4. Base Operating Modes
4.1 Gateway / Router Mode - Default Operating Mode
In this mode:
- A local router assigns a corporate IP address to the Base Station's Ethernet port.
- The Base Station's internal DHCP server assigns IP addresses to DX8000 devices.
- The DX8000 Base and connected devices operate on a private network segment (e.g., 192.168.47.X).
- Only the Base Station's IP address is visible and addressable by the external network.
- Network Address Translation (NAT) masks the private IP addresses of the devices from the network.
4.2 Bridge Mode - (Also known as Access Point Mode)
In this mode:
- A router assigns corporate IP network addresses to both the base station and DX8000 devices.
- The Base Station and devices are directly connected to the local router and reside on the same network segment.
- The Base Station's DHCP server is disabled, and NAT is not used.
- All device IP and MAC addresses are visible and addressable by the network.
4.3 WiFi Repeater Mode
This mode is designed to extend wireless coverage by connecting two base stations via Wi-Fi.
- Example: If a DX8000 is too far to connect to Base A, place Base B between Base A and the DX8000.
- Configure Base B to repeat Base A's signal.
- The DX8000 can then connect to the internet through Base B.
- This mode does not operate with a Mesh network.
5. Mount Base to Counter (Optional)
Installation procedure:
- Position the space block on the table and install screws.
- Mount the Base fixing structure onto the space block using three screws.
- Place the base onto the structure and lock it into position.
- Fasten the Base mounting structure to the base with three screws.
- Replace the battery cover of the DX8000.
- Place the DX8000 onto the base to lock it.
NOTE: Ensure fasteners are appropriate for the counter material.
Appendix 1 - Frequently Asked Questions
- Q1: The base fails to connect to the DX8000.
Issue: DX8000 WLAN is not enabled.
Solution: Enable WLAN via the drop-down box on the DX8000. - Q2: Cannot access the Base web interface.
Issue: Incorrect password entered for the DX8000 base.
Solution: Enter the correct password or restore factory settings to revert to the default password. - Q3: The base is not connected to the DX8000, but the green indicator light flashes.
Issue: The devices are too far apart for a stable connection.
Solution: Place the devices in closer proximity. - Q4: Mobile device cannot connect to the 5GHz SSID, but the 2.4 GHz one functions correctly.
Issue: Mobile device does not display the 5GHz SSID.
Solution: Verify that the mobile device supports 5GHz Wi-Fi networks. - Q5: The base is not recognized when connected to a PC/ECR via the USB TYPE-B port.
Cause: A CH340 driver needs to be installed on the PC/ECR.
Solution: For Windows, drivers are supported for versions 11/10/8.1/8/7/VISTA/XP/2000/98. Windows 11/10 with an internet connection can often install the driver automatically. Drivers are also available for macOS, Android, and various Linux versions. Manual installation may be required for some Linux versions or older systems. Consult after-sales personnel for details.
