VIMAR 16580/08480 Electronic Thermostat
Product Overview and Technical Specifications
Description
The VIMAR 16580/08480 is an electronic thermostat designed for ON/OFF ambient temperature control in heating systems. It offers the possibility of a fixed nighttime temperature reduction cycle for energy saving. It features a Class I temperature control device (1% contribution) and a change-over relay output rated at 5 A 250 V~. The device operates on a 230 V~ 50/60 Hz power supply and occupies 3 modules in an electrical panel.
Scope of Application
This thermostat is suitable for controlling ambient temperature by regulating the supply circuit of the burner or circulation pump in heating systems. It includes an option to activate a fixed nighttime temperature reduction for energy savings.

Installation
The thermostat must be installed in flush or surface mounting boxes with compatible Idea or 8000 frames and cover plates. It should be mounted at a height of 1.5 meters above floor level in a location suitable for accurate ambient temperature measurement. Avoid installation in niches, behind doors or curtains, near heat sources, or in areas affected by external weather conditions. It is particularly important to avoid installation on perimeter walls or adjacent to devices that generate heat (e.g., dimmers or lamps). The thermostat is designed for use in dry, dust-free areas with ambient temperatures between 0 °C and +40 °C.
Using the Electronic Thermostat
The desired operating mode is set using the frontal slide switch:
- OFF position: The thermostat is switched off.
- DAY position: The thermostat is set to control the temperature at the value indicated by the control knob.
- NIGHT position: Similar to the DAY position, but the set temperature is automatically lowered by 4 °C (fixed nighttime reduction) for energy saving.
To set the desired comfort temperature, position the pointer of the control knob to the desired temperature value marked on the knob.
Controls and Indicators
The front panel features the following controls and indicators:
- Slide Switch: Allows selection between OFF, DAY, and NIGHT modes.
- Control Knob: Used to set the desired comfort temperature.
- Red LED: When lit, indicates that the relay output is active (heating is on because the set temperature has not been reached).
- Green LED: When lit, indicates that the fixed nighttime reduction of 4 °C is activated.
Visual Description of Controls (Models 16580/08480)
The front panel displays a circular dial for temperature adjustment, marked with temperature values (e.g., 5°C to 35°C) and a pointer. Below the dial is a slide switch for selecting operating modes (OFF, DAY, NIGHT). Two indicator LEDs are present: a red LED and a green LED.
Electrical Diagrams
Diagram 1: Circulation Pumps, Burners, Solenoid Valves
This diagram shows a terminal block labeled 'U1'. It includes connections for Line (L) and Neutral (N) power supply. Several output terminals are provided for connecting to circulation pumps, burners, or solenoid valves, facilitating the control of heating system components.
Diagram 2: Motor-Operated Valves
This diagram illustrates the wiring for controlling motor-operated valves. It features a terminal block labeled 'U1' with connections for Line (L) and Neutral (N). Output terminals are designated for controlling valve operation, with labels indicating 'CLOSE' (or 'FERME') and 'OPEN' (or 'OUVERT') functions.
Installation Rules
Installation should be carried out by qualified personnel in compliance with the current regulations regarding the installation of electrical equipment in the country where the products are installed. Before operating on the system, disconnect the mains by acting on the main switch. Use yellow/green insulated conductors only for the connection to the earthing circuit. Verify that the cross-sectional area of the supply conductors is adequate for the load, and in any case, it must not be less than 1.5 mm². Clamp the conductors fully and carefully in the terminals, as imperfect clampings can cause overheating sufficient to pose a fire risk.
Conformity to Standards
The product complies with the LV Directive and EMC Directive. Standards include EN 60730-1 and EN 60730-2-9. According to REACH (EU) Regulation no. 1907/2006 - Art.33, the product may contain traces of lead.
WEEE - Information for Users
The symbol of the crossed-out bin on the equipment or packaging indicates that the product must be collected separately from other waste at the end of its working life. Users must take the product to an appropriate sorted waste collection center or return it to the retailer when purchasing a new, equivalent product. Retailers with a sales area of at least 400 m² can accept products smaller than 25 cm for disposal free of charge without a new purchase obligation. Proper sorted waste collection contributes to avoiding negative environmental and health effects and promotes the reuse and/or recycling of the device's materials.
