DOD FX25B FX Envelope Filter
User Manual and Features Guide
What the FX25B Does
The FX25B is an updated version of the classic auto-wah/envelope filter. It features an added blend knob, making it versatile for both guitar and bass. The FX25B excels at producing heavily enveloped funky chords and leads with a subtle vowel-like quality, designed to enhance your groove.
Connecting the FX25B
Connect your guitar or bass to the input jack of the FX25B. Connect the output of the FX25B to your amplifier or the input of another effects device. To power the unit without a 9-volt battery, attach the DOD PS200R AC adapter to the AC adapter jack.
Features
- LED indicator: Shows effect and battery status.
- Active switching: Provides noiseless operation.
- Easy access battery compartment: For quick battery changes.
- Adapter jack: For AC power operation.
- Rugged die-cast metal case: Ensures durability.
- Three-year limited warranty: Standard warranty coverage.
- Rubber non-skid bottom: Prevents the pedal from sliding.
Controls
- BLEND: Adjusts the mix between the effected signal and the original signal. Turning counter-clockwise favors the original signal, while turning clockwise favors the effected signal.
- SENSITIVITY: Determines the threshold at which the FX25B's wah effect responds to your playing attack. Higher sensitivity means a smaller signal can trigger the effect, requiring less playing force.
- RANGE: Controls the sweep range of the envelope filter. Turning counter-clockwise emphasizes lower frequencies in the sweep, while turning clockwise emphasizes higher frequencies.
- FOOTSWITCH: Engages or bypasses the effect in the signal path.
- LED INDICATOR: Illuminates when the effect is active and is off when the effect is bypassed.
- JACKS: Includes Input, Output, and AC Adapter jacks. Use only the DOD PS200R power supply for AC operation.
Operation of the FX25B
The FX25B can be used in front of an amplifier or within an effects loop. The order of effects is crucial for optimal sound. A recommended signal chain order is:
- Compression effects (e.g., DOD FX84)
- Wah/Volume and Envelope Filters (e.g., DOD FX17, FX25)
- Distortion effects (e.g., DOD FX102, FX69B)
- EQs (e.g., DOD FX 40B)
- Modulation effects (Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Vibrato - e.g., DOD FX 64, FX75C, FX25B, FX22)
- Delay and Reverb effects (e.g., DOD DFX98, FX96)
To set up a sound with the FX25B, begin by setting the BLEND control to 12 o'clock. Adjust the SENSITIVITY between 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock. Set the RANGE to 1 o'clock, then play to experiment.
Using the FX25B may inspire a desire for expressive fashion and a groovy attitude, reminiscent of classic eras.
