Quick Start Guide
Follow these four basic steps to begin detecting:
1. Power On ?
Press the power button to turn on the detector.
2. Select Search Mode ⚙️
Choose a search mode suitable for your environment. See the 'Search Modes' section below.
3. Noise Cancel ?
Perform noise cancellation to eliminate interference from electromagnetic sources.
4. Detect ?
Begin sweeping the coil over the ground to locate targets.
Search Modes
The EQUINOX 700/900 offers several pre-set search modes:
Park ?
Ideal for areas with trash and general detecting. Suitable for most common searches.

Perfect for historical sites with a wide range of target sizes.

Handles all conditions, including dry sand, wet sand, surf, and underwater.

Designed for prospecting in mineralized ground for gold nuggets.

Note: The 'Gold' mode is available on the EQUINOX 900 only.
Assembly
Assemble your detector by following these steps:
- Connect the lower shaft to the main shaft.
- Attach the search coil to the lower shaft.
- Mount the control box onto the upper shaft.
- Wrap the coil cable around the shaft.
- Connect the coil cable to the control box.
- Extend the shaft to a comfortable length.
- Ensure all connections are secure.
Cam Lock Adjustment
If the cam locks feel loose or too tight, adjust them:
- Open: Rotate the cam lock handle to open.
- Tighten: Carefully tighten the cam lock mechanism.
- Close: Rotate the cam lock handle to close.
- Verify: Check for stability and repeat if necessary.
Charging
Charge your detector using a compatible USB power source.
- Charging Time: Approximately 5-6 hours for the detector.
- Charger Requirements: Use a high-quality USB charger (2A @ 5V recommended). Ensure the charger has the appropriate certification marks (e.g., CE, EAC).
- Headphones: Charging headphones takes approximately 3 hours.
Connect the USB cable to the detector's USB port and a power source.

Familiarize yourself with the detector's controls and display elements:
Control Panel Buttons & Indicators:
- Beach Overload Indicator: Alerts to high salt content.
- Charge Status LED: Indicates charging status (Red=Charging, Green=Charged).
- Battery Level: Shows remaining battery power.
- Flashlight: Press and hold the power button for flashlight.
- Power Button: Short press to turn on/off, long press for flashlight.
- Backlight: Short press to toggle backlight, long press for flashlight.
- Discrimination Scale: Helps identify target types.
- Sensitivity: Adjusts detection sensitivity.
- Frequency Display: Shows the current operating frequency.
- Pinpoint Indicator: Signals when in pinpoint mode.
- Search Mode Button: Cycles through search modes.
- Sensitivity/Setting Adjustment (+/-): Adjusts sensitivity or settings.
- All Metal Mode: Activates all-metal detection.
- Pinpoint/Detect Button: Activates pinpoint mode or confirms detection.
Display Icons & Information:
- Target ID Number: Numerical value indicating target type.
- Vibration Indicator: Shows if vibration feedback is active.
- Headphone Indicator: Shows if headphones are connected.
- Wireless Audio Indicator: Shows status of wireless audio connection.
- Ground Balance Indicator: Shows status of automatic ground balancing.
- Depth Gauge: Estimates target depth.
Settings Menu (Short Press Power Button):
- Next Setting: Scrolls through settings.
- Noise Cancel: Performs noise cancellation.
- Ground Balance: Adjusts ground balance.
- Volume: Adjusts audio volume.
- Threshold Level: Sets the background audio threshold.
- Target Tones: Configures audio tones for different targets.
- Accept/Reject: Filters out unwanted targets.
- Recovery Speed: Adjusts how quickly the detector responds to targets.
Advanced Settings (Long Press Power Button):
- Tone Volume: Adjusts volume for specific tones.
- Threshold Pitch: Adjusts the pitch of the threshold tone.
- Tone Break: Adjusts the separation between tones.
- Iron Bias: Adjusts sensitivity to iron targets.
Note: Some advanced settings are specific to the EQUINOX 900.
