Maintenance
Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and reliable operation of your HMF safe.
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the safe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the paint finish.
- Key Care: Keep the keys clean and dry. Do not force the key if it feels stiff; a small amount of graphite lubricant can be applied to the key or directly into the keyhole if necessary.
- Lock Mechanism: Periodically check the locking bolts for smooth operation. Ensure no debris is obstructing their movement.
- Mounting: If the safe is mounted, periodically check the tightness of the mounting screws to ensure it remains securely fastened.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Key is difficult to turn or stuck. | Dust or debris in the keyhole; lack of lubrication; bent key. | Try gently wiggling the key. Apply a small amount of graphite lubricant to the key or keyhole. Do not force the key. If the key is bent, use the spare key. |
| Door does not close properly. | Items inside obstructing the door or locking bolts; safe not level. | Rearrange contents inside the safe. Ensure the safe is placed on a flat, level surface or is securely mounted. |
| Safe does not open after turning the key. | Locking bolts are not fully retracted; mechanism issue. | Ensure the key is turned fully clockwise. If the issue persists, contact customer support. |
