Operation
⚠️ WARNING: Observe the safety instructions in the respective sections for all activities.
17.1 Using the Multifunctional Knob
You operate the microphone mainly with the multifunctional knob (3). This is a rotary control that can be pressed. The functions are:
Action | Light color | Function |
---|---|---|
Short press | Red | Mute |
Long press | Violet | Gain control |
Long press | Blue | Headphone volume |
You can then change the level as well as the headphone volume with the rotary control.
17.2 Using the Polar Pattern Switch
By simply pressing the polar pattern switch (4), you can switch the microphone characteristic between cardioid and omnidirectional.
The omnidirectional characteristic allows you to record sound from all directions. Use this function, for example, when interviewing one or more people or when recording several musical instruments at the same time.
The cardioid pattern focuses the recording on sound coming from in front of the microphone. Sound from the side or rear is not picked up, or only to a limited extent. Use the cardioid pattern for specific recordings of individual sound sources such as people or musical instruments. To do this, point the microphone with the protective mesh grille (7) directly at the sound source.
17.3 Using the Table Stand
The table stand (8) carries the microphone ex works. Adjust the angle of the microphone by loosening the two fastening screws (9) simultaneously and tighten them again after adjustment. Always use both screws at the same time.
17.4 Mounting the Microphone on a Microphone Stand
Remove the microphone from the table stand by loosening the two fastening screws (9) and unscrewing them completely. Gently spread the arms of the table stand and remove the microphone. Be careful not to drop it.
Place the microphone on the 5/8 inch thread of your microphone stand and screw it tight. Use it as described in this manual.
17.5 Connecting to a Computer
When connecting the microphone to a computer, be sure to select it as both a sound input device and a sound output device, otherwise the headphones will not work.
Tips for Use
Perform a microphone test before you plan to record. Have the sound played or generated at minimum and maximum expected volume. Select a suitable level and microphone location.
