Introduction
This guide provides essential information for assembling and starting your Minelab EQUINOX 600 or EQUINOX 800 metal detector. It covers assembly, basic operation, and key features.
Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps to assemble your EQUINOX series metal detector:

Step 1: Connecting the Shaft Sections
Insert the plastic bolt into the lower shaft. Insert the locking connector into the holes on both sides of the shaft. Push the spring-loaded bolt on the lower shaft towards its support. Do not overtighten the plastic bolt.

Step 2: Attaching the Coil
Insert the two rubber washers into the holes of the locking connector. Align the middle shaft with the holes in the upper shaft. Push the spring-loaded bolt on the lower shaft and align it with the corresponding hole in the shaft. Secure by turning the locking mechanism clockwise.

Step 3: Attaching the Armrest
Position the armrest on the upper shaft. Align the central hole of the armrest with the nearest hole on the shaft. Thread the strap through the two holes on the armrest and the support. Secure the strap tightly, ensuring the fastening side faces outwards. Carefully tighten the strap.

Step 4: Connecting the Control Box Cable
Wrap the excess cable neatly around the shaft, leaving no slack, using the attached Velcro. Connect the control box cable to the connector on the underside of the control box. Ensure the connector and plug are securely fastened.
Quick Start Operation
Get started quickly with these four simple steps:

Step 1: Power On
Press the power button located next to the user interface.

Step 2: Select Search Mode
Choose the appropriate Search Mode for your location. The EQUINOX 800 is shown for reference.
Search Modes:
- Park: Ideal for areas with high trash content, detects a wide range of items.
- Field: Suitable for historical sites, detects a wide range of items.
- Beach: Tuned for all types of wet and dry salt-sand environments, including waves and underwater.
- Gold: Best for detecting gold nuggets in mineralized goldfields.
Each Search Mode has two pre-set Search Profiles.

Step 3: Noise Cancel
From the Settings menu, select Noise Cancel and press the button to activate the automatic Noise Cancel function. This takes approximately 8 seconds.

Step 4: Find Your Target!
Press the Pinpoint button [target-symbol] to return to the detection screen and begin searching!
Understanding the User Interface & Settings
Familiarize yourself with the controls and settings of your metal detector.
Key Controls:
- Power Button: Short press to turn the detector on/off. Long press (5 seconds) to reset to factory settings.
- Display Brightness: Adjust screen brightness or turn it off. An indicator shows when the display light is on.
- Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity level (approx. 25 levels) using the + and - buttons.
- Search Mode Button: Quickly press to cycle through Search Modes.
- Settings Button: Short press to access the Search Profile settings menu. Long press to access Advanced Settings.
- + / - Buttons: Used to adjust settings values.
- Pinpoint Button: Press to activate the Pinpoint function for precise target location. Press again to return to the detection screen.
Settings Menu:
- Search Mode: Select from Park, Field, Beach, Gold. Each mode has two profiles.
- Sensitivity: Adjust from 0 to 25.
- Noise Cancel: Automatic or Manual.
- Ground Balance: Automatic or Manual.
- Audio Settings: Includes Volume (0-25), Tone Options (1, 2, 5, 6), Accept/Reject, Iron Bias, Iron Volume, Iron Tone, All-Metal.
- Discrimination: Adjust the level of discrimination. Negative IDs (-9 to 0) indicate ferrous metals (e.g., -5). Positive IDs (1 to 40) indicate non-ferrous metals (e.g., 32).
- Target Separation: Adjust metal speed (1-3 or 1-8).
- Target ID Depth: Indicates target depth (5 levels).
- User Profile: Save current search settings. Long press to save, short press to load/unload.
Audio Options
The EQUINOX series detectors feature built-in speakers and support wireless audio. Refer to the full user manual for more audio options.
Battery Charging
The EQUINOX series detectors have a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. It is recommended to fully charge the battery before first use.
- Connect the USB connector of the magnetic charging cable to a standard USB power source.
- Connect the magnetic charging connector to the charging port behind the user interface.
- The LED indicator shows charging status: Flashing means charging, solid means fully charged.
For extended use, you can connect a portable charger to the USB port.
Wireless Audio
Press the Wireless Audio button to toggle wireless audio mode. Long press to activate wireless audio.
Up to 4 wireless devices can be used simultaneously. Compatible with Bluetooth® and aptX™ Low Latency headphones.
