How to flash the Reference Design via Bootloader

Step 1

Install Renesas Flash Programmer V3.09 or later: https://www.renesas.com/us/en/software-tool/renesas-flash-programmer-programming-gui#download

Step 2

Put Jumper on Pin 7 and Pin 9 of the Debug Interface.MIKRO-Flash-the-Reference-Design-via-Bootloader-fig-1

Step 3

Connect the Device to the PC. MIKRO-Flash-the-Reference-Design-via-Bootloader-fig-2

Step 4

Open Renesas Flash Programmer:

  1. Open new Project: File >> New ProjectMIKRO-Flash-the-Reference-Design-via-Bootloader-fig-3
  2. Fill out the tabs:
    • Microcontroller: RA
    • Project Name: create your project name
    • Project Folder: your project folder path
    • Communication Tool: COM Port >> Tool Details: your COM Port number
  3. Connect
  4. Browse and select the wanted .srec file and Click “Start”
    The .srec file is available at https://github.com/Broadcom/AFBR-S50-API/releases
  5. If flashing was successful, “operation completed” is displaying at the console. (as illustrated in the picture)MIKRO-Flash-the-Reference-Design-via-Bootloader-fig-4

Step 5

Jumper needs to be removed or set to its initial position again (not flashing position) otherwise the board will not be functional in normal operation.
