  • Using the stroller with children weighing more than 50 pounds (22.62 kg) per seat, or more than 100 pounds (45.25 kg) total, or over 42 inches (106.7 cm) tall, will cause excessive wear and stress and may cause a hazardous unstable condition.
  • NEVER use the stroller on stairways or escalators.
  • NEVER use the stroller with roller skates, in-line skates, skateboards, or bicycles.
  • We recommend the child occupant be at least 6 months of age prior to use for jogging. Consult your health care provider regarding use with your child.
  • NEVER allow your stroller to be used as a toy.
  • To clean, use only mild household soap or detergent and warm water on a sponge or clean cloth.

Assembly Instructions

IMPORTANT! To ensure safe operation of your stroller, please follow these instructions carefully. Keep these instructions for future reference.

IMPORTANT! Before assembly and each use, inspect this product for damaged hardware, loose joints, missing parts, or sharp edges. NEVER use if any parts are missing or broken.

IMPORTANT! Adult assembly is required.

Front Wheels Assembly:

To attach the front wheels:

  1. Lift up on the stroller handle with both hands until the stroller frame is erect and locked in the open position (as shown in Figure 1). Lean the stroller backwards so that it rests on the handle and rear axle frame, with the front wheel forks pointing upward.
  2. Slide the front wheels onto the front forks (as shown in Figure 2).
  3. Ensure the raised tabs on the retainer plate are pointing toward the fork. Slide the retainer plate onto the fork. The smallest tab on the retainer plate must align with the slot before tightening the wheel (as shown in Figure 3). This wheel uses a front wheel double nut locking system. Follow all instructions carefully to ensure your child's safety. Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious injury or death.
  4. Install the axel nuts and tighten with a standard wrench. You should feel significant resistance, and the wheel should be held tightly in place (as shown in Figure 4).

Fender Assembly:

To secure the fender to the frame, use the 4 screws provided.

  1. Examine the bottom of the front fender. You will notice four 1/4 inch diameter plastic tubes protruding from the bottom (as shown in Figure 5a).
  2. These tubes must be aligned with the holes in the front frame assembly (as shown in Figure 5b).
  3. Line up the front fender and press it onto the front frame assembly (as shown in Figure 5c).
  4. Insert the 4 screws through the underside of the front frame assembly into the front fender's plastic tubes. Tighten the screws only until snug (as shown in Figure 5d). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

Rear Wheel Assembly:

  1. Lean the stroller forward to rest on the front wheels. To attach the rear wheels, push each wheel's axle into the plastic corner fitting (as shown in Figure 6). Depress the metal lever on the inside of the corner fitting as you push the axle into the fitting. When the wheel will not go on any farther, release the lever. Note: Check that the wheel has locked into the corner fitting by pulling on the wheel. If not locked, lift upward on the lever, push the wheel on farther, and release the lever.
  2. Ensure that the wheels are firmly locked into place. NEVER use the stroller if the wheels are not locked into place. Contact customer service immediately at 1-800-328-7363 (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. PST) for assistance.

Parent Tray Assembly:

To attach the parent tray:

  1. Position the parent tray in the center of the stroller handle.
  2. Snap the upper portion of the tray over the handle (as shown in Figure 7a).
  3. Attach the lower portion of the parent tray to the cross tube, using the screws provided (as shown in Figure 7b).

WARNING: Do not place hot liquids or more than 3 pounds in the parent tray. Serious burns or unstable conditions could result.

Canopies Assembly:

To open the canopy:

  1. Push forward on the front edge of the canopy. Push downward on the tensioners to secure (as shown in Figure 8).

Canopy Folding:

To fold the canopy:

  1. Pull upwards on the tensioners and then pull backwards on the front edge (as shown in Figure 9).

Child Tray Assembly:

To attach the child tray:

  1. Push the tray downward and onto each side of the front armrests until both sides snap into place (as shown in Figure 10).

NOTE: Check that the tray is securely latched in place.

WARNING: Do not place hot liquids or more than 3 pounds in the child's tray. Serious burns or unstable conditions could result.

Seatback Positioning:

The seat has a multiple position recline controlled by a strap and buckle assembly behind the seat (as shown in Figure 11a). To recline the seat, loosen the strap and adjust to the required recline position (as shown in Figure 11b). To place the seat back in a more upright position, press upward on the seat back with one hand while pulling the strap through the buckle with the other. The strap will lock automatically. The upright position should be used only for a child that is at least 6 months old. Always readjust the safety harness, including the shoulder belts, when repositioning the seat back.

Child Seat Access:

  • To access the child seat: Pull one side of the release lever (as shown in Figure 11c), located on the underside of the child tray, and lift upward (as shown in Figure 11d).
  • When placing a child into or taking a child out of the stroller, it is recommended that you open the front trays from the center as illustrated. To open the child trays, pull forward on the release lever located on the underside of the trays and lift upward (as shown in Figure 11e).
  • To remove the child tray: Pull both release levers located on the underside of each side of the tray and lift upward (as shown in Figure 11f).

Accessories

MP3 Speaker

MP3 speakers plug-in in the parent tray, compatible with most MP3 players.

The parent tray comes with speakers with an MP3 jack inside. The speakers have a wire with a male jack for use with MP3 players so you and your child can listen to music while you stroll. Connect the male end of the speaker wire into your MP3 player (as shown in Figure 12).

Safety Features

Brakes

WARNING: Always set brakes when the stroller is not being pushed so that the stroller will not roll away. NEVER leave stroller unattended on a hill or incline as the stroller may slide down the hill.

To engage brakes, apply light downward pressure to the brake lever located on each rear wheel. The stroller may require slight forward or rearward movement to align the teeth on the brake with the wheel brake cluster (as shown in Figure 13). NOTE: Check that the stroller will not move and that both brakes are properly applied.

To release, gently lift up on the brake lever.

Front Wheel Lock

WARNING: Always lock the front swivel wheels in the STRAIGHT position before placing or removing your children from the jogger.

FALL HAZARD: To prevent tip-over before running, jogging, or walking fast, lock the front wheel from swiveling.

The swivel jogger is equipped with a front wheel locking device. The front wheel lock works in a vertical motion, locking and unlocking the wheel (as shown in Figure 14).

Securing the Child

Before placing your children in the stroller, please follow these instructions:

WARNING: Always check with your pediatrician for a recommended starting age/weight for your baby in an all-terrain stroller.

WARNING: Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. Always use the safety harness.

STRANGULATION HAZARD: Children have strangled when straps have wrapped around their neck. Remove strap when not in use and place in stroller storage pocket. Keep this stroller carrier strap out of children's reach.

The shoulder straps of the 5-point harness have 2 adjustment positions. Select the position that places the shoulder strap level with, or below the top of the child's shoulder.

Carefully place the child in the stroller seat and bring the safety harness around the child's waist and over the shoulders. Place the crotch strap between the child's legs. Insert the male end of each shoulder/waist belt into the buckle on the crotch strap. Tighten the harness to be snug around the child's waist and over the child's shoulders (as shown in Figure 15a).

To release, push the button on the center clasp; the two harness buckles will pop free (as shown in Figure 15b).

Safety Wrist Strap:

Always connect the safety strap to either wrist when jogging. This strap will keep the stroller from rolling away if you trip while running (as shown in Figure 16a).

The safety strap must remain connected to the rear lower frame cross member at all times. This location is intended to prevent the stroller from tipping backward if you fall. The safety strap includes an attachment for storage on the left side of the stroller when not in use (as shown in Figure 16b).

Tires and Maintenance

Tires

The jogging stroller features bicycle tires for extended wear and ease of pushing. Like any bicycle tire, the jogging stroller tires can get flat tires.

If you have a flat tire, you can use a standard bicycle tire repair kit or take the tire to a bicycle shop for repair. If you experience frequent flat tires, consider purchasing thorn-proof inner tubes for the jogging stroller. These can be purchased at bicycle stores or many national retail stores. The correct size is shown on the tire sidewall.

Tires are shipped un-inflated. Tires should be inflated regularly to the PSI specified on each tire. Always use a bicycle-style hand air pump to inflate the tires. (*Pump not included.)

Flat Tire:

The jogging stroller has bicycle tires for extended wear and ease of pushing. If you get a flat tire, you can use a standard bicycle tire repair kit or take the tire to a bicycle shop for repair. If you experience numerous flat tires, you may want to purchase thorn-proof inner tubes for the jogging stroller. These can be purchased at bicycle stores or at many national retail stores. The correct size to purchase is shown on the sidewall of the tire.

Folding and Unfolding

Folding the Stroller:

WARNING: Care must be taken when folding and unfolding the stroller to prevent finger entrapment.

CAUTION: Do not allow children near the stroller while folding.

Close the canopy as described in the canopy section. Recline the seat by releasing the buckle as described in the seat back positioning section.

The stroller is folded by simultaneously pulling each trigger fold (as shown in Figure 17a). When the fold latches are released, the handle will begin to fall toward the floor. Release the fold buttons and press downward on the stroller handle until the stroller is completely folded. Secure the stroller in the folded position by locking the fold latch, located on the right side of the stroller, over the rivet that protrudes from the frame (as shown in Figure 17b).

Unfolding the Stroller:

CAUTION: Do not allow children near the stroller while unfolding.

Stand the stroller on the ground with all three wheels touching the ground. Release the folding latch, which is located on the right side (as shown in Figure 18a).

Lift up on the stroller handle with both hands until the stroller frame is erected and locked in the open position (as shown in Figure 18b). NOTE: The stroller has spring-loaded latches on both sides of the frame. Test that both latches are fully engaged prior to placing your child in the stroller.

Troubleshooting and Adjustments

Testing for Proper Wheel Installation:

WARNING: ALWAYS check the double nut locking system before each use to ensure that the front wheel is securely fastened to the frame.

If you experience front wheels wobbling that is beyond normal for walking or jogging, you may need to adjust the front wheel housing nut. This nut is located under the footrest at the front of the jogger. Use a standard crescent wrench to tighten the nut. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, as this can cause damage to the wheel housing (as shown in Figure 19).

Wheel Adjustment:

It should be noted that all four-wheel vehicles can be influenced to deviate from a straight line. Strollers can tend to pull to the right/left due to factors like uneven tire pressure, improper wheel installation, road conditions, and manufacturing tolerances. If your Baby Trend stroller significantly tracks or pulls to the left or right on flat terrain, follow the instructions on page 18 to realign your front wheel.

Wheel Attachment Check:

Lift the front end of the stroller up and pull down on the wheel to ensure it is attached (as shown in Figure 20). NOTE: The wheel must not detach.

Suspension:

Suspension is featured on this model. To ensure a smooth ride, check the suspension periodically to make sure it is working properly.
