step 20: Carefully push all wires and wire nuts into the junction box.
- Step 21: Carefully raise the fixture up to the ceiling. Place the canopy (D) of the fixture over the mounting bracket (A). Pass holes in canopy (D) over the ends of the fixture mounting screws (E).
- Step 22: Screw one threaded cap (F) onto the end of each fixture mounting screw (E). Tighten threaded caps (F) to secure the fixture to the ceiling. DO NOT over tighten.
- Step 23: Screw recommended bulbs (E12 candelabra bulb type, not included) into sockets. Verify correct bulb wattage marked on the socket of the fixture. ⚠️ WARNING: DO NOT exceed maximum bulb wattage.
