Installation
Diagrams illustrate rack mounting and device connections, showing how to connect the CE801L and CE801R to a local PC, monitors, USB peripherals, and power.
Rack Mount
- Using the screws from the supplied mounting kits, secure the mounting bracket to the top or bottom of the CE801.
- Using self-prepared M5 Phillips recessed screws, secure the mounting brackets to a preferred location on the rack. The CE801 can be rack mounted with either the front or rear towards the mounting rail.
Connecting the Device
- Connect a USB cable from the CE801L's USB Type-B port to a USB Type-A port on the local computer.
- Connect an HDMI cable from the CE801L's HDMI input port to the local computer's HDMI output.
- Connect one end of a Cat 6 Ethernet cable to the link port on the CE801L and the other end to the link port on the CE801R.
- Connect up to two HDMI-enabled monitors to the HDMI output ports on the CE801L and CE801R via HDMI cables.
- Connect USB peripherals (mouse/keyboard) to their respective USB Type-A ports on the CE801L and CE801R. To switch USB control mode, use the local/remote pushbutton on the CE801L. Refer to the user manual for more details.
- To control a local computer with a serial device, connect the RS-232 serial port on the CE801L to the local computer. Then, connect a hardware/software controller to the RS-232 serial port on the CE801R. The RS-232 serial port supports bi-directional transmission.
- (a) Connect one of the supplied power adapters to a power source and then to the CE801L's power jack.
- (b) Connect the second power adapter to a power source and then to the CE801R's power jack.
USB Control Modes
These modes determine how USB devices are accessed between the local and remote units.
USB Control Mode | Description |
---|---|
Auto | When the local and remote LEDs flash, both units can have USB access, but not simultaneously. The unit without access must wait until the active unit stops inputting USB data (idled for 5 seconds) before the other unit can gain access. |
Local | When the local LED lights up, the unit is in local mode and only the CE801L has USB control. |
Remote | When both remote LEDs light up, the unit is in remote mode and only the CE801R has USB control. |
EDID Modes
These settings control how the extender handles Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) for HDMI output and audio.
EDID Switches | HDMI Out EDID Mode | Audio EDID Mode |
---|---|---|
00 (Default) | Bypasses EDID by the connected remote HDMI display. | Bypasses audio EDID by the connected remote display. |
01 | Bypasses EDID by the connected local HDMI display. | Bypasses audio EDID by the connected local display. |
10 | Fixed to 1080p. | Follows HDMI input audio. |
11 | Fixed to 4K @ 60 Hz. | Follows HDMI input audio. |
