General Information for Cooking Under Pressure
- Once pressure builds up, the pressure limit valve rises, activating the lid's safety lock. Never attempt to open the lid during pressure cooking.
- During the first few uses, slight leaking from the pressure limit valve and sealing gasket may occur as pressure builds up; this is normal.
- Traditional recipes can be adapted to the PRESSURE COOK setting:
- Low Pressure: For delicate food like fish, shellfish, and some vegetables.
- Medium Pressure: For vegetables.
- High Pressure: For meat and frozen food.
- A small amount of steam escaping during cooking is normal, as the valve is a safety valve.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Once cooking is complete, unplug the appliance before cleaning. It is recommended to clean after each use. (See fig. 25)
- Clean the housing and inside of the lid with a damp cloth. (See fig. 32-33) Do not immerse the appliance or pour water into it without the inner bowl. (See fig. 27)
- Remove and thoroughly clean the condensation collector under water. Replace it in its original position. (See fig. 35)
- Rinse the sealing gasket and dry it thoroughly before replacing.
- To clean the float valve: remove the lid (fig. 36), gently remove the valve from the lid (fig. 37), rinse under water, and dry thoroughly. Ensure the duct is clean before replacing the float valve.
- Press the internal part of the safety valve spring to check it is not clogged. (See fig. 38)
- Clean the cooking pot and accessories. Accessories are dishwasher safe. (See fig. 29) Do not use a scourer on the pot to avoid damaging the non-stick coating.
- Remove the pressure limit valve from the pipe and clean both the valve and pipe with water. Once dry, ensure the pipe duct is clean before reattaching the valve. (See fig. 31)
- Do not immerse the appliance. Always use the provided cooking pot. Do not pour water or food directly into the appliance. (See fig. 27)
- If the appliance is inadvertently immersed in water or water spills on the heating element (without the pot), take it to a service centre for repair.
- Change the sealing gasket every 2 years.
