Pioneer VSX-832 and VSX-932 Network AV Receivers
Introducing Advanced 5.1 and 7.2-Channel Home Theater Experience
Product Announcement
Pioneer announces the launch of two new network AV receivers: the 5.1-channel VSX-832 and the 7.2-channel VSX-932. The VSX-832 supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X through 3.1.2-channel layouts, while the VSX-932 offers object-based audio reproduction via 5.2.2 channels.
These receivers feature Pioneer's exclusive MCACC automatic sound adjustment technology and offer convenient audio streaming via Chromecast built-in, DTS Play-Fi, Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, and TuneIn over a stable dual-band Wi-Fi connection. FireConnect powered by Blackfire enables wireless multi-room audio. Key highlights include a 384 kHz/32-bit DAC, a refined GUI, and video pass-through for Dolby Vision, HDR10, and BT.2020 via HDCP 2.2-compliant HDMI.
Built for Powerful Sound and Immersive Audio
Both AV receivers deliver 130 W/Ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 1.0%, 1 channel driven) for a thrilling and immersive surround-sound performance. Pioneer's acclaimed low-distortion amplification system provides wideband frequency reproduction for a large, realistic soundstage with precise detail.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X Support
The VSX-832 is the first Pioneer AV receiver to support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object-based audio reproduction through 5.1 channels. With Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, users can experience a multi-dimensional sound field in 3.1.2-channel or 2.1.2-channel layouts without in-ceiling speakers. The VSX-932 supports these formats through a 5.2.2-channel layout.
Surround Enhancer Mode
Developed by Dolby Laboratories, Surround Enhancer technology replicates surround speaker sound images using DSP algorithms and Head-Related Transfer Function (HRTF). This technology works with Dolby Atmos and conventional audio formats, creating a virtual 5.1.2-channel surround-sound experience without the need for ceiling or rear speakers. (Note: Support for some features may require firmware updates).
MCACC with Phase Control Technology
MCACC (Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System) is Pioneer's proprietary acoustic compensation technology. It automatically compensates for speaker differences (size, level, distance) and equalizes response for an ideal listening environment. Phase Control Technology eliminates phase lag between main channels and the subwoofer, ensuring clearer mid- and high-range sound and dynamic impact for LFEs, creating a realistic soundstage.
Reflex Optimizer
This technology optimizes Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers by resolving phase lag caused by high-directivity sound reflecting off ceilings, ensuring clear sound imaging and seamless integration with floor speakers for a comfortable sound field.
Advanced Connectivity and Features
Speaker Layouts and Zone 2
The VSX-932 supports 7.2-channel surround-sound with Zone 2 line output, 5.2-channel surround with Powered Zone 2 and/or Zone 2 line output, and 5.2-channel surround with front-channel bi-amping and Zone 2 line output. It also includes a moving-magnet (MM) phono input equalizer for turntable connection.
High-Quality Audio Conversion
Both models feature a high-grade 384 kHz/32-bit DAC (AK4438) from AKM, offering clear and precise audio conversion with a unique output filter for low distortion.
Support for HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HDCP 2.2
All HDMI terminals support 4K/60p, 4:4:4 24-bit video pass-through, and HDCP 2.2. Video with HDR (High Dynamic Range) in HDR10 or Dolby Vision formats, as well as BT.2020 color performance, is supported. Super Resolution technology upscales HD sources to 4K.
Multi-room Audio
FireConnect technology allows mirroring of network audio and analog sources to FireConnect-compatible wireless speakers. Music selection, speaker grouping, and control are managed via the Pioneer Remote app (requires compatible devices and OS).
Chromecast built-in
Stream music from smartphones, tablets, or laptops directly to the receivers using Chromecast-enabled apps. Control playback across various devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android phones/tablets, Chromebooks, and Chrome browser on Mac, Windows, and Linux PCs.
DTS Play-Fi Support
DTS Play-Fi enables wireless streaming of audio content from mobile devices to DTS Play-Fi-compatible components, creating a multi-room music environment. Different sources can be streamed simultaneously.
Internet Radio and Online Music Services
Access a wide range of internet radio stations and online music services including Spotify, TuneIn, TIDAL, and Deezer. (Availability and subscriptions may vary).
High-Resolution Audio Playback
Support for popular Hi-Res Audio formats including 192 kHz/24-bit FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, and DSD (2.8 MHz/5.6 MHz). Dolby TrueHD up to 192 kHz/24-bit is also supported via USB input.
5 GHz/2.4 GHz Dual-band Wi-Fi
Offers 5 GHz (11a/n) and 2.4 GHz (11b/g/n) Wi-Fi bands for high-fidelity wireless audio streaming, with the 5 GHz band providing a more stable connection in congested networks.
Bluetooth Wireless Technology
Conveniently stream audio content from mobile devices, tablets, and laptops, including audiobooks, podcasts, and music.
