Overview
This document details AutomationDirect's range of plastic enclosures designed for 22mm pilot devices, including pushbuttons, selector switches, and indicator lights. These enclosures are constructed from durable thermoplastic ABS and offer various configurations for mounting and protection.
Switch Enclosures
These enclosures are designed for use with 22mm pilot devices and feature molded knock-outs for 1/2" conduit fittings. They meet CEI EN 60947-5-1 standards, are made of UL94/HB compliant Thermoplastic ABS, and feature Caoutchouc (rubber) foam gaskets for IP65 protection according to CEI EN 60529.

Important Notes on Enclosure Depth and Over-tightening
- Enclosure Depth: Switches with two-deep contact blocks require 74mm deep enclosures. 51mm-deep enclosures are too shallow for these. For switches with one-deep contact blocks, either 51mm or 74mm deep enclosures can be used.
- Over-tightening: Do not over-tighten securing screws when installing pushbuttons, switches, and joysticks. Over-tightening can crack the plastic body of the enclosure.
- Securing Screws: Ensure securing screws have good purchase away from perforated keyway slots. Tighten screws to 4.5 lb·in or less.
Enclosure Depth Requirement Illustration
A diagram shows that 74mm deep enclosures are suitable for two-deep contact blocks (indicated by ✅ "YES!"), while 51mm deep enclosures are not (indicated by ❌ "NO!").

Pushbuttons and indicator lights are supplied with appropriate contact blocks, unless otherwise indicated. Use the following drawings as a guide to ensure adequate clearance behind the panel.

- Standard Layout: Suitable for switches at 230V or less and same polarity. Features Ø22.5 mm [Ø0.89] mounting holes, with center-to-center distances of 30.0 mm [1.18] and 40.0 mm [1.57].
- Alternative Layout: Suitable for switches at 400V or less and different polarity. Features Ø22.5 mm [Ø0.89] mounting holes, with center-to-center distances of 30.0 mm [1.18] and 40.0 mm [1.57].
Contact Block Arrangement
Contact blocks can be arranged up to three deep by two wide.
