Installation Instructions

Before Using the Wine Cooler

  • Remove exterior and interior packing.
  • Check for all parts: 5 Wooden Shelves with Wooden Front Keys, Stainless Steel Handle, Instruction Manual, L-Shaped Screwdriver.
  • Before connecting to power, let the unit stand upright for approximately 24-36 hours to reduce potential malfunctions from transportation.
  • Clean the interior surface with lukewarm water and a soft cloth.
  • Install the handle on the left side of the door.

Installation of the Wine Cooler

This appliance is designed for freestanding or built-in (fully recessed) installation. Place it on a floor strong enough to support its fully loaded weight. Adjust the front leveling legs to level the product.

Locate the product away from direct sunlight and heat sources (stove, heater, radiator, etc.) as direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption. Avoid extreme cold ambient temperatures (below 60°F / 16°C) and moist areas.

For best performance, install in an ambient temperature between 72°-78°F. Performance may be affected if the ambient temperature is outside this range.

Built-in Cabinet Instructions

For built-in installation, leave a 6 mm space on each side and at the top for proper air circulation to the compressor and condenser. Do not obstruct the front exhaust vent with any objects.

Diagram illustrating built-in cabinet opening dimensions: Minimum Width: 11.72" (29.8 cm), Minimum Depth: 22.65" (57.6 cm), Minimum Height: 34.37" (87.3 cm). The diagram also shows the unit's external dimensions: 11.6"W x 22.4"D (24.1" with handle) x 34.25"H.

Electrical Connection

NOTE: Improper use of the grounded plug can result in electrical shock. If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced by an authorized service center.

This appliance should be properly grounded for your safety. The power cord has a three-prong plug for standard three-prong wall outlets.

NOTE: Plug the unit into an exclusive, properly installed-grounded wall outlet. Do not cut or remove the third (ground) prong. Direct any questions concerning power and/or grounding to a certified electrician or authorized service center.

The appliance should be plugged into its own individual electrical outlet matching the rating label to ensure best performance and prevent overloading house wiring circuits.

Never unplug by pulling the power cord; grip the plug firmly and pull straight out. Repair or replace frayed or damaged power cords immediately. Do not use cords with cracks or abrasion damage.

This appliance requires a standard 115/120 Volt AC ~/60Hz electrical ground outlet with a three-prong plug. Ensure the outlet is properly grounded by a qualified electrician. If a 2-prong outlet is encountered, it is your responsibility to replace it with a properly grounded 3-prong outlet.

Secure the cord behind the appliance and do not leave it exposed or dangling.

Power Bar with Surge Protection (Recommended)

Most electrical appliances use control boards susceptible to power surges. If your area is prone to power surges or outages, use a surge protector with a high enough surge block to protect the appliance.

Consult a licensed electrician for questions regarding surge protector type and size.

Extension Cord

Due to potential safety hazards, using an extension cord is strongly discouraged. However, if necessary, use a UL/CUL-Listed, 3-wire grounding type extension cord with a grounding plug and outlet, rated for 115 volts and at least 10 amperes.

Installing the Handle

The wine cooler includes a stainless steel handle. Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Remove the door gasket where the handle will be installed on the left side of the door by hand.
  2. Use the two handle screws, lock washer, and flat washer (included with the instruction manual) to attach the handle from the inside of the door to the outside.
  3. Align the handle holes with the screws and tighten them with a screwdriver until the handle base is flush with the door and the handle is secure but not overtightened.
  4. Replace the door gasket.

Diagram showing parts for handle installation: 1. Gasket, 2. Flat washer, 3. Lock washer, 4. Screw, 5. Handle, 6. Doorframe.

Installing Reversible Door

Follow these steps to reverse the door swing:

  1. Remove the bottom hinge holder by unscrewing the two lock screws. Hold the glass door firmly.
  2. Gently pull down to remove the glass door from the right top hinge and place it on a padded surface.
  3. Using a flat-head screwdriver, gently pry up the decorative hinge cover plate from the top left of the unit and the round black decorative cover caps on the upper left side of the inside cabinet frame. Use these to cover the screw holes on the right-hand side.
  4. Move the top hinge from the right-hand side to the left side, using the provided upper right hinge. Remove screws from the cabinet, install the new hinge, and change the handle location to the left side.
  5. Relocate the door to the left-hand side by aligning the door hinge holes with the hinge. Screw the bottom hinge assembly with the lower hinge fixer onto the left designated position and tighten after leveling the door.

Operating Your Wine Cooler

Install the beverage refrigerator in a place with an ambient temperature between 19°C-24°C (66°F-75°F). Performance may be affected by extreme cold or hot conditions, potentially preventing the unit from reaching the 34°F-54°F (1°C-12°C) range.

Control Panel

? ON/OFF: Press the ON/OFF buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds to turn the unit on or off.
? INSIDE LIGHTING: Press the light button to turn the interior lighting on or off.
?️ TEMPERATURE DISPLAY: Press the light button for 5 seconds to switch between °C and °F display.
[+] BUTTON: Increases the temperature by 1°C or 1°F.
[-] BUTTON: Decreases the temperature by 1°C or 1°F.

NOTE: If the unit is unplugged, loses power, or is turned off, wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting. Attempting to restart too soon may prevent the wine cellar from starting.

When using the refrigerator for the first time or after a long shutdown, there might be a slight variance between the selected temperature and the LED readout due to activation time. This is normal and will stabilize after a few hours of operation.

Setting the Temperature

The temperature range for the YEG-WD12 is 40°F-65°F (5°C-18°C). The UP (+) and DOWN (-) buttons adjust the temperature by 1°C or 1°F per press.

The unit has two separate temperature zones. Both zones can be set between 40°F and 65°F (5°C and 18°C).

  • The LOWER temperature zone is ideal for storing both white and red wine.
  • The UPPER temperature zone is suitable for storing champagne and white wine.

The temperature in the lower zone must be set at the same or a higher temperature than the upper zone. For optimal performance, the temperatures in the two zones should differ by at least 4°C.

Storage and Operation Details

This product is designed for storing and cooling wine, not for perishable foods.

Large Storage Capacity

The wine cooler can store approximately 17 traditional Bordeaux 750ml bottles. It can hold 3 bottles on each shelf and 2 standard bottles in the bottom of the cabinet.

Diagram showing how to place bottles on shelves, indicating a capacity of 17 bottles.

Shelves

The appliance is equipped with 3 glass shelves with holes for improved air circulation. To prevent door gasket damage, open the door fully when pulling shelves out. Pull shelves out about 1/3 of the way for easy access.

Wine Conservation Temperatures

Wine Type °C °F
Sparkling wines 5-8 40-47
Rose wines 10-11 49-51
Dry/white wines 9-14 48-57
Red wines 15-22 58-72

Moving the Wine Cooler

  1. Remove all items.
  2. Securely tape down all loose items (shelves) inside the appliance.
  3. Turn the adjustable leg up to the base to avoid damage.
  4. Tape the door shut.
  5. Ensure the appliance remains secure in an upright position during transportation. If horizontal transport is necessary, transport it on its back (door on top).
  6. Protect the exterior with a blanket or similar item.

Lock and Key

The unit comes with a lock and key. The keys are located inside the plastic bag with the Instruction Manual. Insert the key into the lock and turn counterclockwise to unlock. Reverse the operation to lock, ensuring the metal pin is fully engaged. Remove the key and store it safely.

Maintenance and Care

Cleaning the Wine Cooler

Turn off the power, unplug the appliance, and remove all items, including shelves.

Wash interior surfaces with a warm water and baking soda solution (2 tablespoons baking soda to 1 cup water). Wash shelves with a mild detergent solution.

Wring out excess water from sponges/cloths when cleaning near controls or electrical parts. Wash the outside cabinet with warm water and mild liquid detergent. Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean soft cloth.

NOTE: Please disconnect the unit during operation to avoid risk of electric shock or personal injury.

Charcoal Filtration System

The beverage refrigerator is equipped with an active charcoal filtration system to ensure air purity and maintain an odor-free cabinet. The filter is located at the bottom of the rear panel inside the cellar and should be changed every 12 months.

  1. Remove bottles from the two shelves in front of the filter.
  2. Remove shelves and set aside.
  3. Hold the filter and turn it 45 degrees counterclockwise, then pull it out.
  4. Remove the existing filter and replace it with a new one.
  5. Insert the new filter and turn it 45 degrees clockwise.

Automatic Defrosting

The unit defrosts automatically. The evaporator behind the rear wall defrosts, and condensate collects in the drainage channel, flowing through a hole into the drip tray by the compressor where it evaporates.

Power Failure

Most power failures are corrected within hours and should not affect appliance temperature if the door is opened minimally. If a prolonged power outage is expected, take steps to protect contents.

Energy Saving Tips

  • Locate the refrigerator in the coolest area of the room, away from heat-producing appliances and direct sunlight.
  • Ensure proper ventilation allowances on all sides. Never cover air vents.
  • Only open the cooler door when necessary, as frequent opening affects internal temperature.
