Quick Start Programming Guide

IXG Support Tool version 5.0.1.0

This document provides basic programming settings for an IXG Series system using the IXG Support Tool. For complete instructions, refer to the IXG Operation Manual or IXG Support Tool Setting Manual available at www.aiphone.com/IXG.

General Overview

IXG Support Tool

The IXG Support Tool is designed for batch configuration of all stations simultaneously by finding them on the network via MAC address. The IXG Series operates on a managed network. For initial programming, it's recommended to place stations and the programming PC on the same unmanaged network for broadcast discovery. Once stations are associated, they can be moved to their final locations.

The NIC used by IXG Support Tool can be manually selected via File > IXG Support Tool Settings > Select Nic.

Top Menu

This menu provides quick access to support and integration settings. Use Alt+() shortcuts.

Side Menu

This accordion menu organizes most station settings. Use '+' or '-' to expand/minimize categories.

Update

The 'Update' button (sometimes 'Save') saves settings within the Support Tool but does not upload them to the stations. Uploading is covered later in the guide.

Hand Icon

The Hand Icon ?️ indicates where to click to select or save a setting.

Launching Support Tool

Two login options exist: Administrator and Property Manager. This guide focuses on Administrator mode. The default credentials are 'admin'/'admin'. A prompt to change the password appears upon first login.

Note: Admin ID and Password can be changed later via File > Account Management.

Creating a New System

Getting Started

The 'Create a New System' screen appears on first launch. Alternatively, navigate to File > Create New System.

Important: All IDs and passwords should be securely recorded. Recovery may be difficult or impossible.

Enter required configuration information, including Site, Installer, and Property Management Company details, which are essential for the IXG Mobile app. Click 'Finish' to proceed.

Site Settings

Expand 'Site Settings' from the side menu. Use submenus like 'Site Information' and 'Building Information' to configure the system.

Site Information

Site, Installer, and End User details entered during system creation can be edited here.

Building Information

Name buildings where units and stations reside. Check 'Enable' to add buildings, typically for multi-building systems.

Note: Additional buildings can only be enabled if 'Multiple Buildings' was selected during system creation.

Site Settings (continued)

Units / Stations - Unit Types

Units and their stations are added here. The IXG Series supports six unit types: Entrance, Residential, Commercial, Guard, Inside Area, and Outside Area, each with specific features and station capacities.

Entrance Unit

Supports up to ten IXG-DM7-* entrance stations. These can call guard, commercial, residential, and inside area units, and grant entry via keypad or card reader. Diagram: Illustrates an Entrance Unit with multiple door stations.

Residential Unit

Supports up to eight IXG-2C7 tenant stations, IX-RS-* handset sub stations, or a combination, plus up to eight IXG mobile apps and a telephone number. Tenant stations communicate internally, receive calls, and monitor entrance stations. Private door stations call only within their unit. Commercial Unit

Supports up to eight IX-MV7-* master stations, IX-SOFT PC master stations, IX-RS-* handset sub stations, one VoIP extension, or a combination, plus eight IXG mobile apps and a telephone number. Master and PC stations offer advanced functions like paging and call transfer. Stations communicate across unit types. Private door stations call only within their unit. Guard Unit

Supports up to eight IXG-MK guard stations, IX-RS-* handset sub stations, one VoIP extension, or a combination, plus up to eight IXG Apps and a telephone number. Guard stations offer advanced functions like paging and call transfer. Private door stations call only within their unit. Inside Area Unit

Supports up to eight IX-MV7-* master stations, IXG-MK guard stations, IX-SOFT PC master stations, IX-RS-* handset sub stations, or a combination, plus two IX Series door stations. Master, guard, and PC stations offer advanced functions. Inside area master stations communicate with all unit types. Private door stations call only within their unit. Mobile apps are not supported in inside area units. Diagram: Illustrates an Inside Area Unit with master stations and door stations.

Outside Area Unit

Supports up to ten door or emergency stations that can call residential, guard, commercial, and inside area units.

Units/Stations - Adding Units

Units and stations are added here. In 'Display Settings', select the number of Master/Tenant Stations and Entrance/Door Stations per unit, then click 'Apply'. This setting applies to all units.

Select the 'Building Number', 'Unit Number', and then 'Unit Type' for each unit.

After adding units, enter a 'Unit Name' for each. 'First Name' and 'Last Name' can be added for Residential units. Click 'Update' to save settings.

Tip: When adding multiple units of the same type, complete one entry and press Enter to auto-populate subsequent fields.

Configure stations for each unit, including the maximum number of Mobile Apps. Click 'Update' after adding all units and stations.

In 'Default Call Settings', click 'Group' for default paging groups and 'Called Stations (Door/Sub Stations)' for default calling assignments for door stations.

Note: 'Called Stations (Door/Sub Stations)' automatically sets up assignments. Manual configuration or customization requires referring to the 'Call Partitioning' section (page 14).

Sample Unit Layouts

Single Office (1 Door Station, 1 Master Station, 8 Mobile Apps)

All components can be placed within a single commercial unit.

Single Office (3 Door Stations, 1 Master Station, 8 Mobile Apps)

For multiple doors, place the master station and mobile apps in a commercial unit, and the three door stations in an outside area unit. Station partitioning (page 14) is needed for calling configuration.

Multi-Tenant (1 Entrance Station, 4 Tenants, 1 Tenant Station and 4 Mobile Apps per Tenant)

For apartment buildings, use an Entrance Unit for the IXG-DM7-HID* entrance station and separate Residential Units for each apartment's master station and mobile apps.

Multi-Tenant, App Only (2 Entrance Stations, 4 Tenants, 8 Mobile Apps per Tenant)

For apartments where tenants only use mobile apps, use IXG-DM7-HID* entrance stations in an Entrance Unit and separate Residential Units for each apartment's mobile apps.

Station Information

Identification

Navigate to Station Information > Identification to customize Station Number and Name. Custom names aid user distinction, especially for entrance/door stations. Click 'Update' when done.

ID / Password (Optional)

Navigate to Station Information > ID / Password to edit Admin ID/Password (not typically recommended) or set ONVIF/RTSP IDs for NVR integration.

Gateway Settings

If Mobile Apps are used, a Gateway (IXGW-(T)GW) must be added.

Gateway Registration

Go to Gateway Settings > Gateway Registration. Select 'Enable', optionally edit 'Station Name', and review settings. Up to 99 Gateways can be configured. Click 'Update'.

Gateway Selection

Navigate to Gateway Settings > Gateway Selection. Choose a primary gateway for calling IXG mobile apps. An optional secondary gateway can be designated for failover. Click 'Update'.

Note: Gateway Selection requires network information for the gateway and stations.

Network Settings

IP Address

Navigate to Network Settings > IP Address. Manually assign IP addresses or use the screen to enter a range for automatic assignment.

Tip: Stations on managed networks may not be found without network configuration for broadcast search. Moving stations to a local switch can simplify initial programming.

Additional network settings like Default Gateway and Primary/Secondary DNS Servers can be configured for the gateway adaptor and other stations. Consult your Network Administrator. Click 'Update' when complete.

NTP

Navigate to Network Settings > NTP. Enable and configure NTP settings for stations. The IXGW-GW Gateway Adaptor has a default Aiphone NTP server, but using a local NTP server is recommended. Click 'Update'.

Association Settings

Station Settings List and Station List

From the top menu, select Connection > Association Settings. Associate stations from the 'Station Settings List' with those found on the network ('Station List'). Verify IP and subnet mask, then click 'Apply'. This assigns Station Name and IP Address, followed by a station reboot.

Troubleshooting: If Station Search fails, check File > IXG Support Tool Settings > Select NIC. Antivirus or firewall software might also interfere.

Associated Station List

Confirm successful associations in the 'Associated Station List', which shows IP and MAC addresses. Use 'Remove Association' if incorrect information was linked.

Upload Settings

After association, upload setting files to each station. Select Connection > Upload Settings. Check the desired stations or click 'Select All'. Click 'Settings' to upload station settings. 'Sounds', 'Images', or 'Schedules' can also be uploaded.

Note: If stations fail, they might still be booting. Ensure the programming PC is on the same subnet as the stations.

Exporting System Configuration

After upload, go to File > Export System Configuration to save a backup or transfer settings to a new PC. Compress the file if emailing.

Mobile App Integration

For IXG Mobile Apps, create an administrative account. If managing multiple sites, use existing IXG cloud server credentials for 'Upload Settings to IXG Cloud Server'.

Create a New Administrator Account

Select App Integration > Create a New Administrator ID. Enter ID, Password, and Email. Click 'Create'. A verification code will be sent to the email. Activate it via App Integration > Activate.

Upload Settings to IXG Cloud Server

Upload system settings to the IXG Cloud Server via App Integration > Upload Settings to IXG Cloud Server.

Downloading the IXG Mobile App

Download the 'Aiphone IXG' app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. After installation and agreeing to the privacy policy, scan a QR code for registration.

Upload App Registration QR Code to IXG-2C7 Tenant Station

For Residential Units, generate a QR code for app registration via App Integration > Upload QR Code to the station. Access the QR code on the IXG-2C7 via its Settings icon > App Registration.

Export App Registration QR Code as a PDF for Non-Residential Units

For non-residential units, generate QR codes via App Integration > Export QR Code for App Registration. Select desired units and click 'Export QR Code for App Registration'.

Syncing the IXGW-(T)GW with the IXG Cloud Server

After cloud upload, the IXGW-(T)GW Gateway status LED should turn solid green. If it flashes orange for over 5 minutes, manually reboot by disconnecting and reconnecting PoE.

Troubleshooting Sync Issues: Ensure both PC and Gateway have internet access. Check network firewall settings and confirm Default Gateway/DNS settings are correct.

Property Manager Account Creation

For residential applications, create a Property Manager Account via App Integration > Site List/Property Manager Account Settings to grant access to the Property Manager View.

Creating the Property Manager Account

Log into the IXG Cloud Server Account using credentials from page 10. Select the site and click 'OK'. On the next screen, create a new Property Manager ID and a unique email address (different from the cloud account email). Click 'Create/Add' to send a temporary password.

Property Management Settings

Access the Property Manager View via View > Property Manager Settings. Log in as Property Manager using the created ID and temporary password. You will be prompted to change the password.

Advanced Settings

Access optional features by changing the top menu option from 'Basic' to 'Advanced'.

Entrance Station Settings

Customize layout, background image, access codes, and other IXG-DM7-* features. Click 'Update' to save changes.

Display

Configure unit search and call methods for the entrance station home screen. Options include 'Call by Unit Number', 'Call by List', and 'Search by Name'. The 'Building Selection Button' allows calling units in other buildings.

Language selection can be enabled for visitor language options.

Welcome Screen

Enable/disable the welcome screen and add custom images (480x800, .png format).

Thumbnail Image

Register up to 500 custom thumbnail images (80x60, .png format) for lists and screens.

Direct Call List

Create individual call buttons for each Unit (up to 500 Units).

Call Directory

Organize units into directories and sub-directories (up to 500 entries). Cannot be used with Direct Call List.

Access Codes

Create access codes (up to 9,999) for building entry at the entrance station. Select Building Number/Station Number, click 'Apply'. Set code 'Length', then 'Add Access Code' or manually add codes. Codes can be entered after pressing 'A' (e.g., A9999).

Upload Settings to Stations

Upload all setting changes to stations via Connection > Upload Settings (see page 10).

Station Partitioning

Configure which stations can communicate with each other. Stations in different units are not automatically linked.

System Information - Station List

To configure address books, expand System Information > Station List. Place check marks in the table to add stations to each other's address books. The door release button can be enabled here. A check mark typically shows the door release button.

Note: For mobile apps interacting with IXG-DM7 stations using both relays, set 'display 2' to show both door release sliders on the mobile app.

Call Settings - Called Stations (Door/Sub Stations)

Navigate to Call Settings > Called Stations (Door/Sub Stations). Configure which stations a door will call by finding the intersection of the calling door station and master station in the table. Add 'U' to the cell to add to the call list; remove 'U' to prevent calling.

Mobile apps can only be set to ring one unit of mobile apps per group. Select desired mobile app units and click 'OK'.

Upload Settings to Stations

Upload all setting changes to stations via Connection > Upload Settings (see page 10).

Additional Settings

Simple features can be adjusted, enabled, or disabled. Always click 'Update' to save changes in Support Tool and 'Upload Settings' to stations.

Adjusting Audio Volumes

Adjust inbound/outbound audio volumes via Station Settings > Volume.

Adjusting Ring Tones

IX-MV7 master stations can set custom ringtones for incoming calls. Navigate to Call Settings > Incoming Calls. Select the desired station and call pattern.

Entrance and Door Station Release Timer

Adjust the door release relay output timer via Option Input / Relay Output Settings > Relay Output. Default is 400msec; ranges include 200-2000msec or 3-600sec.

Entrance and Door Station Call Timeout and Ringback Tone

Adjust call timeout duration (default 60 sec) and select ringback tones via Call Settings > Call Origination.

Entrance and Door Station Communication Start Tone

Enable a 'Communication Start Tone' via Station Settings > Communication.

Disable Entrance and Door Station Monitoring

Prevent monitoring via Station Settings > Monitoring.

Entrance Station Backlight Adjustment

Adjust LCD backlight via Station Settings > Communication.

Station Recording

Stations with microSD card slots can record audio/video via Function Settings > Recording.

IXW-MA(A) Programming

IXG and IX Series Stations use SIF signaling to trigger outputs on IXW-MA(A) Multi-Purpose Adaptors for door release or external signaling.

Adding IXW-MA(A) to a System

Navigate to Site Settings > I/O Adaptor Registration. Check 'Enable' for adaptors. Click 'Update'.

Configure IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway via Network Settings > IP Address. Click 'Update'.

Configuring Stations for SIF Signaling

Navigate to Function Settings > SIF. Set SIF Functionality to 'Enable'. Configure SIF Settings: Program Type (0100), IXW-MA(A) IP address, Destination Port (65014), SSL (Enabled), Connection (Socket).

Scroll to 'Transmission Trigger' and check 'Change Contact' for stations signaling the IXW-MA(A). Click 'Update'.

Configuring Stations for SIF Signaling

Navigate to Option Input / Relay Output Settings > Relay Output. Set the 'Function' to 'Contact Change SIF Event' for each output, assigning it to a single station.

In the 'Contact Change SIF Event' column, click 'Select Station', choose the signaling station, click 'OK', then 'Update'.

Repeat for each output. Upload settings to all stations (page 10).

Updating Station Firmware

IXG Support Tool can update firmware for IXG and IX Series stations. Updates improve security and features.

Checking Firmware and Support Tool Versions

Check versions via Connection(S) > Station Search. IXG Series stations require v3.0+, most IX Series v7.2+, and IXW-MA(A) v9.25+.

Check IXG Support Tool version via Help > About. It should be v5.0.1.0 or higher.

Download the latest versions from: IXG Support Tool and IX and IXG Firmware Updates.

Note: If IX Series stations have firmware below v5.00, use the dedicated IX Firmware Upgrade Tool.

Updating Firmware Through IXG Support Tool

Download required firmware updates (.bin files) and extract them. Navigate to Maintenance > Firmware Update.

Select station types and browse for the appropriate firmware files. Select stations to update and click 'Update'. The process takes several minutes; stations will reboot.

Caution: Do not interrupt firmware updates. For IXG-DM7-* Sub Firmware, the Wiegand connection needs to be connected to an access control system for power.

Security and Communication

The IXG Series supports HTTPS and TLS (v1.2) for encrypted authentication. SSH (SFTP over SSH) is used for setting file uploads. HTTPS is used for IXG Cloud server uploads (whitelist *.ap-northeast-1.amazonaws.com). IEEE 802.1X authentication is supported.

Security and Communication (continued)

Communication

IXGW-GW Cloud Communication uses TLS 1.2. Stations use Unicast by default for outbound calls; Multicast may be used for paging groups over 50 stations.

Addressing

IXG stations use a default static IP address (192.168.1.160), which can be changed or set to DHCP. Batch IP addressing is available.

LTE Connection

The IXGW-TGW Mobile App Gateway can connect to a 4G LTE network via SIM card for primary or backup connection. It supports AT&T® SIM cards.

Additional IXG App Information

A reachable DNS and NTP server is required for the IXGW-(T)GW Mobile App Gateway. Public DNS servers like 8.8.8.8 can be used. The IXG Support Tool has a preset NTP server, but a local server is suggested.

Outbound communication is required for the IXG Mobile app.
