Minelab EQUINOX 700/900 Quick Start Guide

This guide provides essential steps for setting up and using your Minelab EQUINOX 700 or 900 metal detector.

Getting Started: Quick Start Steps

Search Modes

The EQUINOX 700 and 900 offer several specialized search modes:

PARK Mode

Description: Ideal for finding targets in cluttered areas in recreational zones and for general searches.

Suitable Conditions: Normal ground conditions.

Typical Targets: Small coins and artifacts.

FIELD Mode

Description: Excellent for detecting targets of various sizes in historical locations.

Suitable Conditions: Normal ground conditions.

BEACH Mode

Description: Suitable for all types of salt ground – dry sand, wet sand, for searching in the surf zone and underwater.

Suitable Conditions: Wet and dry sand, underwater, surf zone.

Typical Targets: Small coins and jewelry in wet and dry sand, coins and artifacts underwater and in the surf zone.

GOLD Mode

Description: For searching for gold nuggets in mineralized gold-bearing ground.

Suitable Conditions: Difficult ground conditions.

Typical Targets: Small coins.

Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your EQUINOX detector:

  1. Attach the coil to the lower shaft.
  2. Insert the lower shaft into the middle shaft.
  3. Secure the shafts using the cam locks. Ensure they are tightened properly.
  4. Attach the control box to the upper shaft.
  5. Connect the coil cable to the control box.
  6. Adjust the shaft length for comfortable use.
  7. Ensure all connections are secure.

Note: For detailed instructions on tightening cam locks, refer to the specific section on cam lock adjustment.

Charging the Detector

Charging Time: 5-6 hours for a full charge.

Procedure:

  • Connect the USB-C cable to the detector's charging port.
  • Connect the USB-A end of the cable to a compatible USB power source (e.g., a 5V, 2A wall adapter or computer USB port).
  • The charging indicator LED will show the charging status.

Important: Use only a high-quality USB charger with an output of at least 2A at 5V to prevent potential damage.
