[Important Information] Important safety information regarding the placement of this device is provided on page 11. Please review it before proceeding.
Make sure that the power to all devices connected to the installation is turned off. Unplug the power cords of any computers that have the Keyboard Power On function.
Installation
Setting up the VE803 involves connecting all cables. Refer to the installation diagram and follow these steps:
- Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI output port of your source device and the other end to the HDMI Input port on the VE803T.
- Using the provided USB cable, connect one end (Type-B connector) to the USB port on the VE803T and the other end (Type-A connector) to the source device. Note: The VE803T is powered via this USB port. If power is insufficient, a second power adapter (not supplied) can be used to connect directly to a power outlet.
- Use an HDMI cable to connect your HDMI display to the HDMI Output port on the VE803R.
- Using a USB cable, connect one end (Type-A connector) to the USB port on the VE803R and the other end to your HDMI display (or another device, like a touchscreen). Note: The USB cable for the VE803R is not supplied.
- Use a Cat 5e cable to connect the HDMI port on the VE803T to the HDMI port on the VE803R.
- Use a second Cat 5e cable to connect the USB port on the VE803T to the USB port on the VE803R. Note: A second Cat 5e cable is required for EDID bypass and HDCP authentication.
- Using the supplied power adapter, connect the VE803R to a power outlet.
- Turn on the HDMI source and display devices.
Installation Diagram
The diagram illustrates the connection setup. The VE803T unit is connected to a 'Source' device using an HDMI cable (port 3) and a USB cable (port 4). The VE803R unit is connected to a 'Display' device using an HDMI cable (port 3) and a USB cable (port 4). Both the VE803T and VE803R units are interconnected via two Cat 5e cables: one connecting the HDMI ports (port 5 on both units) for the HDMI signal, and another connecting the USB ports (port 6 on both units) for the USB signal. The VE803R unit is shown connected to a power outlet via its power adapter (port 7).
3. Basic Operation
Overview
This chapter describes the EDID and Equalization (EQ) switch functions to adjust the HDMI display and obtain the best video quality.
EDID Switch
Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) contains a display's basic information and is used to communicate with the video source/system. The VE803 reads EDID information from the display to determine the best video resolution to send to the video source. Use the EDID switch on the VE803T to manually select EDID modes:
- EDID/DDC Bypass: Bypasses EDID/DDC, allowing display information to come directly from the HDMI display to the source device for best resolution determination.
- ATEN Default: Sends ATEN's default EDID setting to the video source for display resolution configuration.
Equalization Adjustment
The 8-segment Equalization (EQ) switch on the VE803R unit adjusts video quality. Use the EQ switch to improve flickering or blinking images:
- 7 = Strongest EQ
- 0 = Weakest EQ
