Important Safety Rules
Read all instructions before using the wine cooler. To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or injury, follow these basic precautions:
[DANGER] Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet; do not remove the grounding prong, use an adapter, or use an extension cord. Replace all panels before operating. Use a dedicated circuit. Never clean appliance parts with flammable fluids. Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids nearby.
[WARNING] Ensure safe moving and installation with assistance from two or more individuals. Ensure proper ventilation; the unit must be installed in a well-ventilated area between 60°F (16°C) and 90°F (32°C), protected from elements. Do not locate next to heat sources. Install according to local codes. Disconnect power before cleaning or servicing. Do not attempt repairs unless recommended. Do not kink or pinch the power cord. Fuse/breaker size should be 15 amperes. Level the appliance for proper operation. Never allow children to operate, play with, or crawl inside. Do not use solvent-based cleaning agents or abrasives.
Flammable Refrigerant Gas
This appliance contains R600a refrigerant, which is environmentally friendly but flammable. Ensure refrigerant tubing is not damaged during transport and installation. Avoid sharp objects. Leaking refrigerant can ignite and damage eyes. In case of damage, avoid open fires and sparks; disconnect power and ventilate the room. Notify Customer Service. The room must be at least 1 cubic meter per 0.28 Oz of refrigerant.
[DANGER] Risk of fire or explosion due to flammable refrigerant. DO NOT use mechanical devices to defrost. DO NOT puncture refrigerant tubing. Only trained service personnel should repair units with flammable refrigerants.
[WARNING] Flammable refrigerants pose a fire or explosion hazard. Refer to the Service Manual for guidance. Dispose of property in accordance with regulations. Follow handling instructions carefully to avoid risk of fire or explosion from puncturing tubing. Keep out of reach of children to prevent entrapment.
Child entrapment and suffocation are serious risks. Before discarding an old appliance, remove the door but leave shelves in place to prevent climbing.
Installation Instructions
Before Using the Wine Cooler
- Remove exterior and interior packing.
- Check for all parts: 5 Wooden Shelves, 1 Stainless Steel Handle, 4 Adjustable Leveling Feet, 1 L-Shaped Screwdriver, 1 Instruction Manual.
- Before connecting to power, let the unit stand upright for 24-36 hours to reduce potential cooling system malfunctions from transport.
- Clean interior surfaces with a soft cloth and lukewarm water.
- Install the handle on the left side of the door.
Installation of the Wine Cooler
The appliance is designed for freestanding or built-in (fully recessed) installation. Place on a floor strong enough to support its loaded weight. Adjust front leveling legs to level the unit.
Position the unit away from direct sunlight and heat sources (stoves, heaters, radiators). Avoid areas with extreme cold (below 60°F/16°C), moisture, or dampness. For optimal performance, maintain ambient temperatures between 72°F and 78°F.
Built-in Cabinet Instructions
For built-in installation, allow a 6 mm space on each side and at the top for proper air circulation. Ensure the front exhaust vent is not blocked. Adjust leveling feet to ensure the refrigerator fits securely and is level.
Electrical Connection
[NOTE] Improper use of the grounded plug can cause electrical shock. If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced by an authorized service center. Proper grounding is essential.
[NOTE] Plug the unit into an exclusive, properly grounded wall outlet. Do not cut or remove the third prong. Consult a certified electrician for questions about power and grounding. The appliance requires a standard AC115V/60Hz grounded outlet. Ensure the outlet is properly grounded and replace 2-prong outlets with 3-prong ones. Secure the cord behind the appliance.
Power Bar with Surge Protection (Recommended)
Electrical appliances are susceptible to power surges. Connecting all devices to a surge protector is recommended, especially in areas prone to surges or outages. Ensure the protector has an adequate joule rating.
Extension Cord
To avoid safety hazards, do not use an extension cord. If absolutely necessary, use a UL/CUL-listed, 3-wire grounding cord rated for 115 volts and at least 10 amperes.
Installing the Handle
Follow these steps to install the stainless steel handle:
- Remove the door gasket from the left side of the door by hand.
- Insert the two handle screws, lock washer, and flat washer from the inside to the outside of the door.
- Align the handle holes with the screws and tighten with a screwdriver until the handle base is flush with the door surface. Ensure the handle is secure but not overtightened.
- Reinstall the door gasket.
Note: Handle screws are packed with other accessories in the manual bag.
Operating Your Wine Cooler
Install the wine refrigerator in an area where ambient temperature is maintained between 66°F and 75°F (19°C to 24°C) for optimal performance.
Control Panel
- [ON/OFF]: Press and hold for 5 seconds to turn the unit on or off.
- [LIGHT]: Press to turn the interior lighting on or off.
- [TEMP DISPLAY]: Press and hold the light button for 5 seconds to switch between °C and °F display.
- [+] BUTTON: Press to increase the temperature by 1°C or 1°F.
- [-] BUTTON: Press to decrease the temperature by 1°C or 1°F.
[NOTE] If the unit is unplugged or powered off, allow 3 to 5 minutes before restarting to prevent starting failure.
When first using or restarting after a long shutdown, slight variances between set and displayed temperatures may occur during the initial stabilization period.
Setting the Temperature
The wine cooler (YG-WD12-23) operates between 40°F-65°F (5°C-18°C). Use the [+] and [-] buttons to adjust temperature by 1°C or 1°F per press. The unit has two separate temperature zones. Both zones can be set between 40°F and 65°F (5°C and 18°C). The lower zone is ideal for white and red wine, while the upper zone is suitable for champagne and white wine. The lower zone temperature must be set equal to or higher than the upper zone. For optimal performance, a difference of at least 4°C between zones is recommended.
Large Storage Capacity
Approximately 17 traditional Bordeaux 750ml bottles can be stored. You can place 3 bottles on each shelf and 2 bottles in the bottom of the cabinet.
Shelves
The appliance has 5 removable wooden shelves. To prevent door gasket damage, open the door fully before pulling shelves out. Pull shelves out about 1/3 for easy access.
Moving the Wine Cooler
- Remove all items (drinks).
- Tape down loose items (shelves) securely.
- Turn adjustable legs up to the base to avoid damage.
- Tape the door shut.
- Ensure the appliance remains secure and upright during transportation. If transporting horizontally, place it on its back with the door on top.
- Protect the exterior with a blanket or similar item.
Cleaning the Wine Cooler
Before cleaning, power off and unplug. Remove contents and shelves. Clean interior surfaces with a warm water-based baking soda solution (2 tbsp baking soda per 1 cup water). Wash shelves with mild detergent, rinse, and dry. For control panel/electrical components, use a wrung-out sponge/cloth. Wipe exterior with warm water and mild liquid detergent, then rinse and dry.
[NOTE] Disconnect the unit from power before cleaning to avoid electric shock or injury.
Charcoal Filtration System
The wine refrigerator has an active charcoal filter for air purity and odor control, located at the bottom of the rear panel. Replace the filter every 12 months. To replace: remove bottles and shelves, grip the old filter, rotate 45 degrees counterclockwise, pull out, discard, insert new filter, and secure by rotating 45 degrees clockwise.
Automatic Defrosting
The unit defrosts automatically. Condensate collects in the drainage channel behind the rear wall and flows into the drip tray by the compressor.
Power Failure
Power failures usually do not affect temperature if door openings are minimized. For extended outages, take steps to protect contents.
Energy Saving Tips
- Place the wine refrigerator in the coolest area, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
- Ensure adequate space on all sides for proper ventilation. Never cover air vents.
- Minimize door opening time, as frequent opening affects internal temperature.
