3. Description and Features

The VEO-XTI1CG2 transmitter and VEO-XRI1CG2 receiver form a set of H.265 / H.264 over IP video extenders, enabling HDMI® distribution over 1Gb Ethernet networks with video resolutions up to 1080p@60Hz. These devices offer a professional, high-quality, low-bandwidth compression solution suitable for point-to-point and multipoint-to-multipoint configurations using a single Cat. 5e/6/7 cable up to 100m. They are ideal for applications requiring audio management, PoE, VideoWall composition, or RS-232 control, such as educational, commercial, or corporate installations.

3.1 Main Features

4. Installation and Connections

4.1 Rack Mounting VEO-RK1CG2

This product can be mounted in the VEO-RK1CG2 3U rack accessory. Follow these steps:

  1. Attach the included mounting ears to the product using the provided screws.
  2. Insert the apparatus with the mounting ears into a 3U rack (up to 12 units can be installed vertically).
  3. Secure the mounting ears to the rack using screws to complete the installation.

4.2 Network Requirements and Configuration

The VEO-XTI1CG2 and VEO-XRI1CG2 are compatible with various network hardware brands, but the network must support the following:

Note: For optimal performance and to avoid interference, consult your network administrator for proper multicast configuration.

4.2.1 IP Address Configuration

The default IP address is "auto IP" in the range 169.254.10.x for transmitters and 169.254.20.x for receivers. Dynamic assignment is possible via the VEO-XCTRLG2 controller. Refer to the VEO-XCTRLG2 user manual for details.

You can verify the assigned IP address using the VEO-1CG2 Discovery App or by pressing the CH Select button on the front panel. Refer to the "Additional Functions of the CH Select Buttons" chapter for details.

IP addresses can be changed via the integrated web interface. Ensure the PC and VEO devices are on the same network domain for web access. Refer to the "Configuration via Web Interface" chapter.

Note: Static IP addresses must be configured manually.

4.2.2 Quick Start for Video Distribution

To start video transmission, a transmitter and receiver must be paired. Each VEO-XTI1CG2 can transmit video over the network using a unique channel ID. Channel IDs 0 to 762 identify an IP address, and each VEO-XRI1CG2 receiver can select a channel to receive an AV stream.

Channel IDs are typically set once during system configuration for transmitters, while receiver IDs are adjusted to display different content.

Channel ID can be selected in four ways:

4.2.3 Unicast Mode

For point-to-point extension, no additional configuration is needed.

Connections:

  1. Connect the source device to the VEO-XTI1CG2 HDMI® input.
  2. Connect the AUDIO IN/OUT port to a sound device and select the desired audio mode.
  3. Connect the remote endpoint to the VEO-XRI1CG2 HDMI® output.
  4. Connect the transmitter and receiver with a Cat5e/6/7 cable.
  5. Connect the automation system to the transmitter's RS-232 port.
  6. Connect the device to be controlled to the receiver's RS-232 port.
  7. Power the VEO-XTI1CG2 and VEO-XRI1CG2 using the included power adapter.

Note: Ensure both devices have the same ID.

4.2.4 Multicast Mode

For multipoint-to-multipoint topologies, each transmitter and receiver requires a unique IP address. It is recommended to create a separate IP video network using managed network switches, preferably gigabit switches with IGMP support.

Connections:

  1. Configure the IP address for each transmitter and receiver.
  2. Connect source devices to the VEO-XTI1CG2 HDMI® inputs.
  3. Connect HDMI® endpoints to the VEO-XRI1CG2 HDMI® outputs.
  4. Connect the AUDIO IN/OUT port to a sound device and select the desired audio mode.
  5. Connect the automation system to the transmitters' RS-232 ports via cable.
  6. Connect the receivers to the control devices' ports via RS-232 cables.
  7. Connect all VEO devices to the network switch using Cat. 5e/6/7 cables.
  8. Power the VEO-XTI1CG2 and VEO-XRI1CG2 with the included adapter. If the switch supports PoE, local power is not required.
  9. Select the desired channel ID for each VEO device to establish the necessary video transmission flows.

5. Startup and Operation

5.1 Configuration via Web Interface
