Installation Steps

Step 1: Complete Stock Intake. Visual shows the original intake system installed in the engine bay.

Step 2: Disconnect vacuum line and pull back. A hand is shown disconnecting a vacuum line from the stock intake assembly.

Step 3: Unclip upper half of air box to remove lid and filter. The upper section of the stock air box is being unclipped to access the air filter.

Step 4: Pull back rubber mount attached to battery cable. Use pliers ?️ if necessary. This will allow stock clamp to be loosened. (To be done in step 5B.) A rubber mount near the battery cable is being pulled back, requiring pliers for easier access to a clamp.

Step 5: A) Loosen clamp closest to the radiator with a 1/4" nut driver. B) Loosen clamp closest to the fire wall with a 1/4" nut driver. Leave clamps in position. Two clamps on the intake tube are being loosened using a 1/4" nut driver.

Step 6: Remove complete air box from vehicle. The entire stock air box assembly is being lifted out of the engine bay.

Step 7: Remove the 3 rubber grommets from the air box. (To be used in step 9.) Three rubber grommets are being removed from the stock air box.

Step 8: A) Attach 7/16" trim seal to the top of housing. B) Attach rubber edge trim seal to the ram air cut out on the housing. New trim seals are being applied to the new intake housing: a 7/16" seal on top (A) and a rubber edge seal on the ram air opening (B).

Step 9: Install rubber grommets from step 7 onto the new housing. The previously removed rubber grommets are being installed onto the new intake housing.

Step 10: Install new tube into vehicle and pull back towards driver fender. Do not tighten clamps. The new intake tube is being positioned in the engine bay, directed towards the driver's side fender, with clamps left loose.

Step 11: Install housing into factory position. The new intake housing is being placed into its designated mounting location.

Step 12: Push down housing allowing grommets to seat. Align threaded insert with hole on housing. Downward pressure is applied to the housing to ensure the grommets are properly seated, and a threaded insert is aligned with a mounting hole.

Step 13: Install screw, washer and wavy washer provided, and tighten with 10mm socket or wrench. Tighten clamps to tube with 1/4" nut driver. The new housing is secured using the provided screw and washers, and the intake tube clamps are tightened.

Step 14: Install air filters and tighten with 5/16" nut driver and connect vacuum line. The aFe air filters are installed onto the intake tubes and secured, and the vacuum line is reconnected.

Step 15: Your installation is now complete. Periodically check and tighten all clamps and hoses. Thank you for choosing aFe! The final installation is shown with both air filters in place.

Important Notes

Filter Cleaning and Re-oiling: When cleaning your aFe filter, use only aFe's "Restore Kit" (aFe P/N: 90-50001 blue oil aerosol, aFe P/N: 90-50501 blue squeeze bottle oil, aFe P/N: 90-59999 Pro Dry S™ cleaner only).

Filter Replacement: Pro-5R™ PN: 24-90054 (black w/blue media). Pro Dry S™ P/N: 21-90054 (black w/white media) or 72-35008 Pro-GUARD 7™ media (black w/gold media). Pre-filters: 28-10011 yellow, 28-10012 red.
